some correction: EU car models are also very cheap in China. for example BMW iX3 starts at €34k, while costs €77k in EU. also the famous VW ID3 costs only €15k in China. so the EU models are losing in Chinese market not only because of price, but because of out-dated tech and design as well. for example, major Chinese brands have already widely adopted transformer-based autopilot system that is able to do parking-spot-to-parking-spot autonomous driving. Also LLM-based voice assistants are now widely integrated across almost all Chinese brands. No other EU legacy brands can offer similar user experience, not even close. that's why VW/Audi wants to incoporate autopilot system from Xpeng and DJI in their new models in China in order to remain competitive. now chinese car makers start rolling out new platforms with active chassis and solid state batteries. It's a matter of taste, but I don't like the Tesla interiors after the Model S, they scream 'cheap' to me and sadly this one is trying to do the same (but it is at least handing the savings to the customer, not Tesla shareholders). Volvo (Geely) is trying to do the same with its model EC30 which I had on loan for a day, and I was very glad to hand it back. For starters, I like my speed shown in my line of sight, and anything that forces me to take my eyes of the road is badso I certainly welcome the addition of a HUD here - that ought to be mandatory..
@@freddoflintstono9321The EX30 is a Volvo decision, not Geely. The Zeekr X (which is a new premium brand for Geely), built on the same platform as the EX30, is much better equipped however, the range is lower. The Chinese version is a high spec premium version, power opening doors/fold up rear seat, 3 screens (center, drivers display and HUD), etc.. Volvo, I feel could have gone the route of the X but, opted more for profit. A lot of people will buy because it’s an “affordable” Volvo. Any market that has both, I feel with some research and driving both, people will opt for the Zeekr X as it offers a lot more for its price and the crash/safety tests are similar and better in some areas.
20:28 You mentioned ¨the craziness of Chinese traffic¨ while standing in the middle of the two lanes and being honked by the cars behind for that... pretty normal I would say. 😅 Just an observation, I love your videos.
Using turn signal reveals the intention to change lane therefore puts yourself in a vulnerable position. That’s why we only put on the signal as we move across😂
This car is insane. Europe can’t build a car for that price. Europeon car manufacters are in big trouble. Tarrifs will never help in the longterm. Tarrifs hurts consumer in the end. Big love for NIO
To be fair, all these Chinese brands like BYD, Nio, Xpeng that have entered the European market have not been disruptive because their pricing is the same or even more expensive then Tesla for example. Sales figures on the European market for BYD, Nio, Xpeng are not impressive at all even before the tariffs. These crazy prices are a Chinese market only thing.
@BBingo-v5i Europe doesn't have the battery capacity or battery dominace vs China & overall Chinese EV supply chain. The best & cheapest EV'S are coming from China.. Yes the Europeans can probably do this but by that time the Chinese will grow their lead in this sector.. Was looking at a SU7 max the other day. 300k rmb. Or $41k usd. & the CEO of Ford drove it for 6 months & he loves it, he doesn't want to give it up!! His words not mine.. Lots of examples to use here & now..& no the Europeans cannot do what ONVO L60 just did to the model Y leveling up in a big way.. Or they would have done it already..
Isn't it funny and ironic how Chinese cars seem to universally be the least kitschy and most elegant, mature looking in the interiors? The choice of design elements, materials, details, etc. make their cars look like they're designed to appeal to adults and mature people with style and taste, while most western cars look like they're designed to appeal to people with no style or sense of aesthetics, just a bunch of kitsch and pointless elements. Just look at new BMW's for example, it's a disaster.
Totally agree. Even BYD, which had questionable design ideas with the Atto 3 is now showing more maturity with the Sealion 7. A recent comment that made me laugh was describing the interior of the Mercedes EQS as "a Twitch streamer's bedroom". While some legacy brands have modernized well, like the Korean brands & Skoda, most are just trying too hard. At a recent EV car show, after looking at several Chinese cars, I was shocked how cheap looking & badly designed the interiors of the BMW iX series were. Looking at Japanese ICE cars, it seems they pressed the pause button on design ideas 20 years ago & are stuck there.
The cars looks good actually:) I am using an MG Marvel R. I'm really happy with the car and the price I paid for it, but if this one comes to EU. I might upgrade to this in couple of years.
This car is 20% cheaper than model y, 40% cheaper than model y with the battery rental service. But Tesla has 5 yrs 0% APR policy in China. So they're roughly the same price if you go with loans.
Love your work but too many auto journalists continue to do the Tesla comparison thing and it’s become tiresome and causes me to tune out. China manufacturers are now ahead in this category in its offerings.
@@GlossaMEStop pushing your religion on others and trying to police how others speak :) Unfortunately many feel Christian beliefs are used to be discriminatory and hateful.
ZEEKR 7X just came out and it looks really good. Not sure if you had time to review it yet. I will check it out tomorrow Nina shopping mall and might buy one! Price is insane for the stuff it comes with.
Thomas, thanks for showing where the MECHANICAL door openers are. There are reports of people who could not escape their burning Tesla because the electrics failed and they could not find the mechanical release, and it's good they're not hidden in this car. Again points for the Onvo..
Woaw that software is really something. It's not inspired by Tesla ... it's a direct copy of the interface with some fancy UI extra's. I kinda like it :)
@autogefuehl Try selling it afterwards without battery. Once I payoff my car loan, Idon't want to pay never-ending battery fees. People have multiple cars in the US, and some are rarely used. No way! And no I like most Americans won't drive EV for 10 plus years before I trade it in so most people won't be impacted by battery degradation if any.
it's an option, you can also buy car with the battery. without having battery, buyer no longer have to worry about battery degradation, battery tech, and battery replacement (if broken). and the upfront cost is cheaper.
Right now, the major deficit in EVs is short range. Battery swapping enables upgrading the battery pack when new technology, such as solid-state batteries, arrives in coming years, which will significantly increase range.
I would like some videos on the Chinese and global markets because if feel there is a lot of dishonest information and outright propaganda from all sides. It is clear that these Chinese brands are very disruptive on their home market, there is no denying that
It’s the same outside however, here in Malaysia some things may be removed from some brands to maintain a competitive price. I’ve checked out a few and have posted some videos on them. Build quality is really good, equipment level is high, the area that needs some improvements I feel, is steering feel and ride/handling setup (if you’re into feeling the road and all that), that being said, they are great for most drivers. In a few years we will probably see them going into that sporty car realm, like how Hyundai/KIA/Genesis did, with getting some really good chassis engineers to improve their sporty cars. Thailand has quite a number of Chinese EVs already on sale there, I was surprised at how many people had made the change. Experienced them as Grab cars, they got my attention to check out some here in Malaysia.
Really interesting review. When you’re driving using the different autonomous levels do you find it more stressful having to be aware that it may not work consistently than not using autonomous driving. Definitely we need more industry news and views as well as your vehicle reviews. Currently we are going through a substantial industry upheaval with Japanese manufacturers merging, tariffs and other countries entering the vehicle industry. Legacy manufacturers are having to adapt to changing markets with the possibility that they may disappear altogether. Great to see you in China reviewing cars irrespective of some people attitudes China will play a major role in the vehicle market whether it be Western or non Western.
Thomas and Leah Merry Christmas and thank you for all the great reviews throughout the year, have yourselves a great new years and can't wait to see what you'll be reviewing for us next year🎄🎉
In Canada what is really crazy is that you can only use a NIO/ONVO for farm equipment!! Totally nuts, politicians failures & protecting old ICE manufacturers.. Best way is to try your best & compete & the consumers will get the best products.. 100% Chinese EV teriffs!! Geez zero confidence or what!! Sick of seeing Tesla's I want some decent EV choices bring in some Chinese EV'S..
Thanks for the Christmas present. So much car for €20k if European tariffs do not get it. If you need a runabout why would you now buy an ID3 or almost anything from Japan or Korea? The rest outside China are also in trouble on software where the code in this now looks good. Again a contrast with poor old VW. I have a cousin who has just bought a Tesla Model Y for his fairly long school run with young children which was costing him a lot of money in petrol previously. If this had been available he might have bought this instead willingly, even before his wife insisted he did. Onvo and Nio, among others, really are going to shake up the market.
The NVH in rear is more pronounced than other cars from Europe.. is this the case for other premium Chinese NIO ET9 love to see your comments on ride comfort

Thomas pls before leaving china can you pls review the denza brand from byd and some Huawei cars like stelato and aito😊😊😊. And merry Christmas to you and Leah
Happy Christmas wishes to you and Lia 🎄 🤗 amazing vehicle and price point. VW and legacy automakers have already been left behind and must accept it. Please test the xpeng mona, it is a lower price point and similar qualities to this. ✔️👏👌
Cool...but all these reviews can't tell you if the car is reliable... I'm in China and EVs are like smartphones now... New brand and model every day 😅 I test-drove many of them, not so impressed. Looks, software and design don't make a car great. NIO is deeply in debt, so most Chinese wouldn't consider it. Yes, China has a lot of EVs but they are mostly Didi cars (the Chinese Uber). With solid-state batteries on the horizon, I'd wait to switch to EV but hey, that's me. 😎
No ofc not...thats why a gisnt like catl is now starting with battery as a service also right? Such an ignorant comment...and swaps per year are skyrocketing...swapping is herr to stay and grow and is the future of evs, like it or not.
With all the perks that NIO gives drivers using BaaS, it's an absolute no-brainer. Swapping the battery, upgrading the battery, never having to worry about degradation - ever. Meanwhile being able to do everything every other EV can do, including rapid charging, charging from home, etc. I think you don't understand the model just yet. NIO has done 61 million swaps already, and the pace is accelerating like crazy.
😮 Thomas come to China 😮Will you test or go check more Chinese Car or cars from international manufactures here? In China we have two types of Passat sedan ------Magotan from FAW-VW and Passat from SAIC-VW( same platform but different outlook)😮
Probably a decent car, but - - - Individual decision (and depends how closely people follow world politics), but - I'm not supporting China (and hence thereby also Russia) by buying a reduced price Chinese EV. And for similar reasons, never buying a Tesla now that we know what sort of character Elon Musk actually is. OK, so, that's fine - I'm happy to pay a bit more for a BMW (or maybe a Honda … or maybe a Renault … shame the once great UK car industry is now gone).
I dont think the whole battery swap thing will work out. But the Onvo looks like a great car, its a shame that it has no personality at all like most chinese cars.
@@GlossaME Its 27000 USD in china with battery. Then EU now say 45% tariff on Chinese made cars, we are now at 39000USD, then we add tax (25% in sweden) and suddenly the car starts at 49000 USD in Sweden. The Model Y starts at 51000 USD in Sweden, so 2000 USD difference.
RIP Tesla, Tesla is super outdated and low quality. BMW, VW, Mercedes and Audi are far ahead in technology and in quality compared to Tesla and Onvo. Check out the upcoming 800V BMW iX3 or Mercedes CLA.

Merry Christmas Thomas & Mrs Thomas, and have a Happy New Year.
merry xmas! 🎄
Glad to see you were visiting China for EV reviews. I believe you will have more opportunities to visit China for more EV reviews.
Wish we can get these Chinese Evs in America. A BYD Seal looks much better than a Model 3 and Ioniq 6.
They're starting to be available in the UK also, good value and looks to be good quality
Happy to see you enjoy China's automotive scene my friend! You channel is unbiased and complete
20:28 You mentioned ¨the craziness of Chinese traffic¨ while standing in the middle of the two lanes and being honked by the cars behind for that... pretty normal I would say. 😅
Just an observation, I love your videos.
Using turn signal reveals the intention to change lane therefore puts yourself in a vulnerable position. That’s why we only put on the signal as we move across😂
Oh ho - Thomas is on business trip during Christmas ;) - thanks for interesting content! and Merry Christmas to you and the crew :D
thanks and merry xmas!
@19:28 you forgot to mention this car has this hole in the trunk, because can be optioned with a real midea fridge (not cooler). ❤
Love some industry takes!
European manufacturers can easily build something like this. Only American manufacturers would struggle
@BBingo-v5i not for the price. Not even close. For the same quality if it were made in Germany it would cost 8x😂
@@FrankNolf japan been selling their cars in europe for twice as much.... what's the difference?
Spot on. Mercedes interiors resemble glitzy 70s discos - complete with lava lamps and glitter balls.
That’s because Chinese companies hire Europeans to do design, while Europeans hire Chinese lol
In terms of autonomous driving, i really look forward to your test driving on Huawei EVs. Trust me. You will be amazed
So happy to see Thomas in China and enjoy the traffic....😝
The cars looks good actually:) I am using an MG Marvel R. I'm really happy with the car and the price I paid for it, but if this one comes to EU. I might upgrade to this in couple of years.
This car is 20% cheaper than model y, 40% cheaper than model y with the battery rental service. But Tesla has 5 yrs 0% APR policy in China. So they're roughly the same price if you go with loans.
Only 1 can battery swap and fast charge...
Love your work but too many auto journalists continue to do the Tesla comparison thing and it’s become tiresome and causes me to tune out. China manufacturers are now ahead in this category in its offerings.
that's because in europe or u.s..... they only have tesla to compare with
Please test a Zeekr 7X which is also coming to EU this summer 😉👍🏼 thanks
Merry Christmas Thomas
merry xmas my friend!
@@autogefuehl Oh, don''t use the X. Christ is a good thing Thomas! All the best
@@GlossaMEStop pushing your religion on others and trying to police how others speak :) Unfortunately many feel Christian beliefs are used to be discriminatory and hateful.
Very nice car. Nio has done a fabulous job designing Onvo
ZEEKR 7X just came out and it looks really good. Not sure if you had time to review it yet. I will check it out tomorrow Nina shopping mall and might buy one! Price is insane for the stuff it comes with.
They are way better looking than Tessla, really love that blue color!
That camouflage car @30:45 is Mona M03, which is for me the most anticipated car to be ever reviewed by You, Thomas. 🙂
Thomas, it would be interesting to see you design a car. What compromises you would make and what features would be a must.
26:50 😂😂
Welcome to 电鸡之城Guangzhou
The autonomous driving of Chinese manufacturers was honed in such chaos and hellish traffic😂
@@AutogefuhlChinesewait till you try hima cars from Huawei those cars autonomous systems are on another level
@@AutogefuhlChineseTesla's FSD would fail under such chaotic conditions.😂
Thomas, thanks for showing where the MECHANICAL door openers are. There are reports of people who could not escape their burning Tesla because the electrics failed and they could not find the mechanical release, and it's good they're not hidden in this car. Again points for the Onvo..
Thanks 🙏 i m in favor of real handles…
Woaw that software is really something. It's not inspired by Tesla ... it's a direct copy of the interface with some fancy UI extra's. I kinda like it :)
Excellent videos from China. Super interesting.
Merry Christmas.
Merry xmas!🎄
Frohe Weihnachten Thomas. Waiting for more reviews in 2025, 4K, full length, full HD also probably with cars in Thomas Blue.
Merry xmas!🎄
Rent a battery? Why would I want a continuing payment?
Simply to avoid a 10k$ upfront payment
Cheaper, dont carry the financial risk, always get a freshly maintenanced one
Thomas, welcome to China. You finally went to EV heaven 🤣
Also to be mentioned that NIO has way more "normal" chargers on the chinese market than others. The PSS is a fancy option for sure.
Doesn't matter as they all share charging networks in china
Great vid thank you
@30:50 xpeng Mona 03 cammuouflaged 😂
What you really need to review when it is available in early 2026 is the Nio Firefly. That is going to be a disruptive car in the hatchback segment.
We ll keep u updated
I don't get the Chinese international pricing at all. Like you lease the Tesla anyway, you don't itemize the lease, so you pay the same???
What about hepa filter
Cool video!
Thomas and Leah Merry Christmas and thank you for all the great reviews throughout the year, have yourselves a great new years and can't wait to see what you'll be reviewing for us next year🎄🎉
Merry xmas!🎄
Too bad these are banned from Canada and America 😢
In Canada what is really crazy is that you can only use a NIO/ONVO for farm equipment!! Totally nuts, politicians failures & protecting old ICE manufacturers.. Best way is to try your best & compete & the consumers will get the best products.. 100% Chinese EV teriffs!! Geez zero confidence or what!! Sick of seeing Tesla's I want some decent EV choices bring in some Chinese EV'S..
👍 Merry Christmas
🎄🎄
Thanks for the Christmas present.
So much car for €20k if European tariffs do not get it. If you need a runabout why would you now buy an ID3 or almost anything from Japan or Korea? The rest outside China are also in trouble on software where the code in this now looks good. Again a contrast with poor old VW. I have a cousin who has just bought a Tesla Model Y for his fairly long school run with young children which was costing him a lot of money in petrol previously. If this had been available he might have bought this instead willingly, even before his wife insisted he did. Onvo and Nio, among others, really are going to shake up the market.
The L60 strangely, looks more like the Xpeng G6 body design. ..both looks like a decent Suv against the Model Y.. more options = more fun. 🎉
The NVH in rear is more pronounced than other cars from Europe.. is this the case for other premium Chinese NIO ET9 love to see your comments on ride comfort
According to Bjorn Nyland's tests, the NVH of Nio cars are the best, the EL8, EL7 and the ET7 ranks in the top 5 of all the cars that he tested.
How's the smell inside the car?
neutral
A great review!
It is a very competitive vehicles. It will take a good market share.
Getting an interference noise on your mic output?
Hm no, where?
I like it, also i may buy it when its in Europe
Really impressive . 20k !?
With battery renting, with the battery it's 30K USD for comparison.
I don't mean to question your independence, nor do I believe that editorial considerations are influence by the brands, however, IF it's true, I believe your transparency notice (" Transparency note: Autogefühl videos are independent and free from editorial influence on opinion and rating. But since manufacturers enable us to do the reviews in the first place, for legal reasons this video is marked as _advertisement_. ") should ALSO mention that you didn't receive any products, cash or service for the videos that the transparency notice applies to.
In another matter, I'd really love to see more industry analisys videos from you! :)
The best of the best! Great review Thomas, i always enjoy watching your reviews. And like the humor.
thanks m8 !
Hey Thomas, greetings from India. Since you are in China (hopefully), could you review the Xiaomi Su7? Kyle from Out Of Spec Reviews channel did it in America. Would love to hear your thoughts on that car. I hope you will review a lot of vehicles from there. You can also connect with Wheelzboy.
Moto-X Fox
Interestingly, Nio is just releasing another brand called Firefly
Don’t you guys think this car looks similar to polestar 4 from the front too ?
The headlights make it look unique enough imo.
welcome to china thomas!
From what I see, Onvo is definitely better than Tesla
Not many in eu market want to rent yhe pack onvo, so know your market program
Better than all germans cars..😂😂 why ? Because 10/1 price tag❤❤❤ great work china
趁去中国出差的机会可以多试驾几辆中国的电动车😂
#Recycle it 😂
People don't want to rent batteries.
You can have the car with the battery too if you want to own it, it's up to you they give you the choice
口high 傻哔才会去用baas
😮 Thomas come to China 😮Will you test or go check more Chinese Car or cars from international manufactures here? In China we have two types of Passat sedan ------Magotan from FAW-VW and Passat from SAIC-VW( same platform but different outlook)😮
And so on... 😂
Welcome to China 😊
Probably a decent car, but - - - Individual decision (and depends how closely people follow world politics), but - I'm not supporting China (and hence thereby also Russia) by buying a reduced price Chinese EV. And for similar reasons, never buying a Tesla now that we know what sort of character Elon Musk actually is. OK, so, that's fine - I'm happy to pay a bit more for a BMW (or maybe a Honda … or maybe a Renault … shame the once great UK car industry is now gone).
What did China or Russia do to you? & what does the US do around the world? So you will buy only European EV's? Chinese EV'S are by far the best..
Toaster 👎 🍞 🤮 💩
I dont think the whole battery swap thing will work out. But the Onvo looks like a great car, its a shame that it has no personality at all like most chinese cars.
Yesterday they reached 61 million swaps. Its not about working out anymore. Big deal in China
@TheZwevegemsb not in Europe, however it does like a good car even without that bit.
RIP Deutsche Autoindustrie.
Al these chinese cars are the same. The same exterior and minimalist interior design and all have no soul or character.
But the price..
@@GlossaME I'd rather pay more for a Toyota and get the peace of mind instead of cheaping out for a communist car with unproven reliability.
@@AndrewTSq Tesla started as an expensive alternative aswell. In 2 years time, electric cars will be well below the price of an ICE car.
Only Tesla has soul huh...
