    Don't worry about getting content out. You have work to do and weather to beat. I thank you for showing us the Subsoiler. 40 yrs ago I worked making Brillion Implements. I remember the first subsoilers we made, and the modifications of the frame and the shanks after they we had sold some and flaws were found. When I see old Brillion Implements I feel proud that I might have helped make the one I am looking at.

    I always pull mine in the spring. The moisture from the snow will help get those shanks in and be a lot easier to pull. I also pull it as deep as it’ll go. Might as well make sure you get all the hard pan out.

    Loved seeing you drop the bale off the load the other day.it was funny.great idea that dubsoiler.you might have the 82 maxed out power wise pulling that.make sure you idle the tractor at least 5 to 10 minutes before shutting it down after pulling that subsoiler

    The subsoiler looks like a very handy tool. I hope you get a chance to use it soon. Aside from erosion, compaction seems to be a big factor that you can mitigate to improve your soil characteristics and thus, your yields.

    We had a very similar subsoiler like that here in New Zealand, only 4 shank though, we had 6 inch wide wings on the shanks, but no disc openers, we ran it on a 220hp MF and romp away with it, 130hp pulled it quite well too.

    I'm from Western Canada. I can confirm the saline layer on top of the soil. It's like a dusting of salt on the top of the ground. We see reduced yields in those spots, but it's not like nothing grows at all. Just run a cultivator over those areas and mix it in before seeding

    I had a old combo by unverfert disks shanks disks with toggles it was a real nightmare !!! Toggles breaks all the time cause it was some kind of cast material, we had some custom made in steal, it was better but the springs break too, metal casing fatigue cracks where The spings are!!! We all get rid of the toggles, torch a few things weld some kind of wings over the shanks and put some hydrolics cylinders with a gas accumulator . best things I have done to this machine

    If the soil conditions are right the Subsoiler can loosen a large amount of soil. I started using my 9 shank with a 4850 mfd back in the early 1980's.

    Just bought the same one, does not auto reset, 9 times out of 10 I have to stop and lift it up to get it to reset. Other than that it does a really good job. John Deere 8400 pulling 5 shanks 14" deep , 4.5- 5 mph is all I can get to they pull hard but they do open the bottom.

  • @ginggur17
    @ginggur17 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You’ll sure feel when she is in the pan. My dad used to pull a single shank pan buster with the 4230, she was usually within 3” of the frame. He then had a MF2680, initially pulling a twin shank pan buster. That was also usually between an inch and 2” of the frame. Both tractors used to bark when she hit the crust. There was none of the reset stuff back in the 80’s. Much later they put the MF on full duals, fronts also. Ballast all 8 tyres, with a 5 shank flat lifter. That really slowed her off. Looking forward to seeing the JD pull hard.

  • @steveholton4130
    @steveholton4130 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great, Informational Video, Ryan! I am an owner of farm land but not a farmer. I have heard of compaction for years but never understood it till now. Same with the terms hard pan and subsoiler. Is hard pan only a narrow band between the worked upper layer and a softer lower depth which prevents water and root penetration from getting into the soft lower depth? If so, it know makes total common sense to me to use a subsoiler to fracture it. sdh in the Tobacco Valley of CT

    Subsoiling is a need necessity for a farm, but the tractor it takes to pull a subsoiler has to be of substantial size. I think the 8235r is big enough for this machine but it might be at it's limite. You'll just have to try it and see....

    • @chucklesx
      @chucklesx 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah I think you'll find the readiness of companies to give free demos to Ryan has more to do with the fact that the machine could be seen by not only his 250k subscribers but also the people that youtube flag the channel too as being of interest. Loaning him a machine for a few weeks is extremely cheap advertising for it's reach, but it didn't happen over night, it's taken him years to build the channel and a following that companies are interested in persuing. If you think I am wrong start your channel and come back in a year and tell us how many free demos it has gotten you. :-)

    • @ndimec2117
      @ndimec2117 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Reggy_s True. But do we want to see a video of these implements or how Ryan uses this kind of equipment in his farming operation? if these guys want Ryan to advertise their tools. Let him suggest with a caption a video like this is more like a sales pitch. And this will drive us "subscribers" away. we are attracted to this page because of the intent that Ryan wants to share his farming experience. If we wanted to buy this sort of equipment, most suppliers have a page where we can see what each supplier has to offer.

    • @chucklesx
      @chucklesx 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ndimec2117 ... anyone that follows the channel knows he has both the ripper and grain cart on loan from the company and that the company has been involved in highlighting them, for the majority of followers the content is likely to be both interesting and relevent as it is a farm channel. If it happens to be a video that doesn't interest you then put your big boy pants on and make a decision to not watch, I highly doubt losing the 30 seconds of your life it would take you to see what the video is about would harm you in any way. It's not realistic to expect Ryan to censor content that 90% of his 250,000 subscribers would likely find interesting just because a few people may find it less so and it's even less realistic to think that he is going spend time and money to run the channel and not receive any benefit in return. Some viewers may see it as just entertainment but in reality it is part of his business, if people want to be able to dictate what they see then they would need to join a subscription service that is dedicated specifically to their needs and wants.

    Don't use the wheels, let all the weight from the subsoiler be on the tractor. Even the pull down of the shanks help with traction.

    Why anyone wants to use a inline ripper is beyond me. If you dont have a big enough tractor, there nothing but a huge boat anchor! If you want to rip, get a v riper! I have ran both and I always had a much easier time by far pulling a v ripper.
