The attendants job is to ensure the meter starts from zero .Thats the jobs basics.This does not look like a mistake.Looks like its done deliberately.An honest attendant will always show you the meter reading as "0" and then starts filling.

I have also experienced the similar issue few times. The latest one is just 2 weeks ago in one of the Indian oil petrol pumps, Pune. I took my car for fuelling...my car's full tank capacity is 36L. When I opened my car lid to fuel filling ...operator did not even bother of asking for zero meter reading and he started filling the fuel. Once the bill reading crossed 3600, I asked operator to stop and assuming my tank might probably be full. I paid the amount and left. Later I realised, my petrol indicator in dashboard was still left with two sign, which means they probably might have cheated me with close to 5ltr of petrol..
The same happened with me at India Oil, Mumbai. The meter started from 200. Luckly I was standing out and noticed. I shouted at them and they finally added the 200 petrol extra. The 2nd time as well they tried to scam me, but again I told them directly

It's not really a scam when pump is not used by more than 6 7 hours it can happen that's why they do 5 liter test every day before starting sale to remove air in pipe but this filled petrol in early morning before they could do 5ltr test so can't say it's their fault but i can agree on showing 0.0 is their responsibility
One more thing happening I noticed employees get payment to their personal account instead of the scanner present at pump, is this happen to anyone I think might be because of phone pe cashback which we receive when we pay through scanner is this so???

Bhai, there is a feedback book in every petrol pump. You can reach out to manager at petrol pump and record your feedback there. I have lodged a complaint at a petrol pump in Pune and they compensated.
This problem with digital machines ,whenever the machine switch off in the night and start in the morning it never start from zero .It always start from 4 or 5 some time 10 also. Only one solution is there you can ask them first do the testing in the 5 liter jar then you can fill the petrol. Thus issue occurred because or air pressure.

Always tell the person in charge to show before starting the pump and stay away from the nozzle. Sometimes they snap the lever of the pipe which leads to low flow of fuel

Petrol pump par vigilant rahna chahiye. Agra mein mere sath hi Aisa dhoka huwa tha. Pump ke employee ne Rs 200/- se start Kiya tha. Jab maine car start ki aur fuel indicator dekha to gadbadi lagi. Maine usko bahut gussa Kiya aur usne turant 200 de diye dar ke mare.
Bhai one more important thing everyone to follow that pump assistant shouldn’t be clicking the nozzle jet manually ask him to set the nozzle at 1 and let it flow until the end
Hose is full after one fill. If someone deliberately empty the hose pipe after that, the next customer gets less petrol an amount till the hose get filled again but the money calculator only keeps running till petrol reaches the nozzle. This is how it is cheated. Other way is: the money count meter adjusted at convenient start, during night shift
1 ltr is 1000 ml, so the machine should dispense 10ml per rupee considering 100 rs as price. Check for zero before nozzle is pressed. The pump cannot exactly start from 1 rupee as it is pressurised nozzle and automatically bursts open and dispenses more than 10 ml. As the attendent clearly mentioned the pump was not used for long time, due the pressure it might have jumped.
Bro I can feel what would be in your mind when an honest person is cheated by someone. I have too gone through like these instances. For your and everyone’s knowledge, I would like to share that you can submit a grievance on the petrol pump portal by easily googling it and the concerned team and the pump management have to take action for this.
I have also undergone such scam. But as my mother was with me, I didn't react much. My reading started from 10. Can you tell me how we can go and submit grievance. I'm not that fluent on internet
Flashers should always be used in bikes as bikes are smaller in size and a lot of times people don't see them when they drive subconsciously. These are not even called hazard lights in bikes
Hello NCR Bikerz, I own petrol pump and such issues can happen when Machine is operated after long idle time associated with minor leakage in piping system. Machine will jump without delivering any fuel to cover the air filled due to leakage. And let me be very frank that fixing such issues can be very challenging as technical team are not able to identify root causes of leakage. Once my staff identified such issue at my RO, we had adopted a practice to run the nozzle dry before delivering to first customer in morning to ensure the customer is not impacted till the time issue was fixed.
You should've called the police at the petrol pump. It is just 4rs for you but if they are doing this regularly per day they might be stealing lakhs per day.
Bro it's not their fault. It's happened, when machine is not using for 2hr or 3hr in that day. That's why I am telling you, What you have to do is, Tell them started meter reading with ZERO and wait for 5 sec to 6 sec. before that person took that nozzle inside your tank.

Petrol pump par vigilant rahna chahiye. Agra mein mere sath hi Aisa dhoka huwa tha. Pump ke employee ne Rs 200/- se start Kiya tha. Jab maine car start ki aur fuel indicator dekha to gadbadi lagi. Maine usko bahut gussa Kiya aur usne turant 200 de diye dar ke mare.

Hose is full after one fill. If someone deliberately empty the hose pipe after that, the next customer gets less petrol an amount till the hose get filled again but the money calculator only keeps running till petrol reaches the nozzle. This is how it is cheated. Other way is: the money count meter adjusted at convenient start, during night shift

1 ltr is 1000 ml, so the machine should dispense 10ml per rupee considering 100 rs as price.
Check for zero before nozzle is pressed.
The pump cannot exactly start from 1 rupee as it is pressurised nozzle and automatically bursts open and dispenses more than 10 ml.
As the attendent clearly mentioned the pump was not used for long time, due the pressure it might have jumped.

For your and everyone’s knowledge, I would like to share that you can submit a grievance on the petrol pump portal by easily googling it and the concerned team and the pump management have to take action for this.
I have also undergone such scam. But as my mother was with me, I didn't react much. My reading started from 10. Can you tell me how we can go and submit grievance. I'm not that fluent on internet

Hello NCR Bikerz, I own petrol pump and such issues can happen when Machine is operated after long idle time associated with minor leakage in piping system. Machine will jump without delivering any fuel to cover the air filled due to leakage.
And let me be very frank that fixing such issues can be very challenging as technical team are not able to identify root causes of leakage. Once my staff identified such issue at my RO, we had adopted a practice to run the nozzle dry before delivering to first customer in morning to ensure the customer is not impacted till the time issue was fixed.
True. This is just a machine error. Happens early morning. That's why 5 litre testing is done on every nozzle before beginning the sale.
You should've called the police at the petrol pump. It is just 4rs for you but if they are doing this regularly per day they might be stealing lakhs per day.
