I Like the way your scripts play out. It makes for a perfect genuine review and offers insight into things other reviews might gloss over entirely. Particularly the mythology. That’s my favorite segment. Keep up the good work, but don’t burn out. I look forward to the Halloween episode.
I gotta say, I’ve been watching your channel for awhile now and these videos are SO comfy, just the perfect watch on a slow day. Super underrated channel.
Fun fact about the "harpies!" They're probably in game representations of Ba, a part of the human soul that could in theory travel between the lands of the living and dead! Makes it being a swarm enemy pretty fun!
the arcade i at my bowling alley was painfully sanitized so having any shooter in it was a blessing for me. This was the more interesting and unique shooter i had fun trying to save my quarters over. the changing levels made each time i play so fresh in my teenage brain and hearing it today being articulated and analyzed as a piece of history is a treat. great vid!!!
Honestly, I find the "Pharaoh" hilarious as a character, and instead of a threatening monster, it makes him come across as a cookie old guy that would stop trying to kill the player characters if they offered to take him out to grab a beer and hang out.
The bird enemies are likely based on Ba, one of several aspects of the soul in Egyptian mythology, in this case personality, and are sometimes depicted as birds with human heads.
This channel focuses on such a niche genre of game that I really don’t hear much about (or one I have much personal experience with). Really adore your work! It’s always a nice surprise to see you pop up :-)
Wasn't expecting childhood trauma in the first minute. I tried Airline Pilots once when I was like 6 and couldn't keep the plane from flipping so I just ran away screaming 😂
Honestly, I don't mind the mythology explanations as it adds a layer to your commentary. Especially since you seemed really passionate about it. Great video as well as its nice to be introduced or be reminded of arcade games like these. A neat blast to the past.
Great video as usual! Love me some Dreamcast graphics. Was also surprised by the Tutenstein references. Don't see a lot of people name drop Discovery Kids shows lmao
Actually, Set was a villain because he was long jealous of Osiris for being king. He killed him and took his place as king. But, Osiris’s son Horus defeated Set for revenge
40:30 I know you say random, but are you sure this isn't a shell game where you can follow the correct jar with your eyes while it moves around? Because if it IS truly random... then what the hell is the point of all the jars switching around?!?!? Why bother to create an animation that suggests an element of skill when it's actually entirely chance? That would be totally bogus, man.
@harlannguyen4048 True that. I mean, I could follow it pretty well, but I've played more Mario Parties than it was once thought a human being could play before dying, so I don't represent the general public well in this space.
I love your videos please make more! Your descriptive abilities and sense of humor is great, not many youtube videos have this much thought put in them.
Great review! The little edits of Mummy clips and your own quips over game play were a lot of fun. Looking forward to seeing what new content you have in mind for the channel
Yooooo!!!! I didn’t even realize why this was in my subscriptions at first lol! Time for a new obscure arcade adventure! The big Bunyan ride song still plays rent free in my head to this day
I've been hoping to see a video on this since I started watching your rail shooter videos. I played this a lot as a kid, and I have a lot of fond memories of it - even though it's probably been around 20 years, seeing this video brought back vivid memories of playing the game myself.
The sudo-random idea makes me think of the fictional videogame from Yu Yu Hakusho. It has various game types in one package, including a trivia game. The trivia game was "allegedly random, but was actually preprogrammed with several predetermined tracks. A character claiming to know all of the questions was able to determine the exact track after the first 5 questions were asked.
If you do make that switch from "90% to 60% rail shooters", then I think it would be interesting to see you tackle other arcade titles from different genres. Whether it's titles people fondly remember, titles that were overlooked or others that were not good even back then.
I love your arcade rail shooter reviews. Thank you for documenting a unique sector of video game history. Would you consider doing a walk through for a late 90's/early 2000's rail shooter called "Brave Firefighters"? It was a very unique rail shooter game that had you take on the role of a Firefighter saving people from a burning building. I have a lot of fond (but vague) memories of playing that game as a kid.
This kind of reviews are my favorite. It's like learning nerdy history besides of the game. I can imagine something like that in a dinosaur videogame of some sort YIPIE!!!!
A great video, and a game I didn't know about! Really interesting for a game like this to let you pick a loadout of armor and weapon type. It's a shame it didn't wind up mattering more but that is a really cool idea for this type of game; combined with the random-ish levels upping the potential replay value. Also, while railshooters and arcade classics are fun, I think plenty of people would be interested in seeing you cover other stuff too so don't feel worried about checking out some other stuff like you said you wanted to. Your format is the right amount of humorous and informative and I think that would lend itself to all sorts of games!
Yes another review!!! I've been subbed since I saw your let's go jungle review and your northern journey video. Love your style and humor. Keep it up!!
Very nice video again. This game was my very first rail shooter, although I think I was like 6 so I didn’t even comprehend the idea of shooting outside the screen to reload even though it flashes the directions at you, and my uncle had to do it for me. I never saw the cabinet again after that one time, and I had to figure out what it even was several years later when happening upon gameplay videos. Blast from the past, this one.
I know you said you don't want to pigeonhole yourself with arcade rail shooters, but you really are making some of the best content about them on this site. Obviously, follow what you need to do as a creator, but your coverage of these is top notch!
As a fan of Egyptian myth, it will always be funny to me that Anubis is always a default design for mooks in these sorts of games/stories. The guy has very little presence in myths themselves (outside of inventing mummification in the Osiris myth) but he had a big presence in funeral rites and iconography of the kingdom that a lot of storytellers kinda just throw him in as "the jackal guy" with some words thrown in about him being "God of the Underworld" (untrue, that's Osiris, though Anubis did have that title in some earlier versions) and sometimes getting the Hades treatment of being mischaracterized as an evil guy. When in reality, Anubis was pretty chill and impartial, only weighing the souls of the departed before they could get into the afterlife. (sorry for the semi-rant. Egyptology is one of my interests lol)
You are making the common mistake of thinking of the Osiris myth as always being there. Anubis is a major god and was extremely important to the Egyptians. He was the god of the underworld for quite a while and was the judge of every recently diseased soul. A whole bunch of this was given to Osiris during the Osiris Myth rewrite, but to ignore the major role of Anubis prior to the Osiris Myth is a massive misunderstanding of Ancient Egyptian mythology. Just to give an idea, there is about a thousand years between Anubis's earliest depictions and Osiris's. That is almost a thousand years of non-centralized religious interpretations you are ignoring. Not to mention that Anubis remained extremely popular with the Egyptian people even after the Osiris myth as he represented a respectable and positive experience after death (assuming you deserved it), not unlike our modern imagery of a Grim Reaper. As for modern use of Anubis iconography, it mostly comes down to charisma. Which is more appealing to a modern audience: a black jackal headed man or a guy with green skin whose married to his own sister? To modern eyes, which one is more "Ruler of the Dead"?
I know this is a weird request. It isn't in your wheelhouse but I feel this game is in the spirit of an arcade shooter. Ever take a look at the game "Cabela's Dangerous Hunts"? Mandalore gaming did a review on it, but I feel 1: it just seems like an arcade shooter type of game. and 2: the game wasn't reviewed in detail.
I love your videos! You're very informative and entertaining to watch, and anytime I see a video, I gotta give it a like! Thank you so much for doing what you do!!
holy shit Maze of Kings!!!! I remember being too short to reach the cabinet at my local arcade; they had to give me a stool so I could be high enough for the staves to register. Edit: In retrospect, I wonder if all the "fake" screenshots are meant to make it look like you missed more random levels than there actually are.
The cup ball game for the hawk treasure is not random, not at all. If you follow the pot that it gets put into, it will be that one that has the hawk. It doesn’t switch around during it, but it just requires you to look closely and pay a bit more attention.
Never thought I'd watch an hour long review of a game that never had a home port, that I've never played before, with such indepth commentary lol TH-cam sometimes hits the good recommendations.
Fun fact. In Vtm. Set is an antiduilivan. (Basically a very old and powerful.) An entrie vampire clan was spawned from his childeer. (People he turned into vampires)
Entertaining and educational! Wtf with the pharaoh. 😂 so I'm guessing the devs watched The Mummy, followed by Big Trouble in Little China, then they brainstormed this game? That's the vibe I'm getting. BTW, I really do hope you cover The Mummy series at some point.
Weird thought. Since you said that Ra at night has a rams head, could the minotaurs actually be statues of Ra's night form? The picture of Ra you showed and the minotaurs look very similar to me.
Naw, the minotaurs are definitely bulls while Ra becomes a ram with wavy horns at night. Funny enough, images of ram headed Ra can be seen on some of the background walls.
I like the wacky grandpa mummy Pharaoh. It makes him much more memorable and entertaining than if SEGA had gone the easy route and made him an Imhotep clone.
Maybe the golden water is Lemonade. Y-yeah. Egyptians were renown having Lemon Parties while drinking a nice glass of Lemonade produced from the Lemon River.
another shinichi ogasawara classic! probably the least well-known of his rail shooters though... never seen a cabinet of this one in person, unlike all the others
I knew I played this game before either once or twice but it was fun and different. They really should try to make a collectors edition of railshooters from years past many of us grew up with them and find them really fun can’t wait to see the next one.
Its really funny. Set to me is like Agravaine of the Egyptian lore. The way how they both were originally friendly allies of good, turned evil because of another myth canonizing.

Why did you describe the Osiris myth as fan fiction? I’ve genuinely never heard any issues with the myth brought up before.
I want you to make IGS pirate revenge arcade game play video.
It's great to here others know this game. And it's nice to have a comprehensive look at the game.
I Like the way your scripts play out. It makes for a perfect genuine review and offers insight into things other reviews might gloss over entirely. Particularly the mythology. That’s my favorite segment.
Keep up the good work, but don’t burn out. I look forward to the Halloween episode.
Was not expecting the Chinese grandpa pharaoh with a yugioh card powered flying broom but here we are
I gotta say, I’ve been watching your channel for awhile now and these videos are SO comfy, just the perfect watch on a slow day.
Hearing you say what chambers one might enter in a playthrough invokes memories of Legends of the Hidden Temple within my mind.
Honestly, I find the "Pharaoh" hilarious as a character, and instead of a threatening monster, it makes him come across as a cookie old guy that would stop trying to kill the player characters if they offered to take him out to grab a beer and hang out.
He'd fit right at home in something the late great Akira Toriyama designed, maybe Tobal in the dungeon crawl portion of the game.
It’s always a nice surprise to see you pop up :-)
HONEY HONEY WAKE UP BEXX PUT UP ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO!!!
Something about this game feels exactly like a DnD module where a Mesoamerican shrine has tigers and hyenas in it
It’s also clearly just a fun campaign, going by how goofy the villains are. DM just wants their party to have a good time and I respect that.
Needed some "Man-scorpions" though which do exist in AD&D monster manuals.
"Whew! Rrroom boo! Yippee!!!"
That moment will never not make me laugh. Great video!
Honey wake up, new BexxReviews just dropped.
Jumped at that alert so fast I got the first comment. Can't wait to sit down with my cat a cocktail and settle in to watch! Love these vids!
I'm wondering if the Treasure Goblins are Ghouls. The green skin, hooves and backwards legs reminds me of some of the more Lovecraftian depictions.
Wasn't expecting childhood trauma in the first minute. I tried Airline Pilots once when I was like 6 and couldn't keep the plane from flipping so I just ran away screaming 😂
That sounds adorable and hilarious, not gonna' lie.
Off topic, The Mummies's faces remind me of Eddy the mascot of the British metal band Iron Maiden.
yeah, i always thought when i played this that it was a pocket eddy they slipped in to be funny
I figured the "piss water" was just sand somehow.
Yeah, I think it's intended to be sand but they got lazy and just colored water yellow and called it a day.
Honestly, I don't mind the mythology explanations as it adds a layer to your commentary. Especially since you seemed really passionate about it. Great video as well as its nice to be introduced or be reminded of arcade games like these. A neat blast to the past.
I'm glad there's a cameo of King Twotonguekamen. You can't have an Egypt-themed game without King Tootencalmen.
i used to love the 1999 mummy with brendan frasier as a kid, so maze of kings was my favorite arcade game
I don't know why, but I love the juxtaposition of a 2000 year-old pharaoh mask saying "you thieving creeps". 😆
He ain’t wrong, either.
Great video as usual! Love me some Dreamcast graphics. Was also surprised by the Tutenstein references. Don't see a lot of people name drop Discovery Kids shows lmao
Another Bexx review. Today is a very good day
Bexx reviewing a rail shooter? Must be my lucky day!
Actually, Set was a villain because he was long jealous of Osiris for being king. He killed him and took his place as king. But, Osiris’s son Horus defeated Set for revenge
I always been a sucker for desert themes in video games, so it's always nice when an entire game is made around the theme.
This is the coolest niche channel on youtube. Keep up the sick content dude
honestly, my favorite part of your reviews is when you are funny. makes it quite entertaining, well done!
That opening was perfect.
Given how fast they move at the end, it might as well be random.

Can’t begin to describe how great it is to see another review! These are fantastic!
Yooooo!!!! I didn’t even realize why this was in my subscriptions at first lol! Time for a new obscure arcade adventure! The big Bunyan ride song still plays rent free in my head to this day
I do really love your arcade videos, Bexx. You are genuinely my favorite channel on TH-cam. I do look forward to seeing your new projects, though!
For a 2002 arcade rail shooter the art is really good, great even
I've been hoping to see a video on this since I started watching your rail shooter videos. I played this a lot as a kid, and I have a lot of fond memories of it - even though it's probably been around 20 years, seeing this video brought back vivid memories of playing the game myself.

Reviews like yours is what motivates me to keep working on my rail shooter game. Keep it up Bexx!
This kind of reviews are my favorite. It's like learning nerdy history besides of the game. I can imagine something like that in a dinosaur videogame of some sort
YIPIE!!!!
A great video, and a game I didn't know about! Really interesting for a game like this to let you pick a loadout of armor and weapon type. "Marked by a cloud of bees" might just be my favorite set of words so far.
So happy to see you cover these lost gems! Can’t wait to see you cover other bangers from the late 90s early 00s!
This makes me miss the old arcades I used to haunt :)
When Khanage did a video on House of the Dead Overkill, for some reason I expected him to collab w/ u
Yes another review!!! I've been subbed since I saw your let's go jungle review and your northern journey video. Love your style and humor. Keep it up!!
That little jingle that plays when you successfully get the treasure reminds me of the jingle from Super Metroid, i love them both.
Bexx has posted another full length review so today is a great day
I can't tell you how much I look forward to these!
Blast from the past, this one.
the dialog in these games are so insane i can't get enough of it. i'm assuming it's bad translation but it's amazing and adds to the charm!
I know you said you don't want to pigeonhole yourself with arcade rail shooters, but you really are making some of the best content about them on this site. Obviously, follow what you need to do as a creator, but your coverage of these is top notch!
There is no way for me to enjoy these games anymore, watching you review them is great

When you were describing the different rooms you could go through, it reminded me of Olmec explaining a potential path through the Hidden Temple.
Room 420: The Shrine of the Silver Monkey
@15:48 That’s me, I’m the one guy who knows what Tutenstein is.
yk its a good week when bexx drops another rail gun video
I know this is a weird request. It isn't in your wheelhouse but I feel this game is in the spirit of an arcade shooter. Ever take a look at the game "Cabela's Dangerous Hunts"? I said it was random as decided during the cutscene. As in, the cup it is placed in and finishes in is not the same between playthroughs.
Never thought I'd watch an hour long review of a game that never had a home port, that I've never played before, with such indepth commentary lol
TH-cam sometimes hits the good recommendations.
Fun fact. In Vtm. Set is an antiduilivan. (Basically a very old and powerful.) An entrie vampire clan was spawned from his childeer. (People he turned into vampires)
There was a room 404. But it couldnt be found
Yessss another BEX REVIEW!
10:57 Hades was FEARED, but unlike Set, Greek mythology never depicted him as pure evil.
10:25
Set vindication!
Found out that the guy who directed this also directed Illbleed for the Dreamcast.
That explains a lot.
These games were mad fun ,
Arcades need to get these back
I like the wacky grandpa mummy Pharaoh. It makes him much more memorable and entertaining than if SEGA had gone the easy route and made him an Imhotep clone.
"Good thing we have guns."
Every horror movie set in America.
Maybe the golden water is Lemonade. Y-yeah. Egyptians were renown having Lemon Parties while drinking a nice glass of Lemonade produced from the Lemon River.
35:20 SHE SAID THE THING
Rail shooters be wild.
YESSS SHE'S BACK LET'S GOOOO i'm so excited to eat dinner while watching this! thank you as always Bexx :D
WOOOO NEW UPDATE!!
I remember only finding this game at Chuck E Cheese weirdly enough
Legit over here half expecting the Shrine of the Silver Monkey as a room.
another shinichi ogasawara classic! probably the least well-known of his rail shooters though... never seen a cabinet of this one in person, unlike all the others
I can’t wait for you to cover the house of the dead series!
Really like the unique way you use a staff to shoot.
I knew I played this game before either once or twice but it was fun and different. They really should try to make a collectors edition of railshooters from years past many of us grew up with them and find them really fun can’t wait to see the next one.
Hell ya another arcade game review and i actually remember playing this game once
Your videos are just pure comfort! I watched carnevil waaay to much 😂
This and some pizza is so fire. Thank you for the arcade shooter retrospectives 🙏
New Bexx! Tonight is good!
I swear these level names give me "Legends of the Hidden Temple" vibes.
Its really funny. Set to me is like Agravaine of the Egyptian lore. The way how they both were originally friendly allies of good, turned evil because of another myth canonizing.
An interesting game to do a video on would be 2 Spicy
Honestly surprised there wasn’t that Star Wars quote in here
Coincidentally, this video showed up in my sub box right when you mentioned doing it in your "Attack of the Movies 3D" just now.
this was at my local chuck e cheese but only for a short while I really enjoyed it the style def really stands out and its a nice bit of nostalgia the enemy designs always remind me of Mummies Alive
I never played this one or seen a cabinet in the wild (not a lot of arcades anymore where I live) Funny coincidence though, the mid-90s treasure hunt rail-shooter Crypt Killer from Konami also had a giant Pharaoh death mask boss, however SEGA missed an opportunity to also use the other enemy concept in the Egyptian stages of hieroglyphic guardians which peel out the wall like flat 2d golems. Aside from that it's the usual affair of mummies everywhere, but also rats and a huge GynoSphinx as the 2nd Egyptian themed boss.
But holy cow that Mad Pharaoh antagonist had a really unique design, it may outrage some purist Egyptology majors but I found the odd fusion refreshingly different than a Scottish actor playing Set LOL Surprised they didn't think of kamikaze dung beetles whose payloads explode when they get roll em' close to you...Elden Ring thought of it later.
Your vids are amazing, not sure if you're planning this already but I'd love to see a vid on SEGA's Golden Gun
