I am Orthodox and I find such beauty in the Mormon Church. We are all struggling to try to figure out the true theology, but I am sure that none of God's children are an abomination. God bless all in His church. Christianity is one tree and He will bring us all to the truth in His one body.

excellent post Joshua Sykes. What we humans need to put first is our allegiance to humanity and the planet firstly and foremost. Unity in diversity.

No matter our life circumstances, ethnicity, culture, social class, physical appearance, health, gender identity, sexual orientation, nationality, or religion, we are all God's children. You are loved by Heavenly Parents and sent here to return to them. You have infinite worth and divine potential. Never forget that.

Love this talk, another great and inspirational message from Hope Works. I always knew this to be too, and this Brother has pointed this out in a lovely way. I do love our LDS literature and speakers, but at the same time I also love hearing positive messages from others, inspiration and divine guidance is for all humanity. When it comes to love of God, we all love him and know him in our own special way, and no way is better or higher than another. I am glad that this topic was discussed, as members we sometimes tend to think our way is better (just telling it like it is), but with gentle teaching and practice, we can change incorrect mindsets and see things differently. Once the mind and heart is open and not closed, oh me oh my, what an even more beautiful world it is that we live in, we see unity in differences not segregation.

As Samuel Hislop eloquently expresses, God designed the world to serve the best interests of all of His children in a masterful plan. Jesus Christ authored mutual reliance and service across partitions, even when he taught us concerning the body of Christ.
“And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.” (1 Corinthians 12:21)

I’m an Orthodox who converted from LDS and this overjoyed my heart; I still love my Mormon brothers, and I still maintain my testimony of the BoM (even if I don’t necessarily believe Joseph Smith’s prophetic claims). The love for Jesus Christ that I learned in Primary is what lead me to Orthodoxy and I’m proud whenever the two traditions learn mutual respect for each other 😊

how amazing to hear this lecture. I say this with love for Mormons. May God help them and all of us to understand Him better. Would it that we all come together again to a one, holy, catholic (meaning universal), and apostolic church. I will say I think the Eastern Orthodox are the place to start. This has not changed since the time of Christ. God help all of us in our human pride and our human misunderstandings. God bless us. God bless the monastics who pray day and night for the rest of us. Amen.

Excellent message! And so eloquently delivered! Thank you so much for speaking on this subject. I’ve recently come back to the The LDS church, after leaving for 30 years. This has been a separating notion that perpetuates an Us and Them notion, one that dictates one is right, the other is wrong. I love how well you’ve addressed this entire picture. Beautifully wise speech. Well done, and thank you.

I just said to a friend the other day that I am sure Ravi Zacharias was chosen to do exactly what he is doing namely to spread the love of Christ all over the world. I've heard him say things about Mormons and Joseph Smith which sadend me but I am sure his remarks are a misunderstanding of the facts rather than unkindness on his part and so I over-look it and enjoy the rest of his message :)

As a member of LDS and a believer in the gospel. If we want people to come to Christ, we cannot accept other beliefs and let them do what they do. I strongly believe that there are many many true Christians outside LDS, but Islam, Catholics and Jehovah’s witness have a very different view on God and on moral standards. I say this with love to all people in the world and I want everyone to come to the truth:) God bless you all!

🌷🌻🌷🌻I have been to many churches in my life! In Spain, England, France, but the one true thing I HAVE LEARNED IS THAT THAY WERE FILLIED WITH EMPTINESS, THE SPIRT WAS NO WHERE TO BE FOUND! IN FACT I FELT SICK BEING THERE, BECAUSE THERE WAS NO TRUTH, EXCET THEY KNEW JESUS CHRIST ,WAS OUR SAVIOR OF THE WORLD! BUT THAT WAS ALL THEY KNEW! I HAD TO LEAVE, BECAUSE I'M SO SENSITIVE TO THE SPIRT! IT FELT LIKE THE CHURCHES WERE MADE TO KEEP GODS CHILDREN FROM THE TRUTH, SO FAMILIES WILL NOT BE SEALED , FOR ALL ETERNITY!!!! THIS IS INCREDIBLY SAD!!😭 I KNOW WE ARE ALL GOD'S CHILDREN, AND THAT HE LOVES ALL OF US AND WE SHOULD HAVE RESPECT FOR OTHER'S WITH DIFFERENT FAITHS! AND THAT THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO DO GOID THINGS IN OTHER CHURCHES.

stardustgirl I relate to the experience you have shared. When I’ve been in the church buildings of other churches I’ve not felt closer or more in tune with God or the Holy Spirit when in them, probably less actually. Like a barrier. I think there are many good teachings, talks, sayings, practices etc of other religions though. Like unto this man in the talk who had enjoyed learning things from other religious peoples.

    • @RealTalk-RealFaith

Your feelings are valid, as all peoples feelings are. But all churches do good and help others in their lives. Your feelings could mean that particular church didn't meet your needs, but I disagree that there are overt evil designs.

I think a lot of members of the LDS church (I'm a member myself) get sucked into thinking that the the LDS church is LITERALLY the only "true" church. We're taught that our whole lives. Every testimony meeting at least one person says that. I don't think that's true. I think our church shares many truths with other churches. There are elements of our church that are unique and we believe those are vital to salvation. But let's not forget that an overwhelming percentage of people will never get baptized in this life. Virtually all of the work will happen after this life. What that means is it's not all about sharing the gospel. That's important. But loving other people is much more important. At least that's what I believe. If we love people they're more likely to open their hearts at some point. And even if they don't, maybe they'll be more receptive after this life.

I can testify! I have a friend who is a member of the LDS church, who is very kind, humble, honest, wise, and he's really amazing. At first, I opposed his beliefs, but when he showed lots of love and care, I knew he was from God no matter what he believed cause he was showing God's love for me. And now I really enjoy the lessons and teachings from the LDS Church (even though I am not a "member").

Its to bad the lessons don’t fall onto the ears of the leadership. They think nothing of excommunication for those who look outside the church doctrine for truth, they allienate vast communities of people, they donate very little the fallen, they are prideful and exert pressure to it members. They state they we are not perfect but perfection s inferred with all the lessons and drives people to suicidal thoughts and actions. Leadership can offend people with impunity and are above going through the repentance process.People who go inactive are forgotten, friendships pivot on the church and if your inactive they are considered lost. The church is trying to hold on to an old narrative that no longer works, stating the only valid truth is produced from the church. The only acceptable truth from outside the church is “truth that promotes the Morman religion, anything else is of satan. It divides families by alienation. It panders to world leaders and doesn’t respect the foundation of the country by keeping church and star separate. It’s absurd.

Dear bro hislop, it appears you have underestimated the scale, deceptions and corruptions of apostatized priestcrafts. Many have. The best parts of truth are set out, often unwittingly, like a baited lure on a hooked fishing line of mans doctrine. We would do best to focus on the general conference talks for guidance. These sacred and holy lessons begine to become songs to the ear in their beauty.

We share some common beliefs with many other churches, and we also have many unique beliefs. We believe, for example, that before this life, God our loving Father prepared a plan of salvation for ALL of His children, and that all of us born on earth chose to come here to learn and grow as part of His perfect plan for our eternal happiness. Jesus Christ and His loving and powerful sacrifice are at the center of this plan, which requires our correct choices (including repentance and obedience) in order for us to receive the fullness of God's joy and blessings. We believe that God is both just and merciful, and that eventually ALL injustices and pain will be made right and healed, and also that almost all of God's children will be rewarded with a degree of salvation, based on the degree to which they have accepted and relied on Jesus and His grace, which determines the kind of person they have become.

Harold Moran No, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is not just like the rest of churches. It has some things the same and some different. It is not just like the rest of churches though. It’s not just another church. It is distinct as it is ‘The only true and living church of Jesus Christ on earth’ and is the same church Christ organised when He was on earth, put back on the earth in preparation for His second coming.
