Fernando Sor - Op. 60 No. 1 - Classical Guitar

- The first piece in Sor’s Opus 60 is a lovely composition in C major. I attempted to interpret the right hand fingering how Sor may have played, by omitting use of the ring (“a”) finger. It is good piece for beginners, but more advanced guitarists can also take the relatively simple theme and expand its musicality.

Love Sor!! Good job Josh! I love the room you're in! The resonance is great! seems like an amazing place to play classical guitar 😊
Thanks, Philippe! Believe it or not, this is my garage (LOL). The resonance can be overwhelming for big pieces, but works amazingly well for these simple ones. I'm hoping to paint the walls and make it more of a professional background, and less industrial looking.
I had a jolly ole time listening to your piece well done bravo 👏🏼
Thanks, Todd! Yes, it's quite the catchy tune!
Bravo Josh! 👏👏👍
Thanks, Andre! I appreciate it!
Nice acoustics on this one, good natural reverb! Nothing beats that, bravo 🎉
Thanks, Justin! Very true, some people try really hard to get a similar sound to this in post when they recorded in their broom closet, but I've got it for free in the garage, ha ha.
Sounded good ..!!
Thanks, Dad! I appreciate it!
Beautiful piece and well done 🎶
Thanks, Florentin! I agree; it's a simple piece, but with a beautiful melody.
loved your wonderful guitar playing Josh ,,,,,,,,,,greetings Renee
Thanks, Renee! Glad you enjoyed!
Such a beautiful piece Truly excellent playing Josh Thank you for sharing🎸
Thanks, John! Yes indeed, sometimes the simples melodies are the most beautiful.
Great accoustic ! Well done , Josh!
Thanks! I'm surprised how many people have complimented this acoustic, since it's my garage. Because of this, I bought some paint and am going to spruce up the walls for future filming.
It is a lovely nice & easy piece....I enjoyed your take, Josh!
Thanks, Heino! Someone I know was working through this piece, but had difficulty with the fingering as written with a-m-i. Since Sor rarely used the "a" finger unless there was no other option, I figured I'd redo the fingering and provide more of a period performance example.
@@Josh.Vanjani You did a good job. Your version is delightful.
Really nice tones 👍
Thanks, Mette! Glad you enjoyed this one!
sounds great Josh!!! your classical guitar playing is so good!
Thanks, Muse! I hope to record more down here soon. I painted the wall blue last week, for a nice background.
😊Always a pleasure to see one of your videos Josh
Thanks, Drew! That's quite the compliment; much appreciated 🙏
What a nice tune! I always love the pieces that grow with you, as you mentioned - good for beginners, an fun to experiment with once you're more advanced!
Thanks, Madison! I agree, these "simple" pieces can be made more complex with phrasing, colors, etc., to show the performer's skill.
Sounded good a second time too!
Thanks again, Dad!
simply lovely!!
Thanks, Matteo! I appreciate it!
Great Music ❤❤❤❤❤❤sharing
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed!
Nice job!
Thanks, Steven! I appreciate it!
Eu já estudei essa, parabéns pela interpretação!
Muito obrigado, Gil!
Great Music sounds like mine. Keep it going.
Thanks, Alex! Glad you enjoyed!
Catching up on my "watch later" list finally... Sounds nice Josh, acoustic makes a difference. Just wondered: do you use reverb or any audio tweaking, I don't think I've ever asked?
Thanks, Steven! Great question. I try to keep my audio track unaltered unless there is a need to repair it. In this clip, I did have to "normalize" the audio, because I apparently had the microphone too far away. I figured the distance would give it a nice room note, but I had to turn the volume up all the way to hear it. Back in Maine I had worked out ideal mic positions so I could get an ideal recording every time without having to raise the volume, but I'm still working on it here. I'd also frequently record late at night in my room to avoid any variables and would have the mic about 2 feet away. I do, however, use a reverb setting called "Warm Concert Hall" when I do my montages at the end of shorter pieces (and for the entirety of my "Winter Wonderland" video). This both differentiates it from the original recording and creates a nostalgic/dreamlike aesthetic.
Like No 65 😎👍
Thanks, Georg! That's great to hear, I'm almost back up to the levels of engagement I had in spring, before I moved.
👏Great playing! Lovely piece! 😎
The picture becomes blurry after about 10 secs and then back to normal after about one minute. At first I thought it was the streaming quality but then it should differ with regard to the the blur (I watched it three times). Can you see it too?
Thanks, Tomas! I was inspired to try the Esteve in this one after seeing your own Esteve video. I checked in a private window and on my phone too, but I didn't notice any blurriness. Maybe it was the autofocus? Did you check on another device too? Hmm, this is a mystery. I can send you the original file if you want to take a look.
@@Josh.Vanjani No need for that. I watched it just now and the image was "sharp as a knife" as we say in Sweden. It must have been bad streaming quality after all. I'm not surprised since it happens now and then.
@@tomasericsson8720 Ah, glad the mystery was solved! In my Chopin ukulele video, I had added in 10% blur to make it "glow" and look "dreamlike," so I was worried maybe I'd toggled the same effect accidentally in this video, ha ha.
