Y’all keep planting so many yummy vegetables. Matt looked tired on this video, with good reason. Gardening is a lot of work! That was a nice refreshing treat to make for Matt.
When I make lemonade, I start by immersing the lemons in hot water for a few seconds and then wipe off the wax they use to make them last longer. I pour my sweetener in my gallon pitcher (I use Splenda due to diabetes), add five or six peelings of lemon rind (cut thin so as not to get any bitter white pith), mash the rinds and sweetener with a wooden spoon (releasing the essential lemons oils), juice my lemon halves (from three or four lemons) into the pitcher with a lemon press (this keeps out any seeds), add water to two thirds of the pitcher, mix well and add ice to the top. What a gloriously refreshing beverage on hot summer days.
A few seconds in the microwave makes it much easier to juice oranges and lemons. Thank you for your videos I look forward to watching every day. Best wishes to you and your family from the U.K
Tipper, Working in the heat takes so much out of the strongest and I could tell Matt was plum tuckered out & didn't even feel like talking. Working in the heat & pushing his limitations takes my hubby two days to refresh & get his energy level back. Gardening is hard work but rewarding & i'm thankful Matt has the tractor & tiller to help make his days easier. God bless you & your hard work.. love y'all.
Matt seems like a pretty quiet fellow by nature. Sometimes, we men just like to listen to our ladies talk to us. We may not pick up every little detail, but we know that when our wives are talking to us, she cares, and when we listen, we do. Hope you're having a wonderful day!
Love homemade lemonade! We squeeze our lemons over a juicer and use like 10 lemons and lots of sugar. We call those yellow flowers Moonbeam. Enjoy your channel immensely!
Wow that cabbage really has done well, like thirty plants, doesn´t seem that long ago Corie & Matt planting them. What a nice refreshing treat for Matt, who looked like he was wore out. Will have to try the lemonade from your cookbook. Thanks for sharing with us! 😊
I think it's wonderful you & Matt can work together and be so happy. We had friends that worked together thru the years and we thought they were gonna divorce each other. 🤣 They got thru it. I haven't made lemonade Tipper in 20 years or so but I will now. Love your videos.❤
Before we moved to where I am now in Roanoke County, we had a large garden. We had a gentleman who delivered eggs from his farm on Bent Mountain in nearby Floyd County, VA. He would bring us a pickup load of chicken manure and our tomatoes love it! Ours were three times bigger than our neighbors. Skip Salmon Turkey Bottom, Roanoke, VA
I'm so glad you tried the radish beans. I also chop them up and put them in potato salad or when I make pasta shell salad with shredded left over chicken for a fast and cool summer supper. Since Matt doesn't like radishes you can chop them and add them to yours just before eating. Once my radishes are done for the spring season I plant more radishes when it gets hot just to have them bolt to grow more radish beans. We all love them so much. And yes, I also satay them in butter and garlic for a stir fry dish. They are also great just thrown in a fresh garden green salad. It just wouldn't be summer without them at my house. Oh, and it was my dad that taught me about the radish beans. He never let anything go to waste.
A few cubes of ice would have been great in that frosted glass. Hard work in the garden but the end result is the best. Love yall. Thinking of your sweet mama hope she’s doing better.
A trick I’ve learned and started using this year with my summer squash is growing them up in side of a tomato cage. It keeps the whole plant off the ground. Helps fight the bugs. Happy growing.
Gardening is hard work. My Grandpa had two huge gardens on his hog farm. They demand a lot of attention. Y'all grow so much good vegetables. I love watching y'all make it all prosper. ❤
Those jelly jar glasses remind me of the glasses that came in packages of oatmeal when I was a child. Garden is looking good. The heat saps Matt like it did me when I used to work for the phone company.
I love how passionate you guys are about your garden!! That lemonade makes me so thirsty! It's so wonderful to see how you enjoy the little things like homemade lemonade😊
That lemonade brings back memories of my childhood. My mother made fresh lemonade every Sunday to have for lunch. We always looked forward to that. She cut get lemons spiral and we would fight over the lemons when the drink was gone. I really enjoyed the video today! Love you all.
I work from home, looked out my office window and saw my first sun sugar golden tomato I ran out on my break and enjoyed it right off the vine!😂 the season has started!
My mother would buy Bama jelly and keep the glasses for drinking. We also had dishes from Brez detergent. Dolly Parton was their spokesperson in the 60s.
It so hard to keep up with outside chores. We've had rain, power outages, and some high temperatures. Everything looks so good! Matt's going to need more lemonade 🍋 this summer working in the garden... And you both will be needing plenty of rest as you soon become grandparents with two little grandsons. Continued prayers for you all. Taking the only way we can. One day at a time! Praying and Blessed! 🤗🙏💕👣👣
What is even better is limonada fr Mexico. Made in the same way, but with limes instead. And, to spice it up a bit, use sparkling water in it. It is my favorite when I have gone to Old Mexico.
I loved this video. It brought back so many lovely memories from my own life. My husband and I planted a garden every year. I loved feeding my family out of our garden, making Squash Relish, pickling Jalapeno, canning green beans, and freezing purple hull peas. When the neighbor boys came for a visit, I made some fresh lemonade and fresh-baked oatmeal cookies. The boys and my children really enjoyed that snack and beverage. I like using radish leaves (when they're young) like I would any green like turnip, mustard or collard. Growing up in the 1950s and 60s we had jelly jars for glasses.
My daddy made the best lemonade ever…even mama said his was better than hers..it was always a “treat” when he made it..sure do miss both of them….I use to have a lot of jelly glasses but no idea what happened to them…thanks for bringing back memories ❤
I do not have a garden, but I love tomato sandwiches almost as well as Mat does. When I went to grocery store on the 1st they had ‘huge tomatoes’ from a local farm. So I bought 3 of them. I sliced one and each slice is as large as bread. Tonight I wanted a light snack, so I used one slice of bread cut it in half may’ed both halves cut a slice of tomato in half and put it on breaad, salt and peppered it. Then I had an idea. I love hamburger dill pickle slices; so I covered the tomato side with dill pickle slices. It was GREAT! Tell mat to try it.
I’m with Matt on the anything lemon. It’s my favorite flavor. Mom always made a lemon meringue pie for me at Thanksgiving and Christmas when I was growing up. I haven’t made lemonade since I visited my dear friend and second mother many years ago. We picked the lemons fresh from her tree. Best lemonade I ever had.
I picked up a delightful tip about Lemonade. Everyone but me may already be familiar with it 😂 To get County Fair style lemonade... ▪︎ Juice the lemons (set juice aside) ▪︎ Take a FEW peels from the juiced lemons and twist them (gets the oil in the peels going) **** too may peels give it a bitter taste ▪︎ Put the twisted peels in an air-tight bowl or ziplock bag with the sugar you'll be using for your lemonade. ▪︎ Seal the container ▪︎ Let the peels and sugar sit for 4 hours (at least) up to overnight. ***** careful, peels sitting too long in the sugar causes the same bitterness as too many peels; the number of peels depends on the amount you're making and the ratio should be more sugar than peels. ▪︎ After a minimum of 4 hours, the peels and sugar turn syrupy. ▪︎ Pour a small amount of water into the bag or bowl with the syrupy peels to losen everything up. ▪︎ Remove the peels from the syrupy mixture. ▪︎ Put lemon juice, ice, the desired amount of water, and a few lemon slices or wedges into a pitcher ▪︎ Pour the syrupy mixture into the pitcher with lemon juice, ice, water, and lemon wedges/slices. ▪︎ Mix and enjoy!!! I know you all prefer the simple version, but this recipe DOES NOT disappoint!! **Update: I forgot to add the part where you use the juice from the lemons when you mix everything. You may only need a small amount of juice, if you use it at all.
I love your gardening videos because I also loved gardening as a younger woman. I miss soil prep and planting, weeding and harvesting, and mostly the benefits of beautiful foods and flowers. I never did container gardening except for a few raised flower beds, which were mostly for cut flowers like zinnias, mums, black eyed susans, cone flowers, hyssop, monarda/bee balm, and coreopsis. I love your cow panels, which I never used but instead had trellises and cages made out of anything I could get my hands on. I miss gardening and truly enjoy seeing your gardens, start to finish, each year.
I love jelly jars, the best was the TW Garner jelly jars because the rings kept your hand from slipping and rhe jellies and jams were great. I kiss them cause they stopped making jams and jellies due to so much demand for their Texas Pete hot sauces and salsas, bottled red peppers, etc.
That was so sweet of you to make lemonade. I made a lemon pound cake today for the first time. It was so good...according to my hubby. I just love seeing the progress of your garden.
Every time you mention butternut squash, I think about my Mom and Dad. He loved sweet potatoes with brown sugar and marshmallows (and anything else sweet). So my Mom found a "recipe" where she cut the squash in half (top to bottom) , scrape out the seeds, and filled each half with brown sugar (and maybe a little butter) and put them in the oven to roast. Each person got their own half. It's a great fall memory. Like Granny making lemonade, this was my Dad and my special treat! 😃
I have never seen anyone make lemonade this way. I juice 6-8 lemons and add to the heated water/sugar mixture. I only put a few lemon slices in for looks. 😉It looked refreshing after all that hard work. It’s hot here in Florida which is when I hibernate. I’m with Matt on the heat and humidity. I’m always thankful for your channel. Thank you for sharing.❤️
I love lemonade! But have not made it in years. My mom used to make homemade oatmeal cookies and lemonade for us as a special treat when we were kids. Tipper, thanks for reminding me of this. It is a sweet memory. I love the garden videos you and Matt share with us. Have a wonderful weekend.
Love homemade lemonade, everything looks really good all of the good works you and Matt works really hard. I have a few jelly jars I drink out of, I love them ❤
You and Matt and the girls have got me constantly thinking of making a garden... I'm not a green tumb as we say here... and when I've tried in the past I've always failed... but watching you guys I want to give it another go... wish me luck lol
I’m a gardener of sorts. Tipper inspired me to start all sorts of things from seed this year, including herbs, veggies, flowers. “Seeds want to grow” she said and I bought much less from the nursery this year and started my own and have extra to share😊
Have you ever made candied lemon or orange peel? The lemonade made me think of it. I use to make it and have a good “way of doing it”. Most times, you hear about it around the holidays. I always enjoy your videos.
After having been gone for a couple of weeks, weeds and natural prairie here in MO are taking over my yard. And it’s done nothing but rain since the beginning of May, which makes them grow, grow, grow. Fresh lemonade is so delicious!
What a lovely garden! Ours is small, but bigger than last year's:) We also use mushroom compost, we live in the "mushroom capitol" of the world here in southeastern PA, there are composting operations all around and mushroom farms everywhere. The compost you buy may have originated here.:) My grandfather was a pioneer in the mushroom industry but my father wasn't able to continue the business... I feel so relaxed after watching your videos, such a happy family... 😍
Was passing through Cheerokee County, NC yesterday. Thought of you folks as we drove though. The glass Matt is drinking lemonade in looks like what we would get peanut butter in when I was a little girl.
We love lemonade. I don’t like the white between the lemon meat and the rind. It can get bitter real quick…I peel all the white from the lemon.I let the sugar melt in the water. I just heat the water until the sugar is dissolved…no bitter taste.
As soon as you mentioned jelly jars, my mind flew right back to my childhood. Working on the farm and in the garden with my grandparents was not for the faint of heart. Between the heat, weeds and bugs, it was almost unbearable. But, the discomfort was all worth it the minute my grandmother brought out a huge tray of homemade lemonade and frozen jelly jars (and Mason jars) filled with ice. What a special treat on a very hot day!! I still make homemade lemonade the same way - simple syrup, real lemons and lots of love! By the way - - not sure if you and Matt heard the cardinal(s) "chirping" toward the end of your video while you were speaking about where the jelly jars came from (Granny Gazzie, etc...). Reminded me of a saying... "When Cardinals appear, loved ones are near." Thank you for another GREAT video! 💗
I love ice tea in a good old mason jar best thing to drink out of i had a lot of peanut butter and jelly glasses they don't make them anymore stay cool God bless you all
Lemonade is the best!! I make mine using the juice, pulp, & seeds. I juice the lemons. Put the juice in my vitamix with the pulp and seeds (not the rinds.) I puree them all together. I use 1/4 cup of this puree in a quart jar, add a few ice cubes, 1/4 tsp diamond kosher salt, and a squirt of liquid stevia (I buy liquid stevia from Trader Joes, or make my own.) The pulp and seeds add to the nutrients and tang, the salt gives a boost for sweat loss, and the stevia means it's sugar free. Delicious and replenishing after some hard work! I divide the puree into 8 oz freezer jars and freeze, so I always have some to thaw when I want some lemonade. ☺
I enjoy seeing all your green.haven't been able to get any more seeds planted. Getting old. Oh, I found you something at a house sale, hope Mary can get it sent next week.God Bless. 💚&🙏🙏'ers to Granny & all. Jean

I make lemonade ice cubes and keep them in a plastic bag in freezer. Stays colder and doesn't dilute you tasty treat!
Ooh I’m going to do this! 😊
Y’all keep planting so many yummy vegetables. Matt looked tired on this video, with good reason. Gardening is a lot of work! That was a nice refreshing treat to make for Matt.
A little butterfly landed on your right shoulder, sat a few seconds and then over to the yellow flower in a pot behind you. So cute.
I enjoy drinking out of jelly glasses. It reminds me of growing up when Mom saved every one she could get.
You two make me happy . So sweet and honest ! ❤ ❤
A few seconds in the microwave makes it much easier to juice oranges and lemons. Thank you for your videos I look forward to watching every day. Best wishes to you and your family from the U.K
Good tip. Hello from Atlanta Georgia USA.
And then roll them back and forth on the table top, really loosens them.
I did not know the microwave trick. Thanks!
I roll mine before slicing
A few ice cubes in those glasses would have helped with getting it cold. 😉
The cabbages look like they are exploding. Lots of good eating ahead!!!

Nothing like fresh homemade lemonade.
I love the crocheted dish rag, I crochet scores for my family and friends; it's not a lost art, as some say.
Can't wait to see the pumpkin variety and the beautiful sunflowers feels like it was just June and now here it is again .
Love homemade lemonade! We squeeze our lemons over a juicer and use like 10 lemons and lots of sugar. We call those yellow flowers Moonbeam. Enjoy your channel immensely!
Matt was so quiet. I hope he is okay! The garden and flowers looked beautiful.
A cup of hot lemonade is good for a cold.❤
Wow that cabbage really has done well, like thirty plants, doesn´t seem that long ago Corie & Matt planting them. What a nice refreshing treat for Matt, who looked like he was wore out. Will have to try the lemonade from your cookbook. Thanks for sharing with us! 😊
Gardening is hard work but so rewarding! Lemonade looked so refreshing.
Tipper thanks for sharing!
Before long there’s gonna be some good eating! Praying the Lord blesses your garden! 😀❤️
I hope so!
When you are working hard. Ice cold lemonade is the ticket for sure. Garden is looking great.
Back in the 40's & 50's my mom used to make a drink made from fresh squeezed lemons & oranges ( made to taste) .😋😋
Grateful Matt has tractor and tiller!
Oh wow! Who knew? Radish beans sounds devine. Thanks Tipper!
I think it's wonderful you & Matt can work together and be so happy. We had friends that worked together thru the years and we thought they were gonna divorce each other. 🤣 They got thru it. I haven't made lemonade Tipper in 20 years or so but I will now. Love your videos.❤
I love just anything with lemon. My mom used to make lemon bars and sprinkle powdered sugar on top. It was delicious ❤❤

Now you need to make him another orange cake for Christmas in July ❤😊 Hopefully both grandbabies will be here by then 🙏
That's what I thought the surprise would be
It looks like you guys have been working really hard on the gardens. They look beautiful. And the lemonade probably hit the spot!

Tipper did you see the butterfly that lite on your shoulder. That’s so sweet 🦋🦋🦋
I didn’t 😊 thank you
My mother used to cook carrots and parsnips together and told my daughter they were white carrots. We always enjoyed them.
A few cubes of ice would have been great in that frosted glass. Hard work in the garden but the end result is the best. Love yall. Thinking of your sweet mama hope she’s doing better.

Unless those are organic lemons ,the peels are coated with insecticides and wax . Bit it looks and sounds delicious
I picked up a delightful tip about Lemonade. Everyone but me may already be familiar with it 😂
To get County Fair style lemonade...
▪︎ Juice the lemons (set juice aside)
▪︎ Take a FEW peels from the juiced lemons and twist them (gets the oil in the peels going)
**** too may peels give it a bitter taste
▪︎ Put the twisted peels in an air-tight bowl or ziplock bag with the sugar you'll be using for your lemonade.
▪︎ Seal the container
▪︎ Let the peels and sugar sit for 4 hours (at least) up to overnight.
▪︎ Put lemon juice, ice, the desired amount of water, and a few lemon slices or wedges into a pitcher
▪︎ Pour the syrupy mixture into the pitcher with lemon juice, ice, water, and lemon wedges/slices.
▪︎ Mix and enjoy!!!
I know you all prefer the simple version, but this recipe DOES NOT disappoint!!
**Update: I forgot to add the part where you use the juice from the lemons when you mix everything. You may only need a small amount of juice, if you use it at all.
Thank you 😊

Every time you mention butternut squash, I think about my Mom and Dad. He loved sweet potatoes with brown sugar and marshmallows (and anything else sweet). So my Mom found a "recipe" where she cut the squash in half (top to bottom) , scrape out the seeds, and filled each half with brown sugar (and maybe a little butter) and put them in the oven to roast. Was passing through Cheerokee County, NC yesterday. Thought of you folks as we drove though. The glass Matt is drinking lemonade in looks like what we would get peanut butter in when I was a little girl.
Thank you for thinking of us!
Yep I wait till the last week of June then I start my squash plants by seed. I live in Ohio and it works. I hate those bugs they freak me out😮
Matt should try the lemon Outshine popsicles. They are delicious!
💗
Love those memories! Thank you 😊
I love ice tea in a good old mason jar best thing to drink out of i had a lot of peanut butter and jelly glasses they don't make them anymore stay cool God bless you all
Great video, the lemonade looks delicious
Love the video thanks for sharing 👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
So that's why you always have a pineapple in the kitchen countertop in the background. 😊❤God bless 🙌 🙏
