This branches off of a much longer stream with Andy and Mike, if you wanna hear more stuff in this sort of vein, that stream was called learning freestyle tricks with Andy Anderson
Bruh prolly would b awesome bc its like he would be teaching it objectivly i think… bc if u do alot of non ollie tricks that came before the ollie was invented i feel like you have a better grasp bc an ollie started out as an air on tranny and rodney just did it on flatground you know what i mean (prolly not lol)
This is video is such wholesome, positive vibes. Big fun. Awesome to see Sarah Park-Matott’s channel getting some love. I’m a 36 year-old beginner and her channel has been an amazing resource and source of inspiration. It’s so refreshing to see other styles of skating other than Ollie/kick-flip centric stuff. Andy’s metaphor of the closed doors in a corridor and everyone is in the ollie room really hit.
I love Sarah’s videos because her level is much more relatable to newcomers like me. I suppose Mike is someone she would learn from. Mike is apparently also very supportive of her content as he often ❤️ her posts on Instagram. Great to see a shout out to her here. Must mean a lot to her. Wholesomeness everywhere.
I'm currently 3 weeks into learning how to skate again at age 30. it's been at least 12-15 years since i last skated. back then it was for fun/transport and i never got an ollie down. I was starting to get discouraged because 3 weeks into it all "ollies" are doing to me is hurt my back leg. these tricks (and Sarah's tricks watching that next.) are gonna keep me going as i get my tridecade body into skating shape. thanks so much!
Do variety of tricks and exercises to avoid pattern overload. Switch stance also helps a lot not just for this, but also develop the body harmoniously, not just 1 side, which leads to disbalances and possible problems
Much more shoe for your buck than you're likely to get these days. 'Board feel' is a myth peddled by shoe manufacturers to save on materials while continuing to charge premium prices.
Love this so much. I really appreciate freestyle tricks. There are just so many awesome varieties of movements that incorporate your hands and feet. Your whole body goes into the tricks. Not just your feet and hips. Don't even need an obstacle. The ground is one big obstacle just waiting to be used as a canvas of fun. Rock on guys
In the early seventies I think we ollied without knowing it...I would go up curbs and sort of pop a wheelie, jump and unweight the board and then push down on the front when it was over the curb... eventually when you timed it right, you could go up curbs without your back wheel hitting the curb...I guess that must have been an ollie..There really wasn't any name for it.
Thankyou for this comment. I had a feeling for it today. But decided it wasn’t a proper clean “Ollie” I’m gona practice this until I feel more comfortable ollieng around obstacles
@@alenhanna6118 I have a weird issue where I do no-pop ollies.. but I can still get them off the ground like a normal ollie would. It's a bad thing to get used to
Another great video Mike! OMG...thanks Andy for mentioning "Street Survival" with Bill Danforth....I watched it and soaked in all that late 80s radness. I remember doing those awkward wall tricks - the liquor store man used to get so mad at us! I'm surprised I missed that one considering its from my era. I think my favorite movie from that time was "Future Primitive" (Bones Brigade Video II, 1985) - that is a must see.
Love all these videos man, learning a lot. I've been skating on and off for the last 20 or so years, but I'm just now getting into freestyling and it's like opening up a whole new door of skating like Andy said.
Yes you can do most freestyle tricks on a regular popsicle shaped board, but a freestyle board will make the tricks easier. The board usually has skid plates and offset wheels.
Just watching this video made my back hurt. The ollie is definitely easier than the around the world. Great video though. Good inspiration to watch during pre session stretching
Andy Anderson needs to be contacted to take part in a history of skateboarding documentary, he is clearly not only passionate about the sport but the history as well.
I don't Ollie coz [i love my deck too much and] cant afford a new deck so ive been milking no pop tricks to max, i started properly skating focusibg on my basic pivot set [which isn't one foot, also F*ck kickflips] and they're all so different, fakie backside is the funnest, nollie backside is the scarriest; i chicken out and split it to a 90 90 pivot and people think it looks great, i know people 😋
You have hit the nail on the head 😮.... The reason skate has become so chumped down and 75% slower than I walk 😂 is because new blood doesn't understand principle.... They don't want to take time to learn to actually ride the thing..... It's straight Ollie..... I want real man sk8 to come back.... Shaped decks and real wheels..... The gimmicks of skate need to go !!!😮😮😮😮
I actually want to see Andy’s tutorial on ollies because I like the way he explains things.

always cool to see some non Ollie tricks. Thanks Andy & Mike
Thanks for showing us the way, Yoyo!
Sarah's voice is soooooo hypnotic.

Please make more videos like this that very helpful for me, hope one day I can skate with you
Always welcome at the Sunday sessions!
2:54 Those shoes bring back memories of the Airwalk Vic model from waaaaaay back.

Could listen to Andy and Mike talk for hours LOL
so cool you guys got to meet up, skate, chill and teach us some tricks!
Those etnies are crazy looking! Bet they are great for saving laces when skating transition and vert.

Rodney Mullen himself said that they kinda started doing ollies strictly for getting up curbs

Love Sarah's channel! I've been subbed to her for a while now.
I wasn't expecting Andy, Mike and Sarah in one vid. Nice! :)
This is super inspiring. I suffer with arthritis but I don't want to do any jumping tricks until I get super creative with simply cruising.
Shout out Sarah!
We need more freestyle-tutorials like this!
I love seeing this. I grew up across the street. And also big Anderson fan. Awesome.
What is that yellow board? Looks cool
Those first lines from Andy was spot on! Everyone hangs out in the Ollie room.
Couldn’t have said it better 😀
Dude, I cannot wait for all of us to skate again. I feel like everyone has such great ideas after spending a year locked inside 😂

Love seeing Andy in more videos! Solid shoutout too ;)
Andy said he got all his tricks from " Street Survival - Bill Danforth"
1hour long How To Skate video!!!!!!! Hope this opens doors of creativity!!!
the amount of money i would pay to have andy and you explain every single trick you know in depth... a gazillion dollareedoos
I do a lot of tricks like the last one but I do I been plant positioning to do the 360 finger flip
Really great video! I'm workin on the j walks now! Thank you!
Woah, Sarah is tangently related to Andy
"Mairéad, wanna film a short later"
- too..... many...... jokes...... 🤯
Respect to all forms of skateboarding
plus a dash of anger
Robbie: ARGH!!
🤣🤣🤣
Robbie is the using hero of this session. Tried every trick, taught a trick, invented the hand-off. Dude’s a tank

What kind of skateboard is that? and the brand? The yellow one
The “around-the-world” trick was a lot easier than I thought it was. Literally learned it within an hour. I might post one on my channel.
In here doing some research on Andy's Shoes...
Because I need them in every colorways when they release
I can do my heel flip direction finger flips but I never got the kickflip direction ones 🤔
That board in the thumbnail is a platipus board? Thats the brand Zarosh is doing, so cool, his dirtboards are sick!
Is SMS 9 available yet? So hyped you and Aaron got together
Yep!
You guys are the best skate dancers around.
Thanks Jim! Miss you
that fingerwrap highfive was awkward af lol
I managed to do a couple of J walks today!
trash at my street tricks so gonna try learning the first one. great video
Can you still do freestyle tricks on a normal larger board? Or is freestyle like a completely different sport with different equipment needed?
Yes you can do most freestyle tricks on a regular popsicle shaped board, but a freestyle board will make the tricks easier. The board usually has skid plates and offset wheels.
Just watching this video made my back hurt. The ollie is definitely easier than the around the world.
Great video though. Good inspiration to watch during pre session stretching
Where did he find those Airwalks?????
This is awesome!!!
Sarah, sorta, as a guest. Noice.
More viedeos with andy 🤙🤙🤙🔥
Eazy, Thanks ya bro
Thank you!
Freestyle is cooler than I thought. Free movements😯😲😀
How do you get speed from monster walks?
Leaning forward with your shoulders each time you swing helps to move the board around.
Andy, what the hell do you have under the tail of that skinny skateboard? It seems to be another of your amazing ideas :)
It’s a tail brake. They used to sell them in the 70s I think.
How is this channel not bigger
I want to see those roller skate tricks too.
I broke my ankle and cant ollie now because it hurt ... sou this is perfect
Heck yeah
Holy shit I needed this video
What board was Andy riding in the begginning? Is that a penny board!?
old school banana board
AA brings the skate wisdom ⛑️🛹🙏
Legendary statement in the begining
Good to see freestyle influencing skating again. Without it, there would be no modern street.
Mike what pants are those. Swag pants
Is there already a coconut wheelie tutorial?
Yes, but we’ll work on an updated one. They’re a strange nut to crack
Andy Anderson needs to be contacted to take part in a history of skateboarding documentary, he is clearly not only passionate about the sport but the history as well.
According to the thumbnail this is gonna be a teen love story with his board.
Yo but WHAT SHOES IS HE WEARING
Very true..alot of tricks you got to be a bit angry and progessive agressive to manuever

2 mins Into a 13 minvideo about tricks and zero skating has happened. You talk to much.
I never knew those were called yo-yo hops. I like to do yo-yo judo finger flips. I now have to try the yo-yo tre finger flip.
