Saw these guys live, front row around this same time in Springfield MO at the now closed Rockwell. Got to meet and talk to the bass player Ken Tizzard, what a nice guy and ill never forget Lemumba beasting on those drums too, during their last song he played his whole drum solo while taking his kit apart piece by piece and throwing them on the stage without missing a lick and then drumming with his hands....EPIC.

I saw them live about '05-ish. Pretty sure it was Fiddler's Green in Cambridge. I took a girl on our first date to see these dudes...and I owe Ian a beer. Also, Ian said he "rescued" Tavis from a wedding band....As a guitar player I thought that was hilarious. Tavis rocked (most or all of the show) on a Gibson Destroyer if I recall. I was about 10 feet from Ian during that show. No stage (that I remember), they just set up on the floor and killed it. I would pay serious cash to relive that show. Just saw Big Wreck a few months back.
i keep coming back to this video because the cymbal parts here sound SO MUCH BETTER than on the recording. knowing what the production was like on the album (thanks for the insight, Mr. Lumumba!) makes it make more sense.
That whole album (Come Again) is full of awesome songs ... Thornley rocks at this "phase" in their sound - reminiscent of some of the best Soundgarden. I think their sound/approach may have change a bit since that album, though.
Wow i never even knew Thornley had even performed on the tonight show with Jay Leno lol. I'm from Canada also & am a huge fan of Thornley & Big Wreck. I've seen Thornley live many times,i seen them in La Salle,Ontario,Canada which is just outside of Windsor,Ontario. & it was a free concert & Thornley were having many audio problems that night as the electricity kept cutting out & they'd have to start the song over again or just move onto the next song, it was a very sad performance which wasn't there doing but it just sucked because it was the huge Strawberry festival in La Salle,Ontario & a lot of Americans come over from Detroit,Michigan & Ann Arbor area etc with La Salle & Windsor being right across the river. But Thornley still managed to make light of the situation. I got to meet the whole band that night & took pics with all of them but lead singer/guitarist Ian Thornley wasn't in a very good mood & was very ignorant that night so i just chalked it off as he was having a bad day, were humans right? we have bad days, as well as he's the founder of the band (Thornley) & like i said the power kept going out so that's dam frustrating man!! But then i seen Thornley again in London,Ontario @Norma Jeans bar/grill & Ian Thornley was the same way that night to my lovely Wife & I, just very distant & ignorant as if it was a hassle to talk to us & sign an autograph for us,so that was very upsetting as a huge fan of his & for him to treat us like that two times in a row. My Wife & I were talking to his merchandise people which were two young woman which looked like to be in there early to mid 20's & we bought an autograph copy of the Thornley album,"tiny pictures" & we just got talking & they were very nice & my Wife ended up telling them about our two bad experiences meeting Ian Thornley & they both weren't surprised what so ever, the two girls actually apologized for Ian lol, go fucking figure eh that his road crew has to apologize for him, how sad really. But they were saying that Ian is very arrogant & needs to start appreciating his fans a lot better even when he has bad days. She said he's very nice though when he's in a good mood with his fans & it's a pleasurable experience meeting Ian but when he's having a bad day he makes everyone around him have a bad day & when your in that type of business unfortunately you can't act like that. We're human & i realize that but it just really turned my Wife & I off from Ian & his band for quite awhile until we got over those two bad experiences because of the way Ian treated us those two times in a row. But we still greatly love his music.
Ah, man, it's so weird seeing videos of my guitar teacher (Tavis) from back then. :P His style has changed a lot. And his hair is a lot longer. But he still rocks just as hard, if not harder.
It's too bad this band didn't stay together and keep writing music like this! I went to see them play in a small club when they were touring with finger 11... They were very good!
I played that prs for the first 4 months of touring before going with peavey. That was Ians prs. i borrowed most of his guitars early on because i only owned 1!!

Not crazy about the choice of this tune for a general audience. Those of us who know Big Wreck and the quality of the song writing I think this tune would scare the avg listener away from exploring Thornley's talent. This comes off as leather and chains Metal whereas I like the description Grunge . The voice unsubtle isn't what it used to be either. Not going to stop listening to them, I know they're better than this. Ashame because this could have been a springboard. I'd have liked to hear, "You caught my eye" but lyrics like ….." messy, drippin on the floor and climbing up yo thighs" I guess would have excited the censors.
Of all the albums to do, they have to do one of the 2 Chad Nickelhack homogenized and fukt up as exec producer. If you get a chance to hear the demos, even Ian said they're better

Ted - Big fan of both as well. Chris might have had an edge over Ian with their vocals, but Ian kicks the shit of guitar - literally one of the best of all time! Too bad it's such a secret.
