    I don't know why something this simple has never occurred to me. I was going to carve some teeth out of foam, but thanks to you, I don't have to do that now. Thanks so much :)

    @kevinchaggard Its latex and fabric applied pver a plaster headform, Im running out of time to make deranged masks because my opening day is rapidly approaching. Its basically the same process as my sock mask tutorial, except I often use burlap or scrim. I will eventually do a deranged tutorial. But it is down the road.

    @abcnoyes2 Im unsure of the wattage, but I dont buy cheap glue guns anymore. Spend at least $20 on your glue gun, its worth it. Home depot carries a good one. I used to have a $250 glue gun and I loved it, but it was stolen. I will have another one like it soon, Worth it. If you are going to try alot of my tutorials, then a good glue gun is a must, very under rated tool with tons of options.

    @Joxman2k Your theories are sound sir, I have done some shaping with a soldering iron also.
    By liquid acrylic I assume you mean acrylic paint, it works well but it is very opaque, I really like the translucency you can get from the leather dyes or even food coloring.

    Thank you for this tutorial. I used fabric glue all around and made bigger teeth and made a "crown" of teeth that is sure to gross out my players at an upcoming larp. I think every prince of darkness needs a crown of teeth.

    these are so cool. I love all your tutorials. Giving me some great ideas for projects this summer. Among them being a bit troll head that has taxidermy done to it. THese would be great to make a large line of for the teeth. So are the plates fairly flexible like hot glue tends to be when done? Like would a long one be able to wrap about to form an entire upper or lower gum/tooth set on a large mouth?

    I always enjoy watching you work. I'm more into the occasional bit of woodworking or other, less fine work, because I generally don't have the patience for much precision. :-/ The level of creativity you use in "repurposing" various materials and objects is amazing. Throw in the "editorial comments" at the bottom of the video, and it's perfect. :-)

  • @Joxman2k
    @Joxman2k 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've actually never thought of using glue sticks for teeth before. In retrospect it seems like a no brainer :)
    After looking at your techniques, and depending on the design, a person could use a simple Bic lighter to round off any imperfections when constructing them. Also certain metal tools or wires could be utilized to help shape the teeth and gums after a mild melting with a lighter, or even heating the tools themselves.
    What is your experience with liquid acrylic as a staining agent?

    Yes I did mean liquid Acrylic paint. Liquid as opposed to the tube form. Can you share your success with us about shaping with a soldering iron?
    I was thinking more of metal dental or general sculpting tools. I would imagine it is better to soften the glue, then push sculpt, as opposed to melting with the tool and pulling a sculpted line.
    :)

    I used a method similar to this. Instead I sculpted some teeth with water based clay, let them dry and pressed it into clay, the. Using hot glue gun/sticks I injected it into the mold. Outing the little teeth filled block in the fridge to cool down. Took them out of the fridge piped them out and they looked awesome. Would you by change know if creating some dentures using this method is safe for the mouth? I'm thinking on making some zombie dentures but idk if this way if this method is safe

    I have made silicone molds (with silicone caulk) and cut up low temp glue sticks to put in mold and put it in oven. If left in oven too long, you get bubbles in glue. Your way is probably just as fast or faster though.

    So how would you do a molar? I'm looking to do a photo for Halloween that's a bunch of teeth on a plate with a little bit of blood and some pliers- but I cant find 'em anywhere (aside from real human teeth on Etsy for 40 bucks a tooth).
    I imagine that it would be dividing the bottom of the tooth (the non snipped portion) like the roots of teeth do.

I'm always excited when I can find something around the house to use. Thanks, again.

    • @islandneni71
      @islandneni71 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You don't have to buy a silpat...they are soooo oexpensive!! All you have to do is get some contact shelf liner paper that is self sticking. Just get a square piece of cardboard and then peel the backing off the contact paper.The backing of the contact paper is awesome to use coz glue gun glue doesn't stick to it! I glue the backing onto the cardboard facing up that part that the contact paper was stuck on. It's cool coz you can use it over and over and it's cheap coz they sell contact paper at Dollar Tree.

    • @StiltbeastStudios
      @StiltbeastStudios  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Amazon sells them- there are several surfaces that hot glue will not stick to and you can use any of those, I like the silpat because I can bend it under the tooth to remove them so I dont need them to 100% cool down.
      Also My big glue gun gets so hot it melts most things a bit that are not silicone.
