It's awful to say, but until there is this type of mass shooting at an elite Republican school, the gun problem will be blamed on the killer. The Republican elected official, as long as he or she is not personally affected, will not care about the gun problem; he or she will always prefer campaign financing from the NRA to the safety of the citizens.

One of the leaders Biden met on his trip was the new Australian Prime Minister. We had a number of mass shootings until in 1996 a gunman shot and killed 35 people. The conservative government, in defiance of the protests of some of its base, but with the support of the overwhelming majority of the Australian people brought in a ban on semi-automatic weapons and other measures. We have not had a mass shooting since.

As a Canadian, I believe that when 18-year-old boys wake up in a murderous mood or with premeditated self-defence in mind, their very limited (if any) access to handguns and assault weapons drastically limits or prevents shootings.
There is no such thing as a Legal assault weapon. An AR-15 is NOT an assault weapon. It does not have a 3 shot setting or a full auto setting. That is what an assault weapon is. Not what the Firearm looks like. But its capabilities. Any weapon that is not able to be used in a multi shot or full auto mode is not an assault weapon.

Why is there an inability to have measures that control fire arms?" I cried with him. We all feel the fear. Those kids, school teachers, parents, grandparents, communities - everyone grieving and full of fear. There is nothing fair about this. Nothing.
The best thing for any parent at this time is to move their kids out of this country. My daughter, son in law, and my grandson moved to Canada at the beginning of the year. And I miss them like crazy, but I've never been more sure that they made the best decision than I am today.
So glad I live in Australia. We had one mass shooting and the community, the country as a whole lobbied for gun control. We have commonsense gun laws. We don't have mass shootings in our schools. Americans need to raise their voices as a community to protect their children.
there are horrible people in the world, would be nice if that was not true. Why people believe by having guns, it will or they will be able to stop a nut from taking over their country. What it will do is start a revolution of our two party system. The idea is a good one, what really happens is another story. No teacher was armed and kids died, no police officer was ready to go in. We have a country with different people who all have different intentions. You have to be lucky you don't have that in Australia, why I would like to move there, but I see people are moving out of New Zealand to Australia and to other countries, we can't find the perfect place. I have found it due to weather, but not people. Even my original country Spain has problems, if you could arm them, they would start a war in no time. Yet today it's like Japan. Our politicians took money from Germany and now will never be able to pay it back. Is it the people's fault that a politician purposely took money knowing it would cause harm. We can't deal with politicians, if we had guns, we believe they can't take away our rights and land. Today where I live, the police will let a criminal get out of jail immediately. If this shooter killed people in California, our governor would go to give him a prize and even George soros might call him to congratulate him, along with our DA, would make sure he gets out to commit more crime. So true. This is a completely US thing. Never hear it anywhere else on earth where kids at school regularly get killed by all the guns out there. Even more unique to the US is the pushback on gun control in that country following mass killings. Sadly it's a cultural thing at root. Even US progressives, when discussing the need for some form of gun control, they go out of their way to clear out that they are not against gun ownership, that they too practiced shooting in their back yards etc. This only happens to the US because it's considered so normal to own and practice usage of guns in the first place. Where I live, gun ownership is generally banned unless you get a permission, and culturally, if somebody is tinkering with guns, people will assume there must be something going wrong with them, instead of thinking "it's ok, they're just exercising their constitutional rights". People still have their problems, mental health issues or otherwise, but their mind just doesn't go into killing their classmates or committing suicide by shooting people until somebody shoots them back, solely because guns are not supposed to be a part of their lives in the first place.

Hatred needs to be treated (with love, preferrably), lying needs to be punished in a consequential way, especially for public offices. Hate and lies serve the abrasion of freedom by bringing misery and fear and covering up dishonesty.

Which country in Africa? There are differences.
One of my best mates, an Australian, lives in the US, having married a US woman. His son has been diagnosed with Oppositional Defiance Disorder. So what presents do his US grandfather buy him? 3 guns. That’s right. 3 guns. He’s 13 years old. God help your country, because you won’t do it yourselves.

'A uniquely American way of death' is a chilling statement that should make everyone in Congress stop and think about the gun legislation in their country. NO CHILD should EVER have to be terrified of going to school - NO PARENT should EVER be terrified to send their kids to school. Along with the overturning of Roe vs. Wade, America is hurtling back into the Middle Ages - there are so-called *third world countries* who are more societally mature than America appears to be right now.
Hurtling back to the middle ages? more like the dark ages.

Lmao. The middle ages didn't try to outlaw bow and arrows or swords. Children back then had to worry about raiders coming and killing their families then being enslaved themselves. Also if you ever go to a 3rd world country you will see atrocities that could have been prevented with guns. It's worth mentioning that more crime has been stopped by guns than have been perpetrated by them.
Yep. Great to help Ukraine fight the Russians in Putin's proxy war, but this country is sinking even with a sane man in the White House. Praying for a solution. How do you plan on:
1. Identifing the crazy.
2. Stop them from buying a gun.
3. Know the exact location of their attack.
So what's the plan? Even the FBI can't do that.
@@youtubesucks1499 Simple.
1. Increase spending on mental healthcare that was drastically cut during the Reagan years and following presidents. Get the people suffering from mental health issues the help they need.
2. Outlaw all automatic and semi automatic weapons. Rifles and hand guns. All of them. If it means to repeal the second amendment or amend the amendment, do so. Close down the legal person to person sales of firearms. Gun shows etc. by making it permitted only by licensed individuals. Then have a nation wide buyback, confiscation and melt down of all banned weapons. Also, make it a requirement to have a license to own a permitted firearm with background check, psych evaluations, and safety classes. Renewable every 2 to 4 years. Make it legal and mandated for the ATF to keep digital records of all firearm sales. The ATF is the only govt. agency that has, by law, not been permitted to keep digital records. Everything is done by paper file. That is 100% deliberate.

I remember when hatred and spewing lies was absolutely unacceptable. Now it's normalized as a protected right under "free speech". That's not a good developement, people. You need to work on that.
Hatred needs to be treated (with love, preferrably), lying needs to be punished in a consequential way, especially for public offices. Hate and lies serve the abrasion of freedom by bringing misery and fear and covering up dishonesty.
This path to hatred was started by Speaker of the House Knute Gingrich, and it was perfected by the man I voted for for president, Donald Trump. This hate is destroying our country. We are looking at our demise in slow motion.
