You probably already know this but since the original ink refill is a Parker-style refill you actually have a lot of options with that Kaweco pen. My refill of choice, in that style, is a Schmidt easyFlow 9000 but I have heard that there are better refills than that one. I just have not tried them.

      Sorry about the transatlantic delay.
      I’ve not tried that one.
I took this modified Kaweco out with me for the first time last yesterday, and won £60 at a quiz night. I reckon it was because of the pen 😎

Yay! I have also stuffed pilot G2 fills to other pen bodies... nothing beats the G2!

I can safely say I haven't circumcised a pen refill since I was a teenager - and I had inky fingers for days.

I picked up a couple Kaweco Brass ballpoints and replaced the cartridge with the Monteverde gel cartridge in blue black and they are becoming a favorite of mine. Thanks for sharing this.

Thanks for this. I may not get round to try these for a while, but I will add them to my list.
And I do like the look of those Kaweco brass pens - especially in the Sport model as I have so many of the plastic ones.

I ran into ink flow trouble with G2 cartridges in a Lamy Safari. I made a spacer by cutting a short piece from a Pentel Clic Eraser. It worked great. I cut it a little long for a compression fit.
You might find better security for the fit of your G2 if you deliberately cut it a centimeter short and used a squishy spacer from a pencil eraser.
Unfortunately, I found the spacer blocked the vent in the end of the G2 cartridge. My hopes were completely dashed until I realized I could pierce a hole in the side of the G2 cartridge above the ink, using my pocketknife as a drill. That resolved the vapor lock and allowed good ink flow.
In fact, it seems to write just slightly wetter with the extra vent. That could be my imagination. Whether or not the extra vent helps, it doesn't hurt anything at all. I've been using my Lamy G2 frankenpen for at least several months.
Sharpie S-Gel refills are the same length as G2 and the geometry at the tip also fits my Safari. You might be able to use an S-Gel in your Kaweco Sport with the same trimming and extra vent hole.

This is so interesting. I might discuss this in a future podcast episode.

@@Flatability The Uniball Signo 207 and 307 refills, the Pentel Energel (the refill for both the click retractable and more fancy Philography/Style metal twist mechanism) and the Zebra Sarasa refills (which have a ton of awesome vintage colors) are more or less all interchangeable except for the springs. Basically, the G2 has a small step at the tip of the refill (about 5/8 inch or 1.5875 cm from the ball) that the other refills do not. So the other 3 refills fit the G2 with its spring, but the G2 refill needs a different spring to go into the other 3 pens. Since you’re not using the spring, you’d be able to cut any of these refills for your Kaweco Sport.

Do you think you could do something similar withe the Kaweco ballpoint sport?

I like the way a Kaweco Sport handles, and I love the Pilot G2. So I’m pleased with this hack.

Is this supposed to be better than the Kaweco g2 ceramic gel?

This 1.0mm broad point G2, rather than the standard 0.7, definitely works for me.
