So breathtaking the end, the applause has been cut, absolute silence when he finishes playing, just the music that echoes in the hall, everyone elaborates the music that they've heard. Magic
Emmanuel! You make me feel like a broken record. Going round and round and round! Here! Watch this! It's Dinoriders! You might be able to take a few tunes from him! Says James! ...Oh, I hate him! @@alhdgysz In my opinion one can't really tell wether a flutist is the best or not. There's definitely an elité of flutists (including Jasmine Choi, Yubeen Kim, Emily Beynon, Karl Heinz Schütz, etc.) but probably everyone who has studied the flute extensively could be the best. Do I know every single flutist in the World? No, I don't. And you'll neither do so. Furthermore I noticed that you're always talking bad about Galway. I don't really get the reason behind that. He's from a different flutistic generation. The style of flute playing changed. But he's inspite of that still an outstanding musician from whom we can still learn (He did not become a Knight for his artistic achievements without a reason by the way). Everyone has a different taste but we besides that we should appreciate every musician.
Btw: Galway isn't my favourite flutist, aswell but I appreciate him as a musician and human being. Furthermore his skills are by far better than the ones of most other flutists.
@@thoregulden4545 you are absolutely right, it is impossible to pick just one flutist as the absolute best. I mean everyone shines in different areas. However, I cannot help it. I genuinely find Galway's tone irritating and hard to listen. Unfortunately that horrible tone is spiced with his ugly ketchup vibrato. Truly terrifying. I mean he is everything I try to avoid while playing. I am working hard on keeping my throat open, use the cavities in the head to add resonance to the tone, keep the lips firm but not squeezed and maintain a centered headcount angle. I did not find any art or beauty in his playing. He did not show any tone colours, he sounds almost the same in every piece. For example: his attempts to play baroque music are laughable, his Chaminade is a total joke and lastly, his Khatcaturian is pathetic. You don't need to play in the 3rd octave to be heard. You need to know how to make a decent tone which has projection.... In concerts he is usually sharp (intonation wise) and rythmically unstable. He cannot play in a delicate manner, he cannot play with our imagination (ie.: Daphnis et Chloe solo). His playing is missing the soul, has no depth. But, he can play fast and his fingering is the best, yet it doesn't matter if you cannot stand his tone or 'style'.
@@thoregulden4545 for me musicality, tone quality and flexibility weighs a lot when judging flute players. That's why i find Pahud the best. (This is not absolute, this is my subjective opinion)
Pahud is among the best floutists EVER. Ach! those runs are beautiful, and the tone in the lower register is so rich. The lingering last note is the perfect finish. Fuminori Tanada's accompaniment was fantastic. Thank you!
I seen pahud push in his headjoint toward the end...its nice to see someone pay attention to tuning as much as he does...its just as important if not more than playing correct notes.
Simply irresistible, both Lenski's Aria from Eugene Onegin and Emmanuel Pahud's rendition. Master Pahud, you're unbeatable !!! Thanks for this Video !!!
I could listen to this all day. In fact, I think I will. Just gorgeous. And hello to Fuminori - great playing, too! We used to play together in Alain Marion's class at CNSMdP. I miss those days....
I like the orchestra and flute , gives like ... More body to the all music. And this was one of the piece that made me play again otherwise I would have my flute and piccolo in case
I cannot believe someone can be this talented!!!! well i can but OMG like it's perfect like the dianamcs and the harmony and balance is just perfect, i someday want to be like emmanuel and be a professional flute player!
needed this for a band essay, Thanks, now all i need to do is write the essay, send my teacher the video, print a picture and turn it in by tomorrow X3
The flute of the century from 2000 and still activ..thank god for this player..
M. Pahud est un magicien de la flûte. Merci pour exister M. Pahud!!! Le piano est aussi magnifique!
He just pours his entire being into this performance, it's hard not to feel overwhelmed with those searing highs and gorgeous lows. Unbelievable.

@@chitrumbo112 Yes indeed. It was just breathtaking.
James Galway listening to Pahud in the audience. Awesome!

Right? Absolutely beautiful
Same.
This piece/performance motivates me to push my boundaries even further, so one day, I might play this similarly
the most beautiful that I heard, Pahud played very sublime
Does anyone else like the flute and piano version better than the flute and orchestra? Or is it just me lol?
Both are nice, at least when it is "flute and piano" you can enjoy both instruments' sounds.
I like the orchestra and flute , gives like ... More body to the all music. And this was one of the piece that made me play again otherwise I would have my flute and piccolo in case
It is a lot more intimate
Magnifique!
