I hired mike the magician for my son's graduation party. He was honestly pretty good at entertaining a crowd of a mostly sober mixed age group. The final act was weird, he made my wife's clothes dissappear and then tried to tongue her entire face, but my son was thoroughly entertained and he still talks about the "awesome magician" he saw to this day.
You REALLY didn't talk enough abut how creepy the judges are. Everybody involved loses.

Though, it IS also true that it’s generally more difficult to connect with someone when they’re in a group of friends because their attention is split between you and everyone else.
