I was so lucky to be in right place at right time. 1966 I was teaching for DOD in Germany & Mr. Charles performed a show in Frankfurt and I went to see him. Back then my fav song was "Hit the Road Jack". I'm now 83 & still love his songs & piano playing & his incredible voice! I've shared his videos with my g-kids so they could enjoy hi m too. And I point out to them how he was always SMILING! Bet he's still smiling in heaven!❤

I tell you tears poured from the eyes on that one. My Grandma recalled hearing that sound when it first was coming out and thinking that it was probably the best thing she had ever heard. Just so, so good.

Yes! Everytime I hear that song it bring me to tears. My brothers and I went through some stuff with our father. Half the time he didn’t come home and during the night my brothers had to go out and look for him.
I've been a Ray Charles fan since 1959,I am now 79yrs old and I still am.
We are exactly the same age. I grew up in France but this song is part of the soundtrack of my teenage years. Ray Charles was an immense talent. Btw, these young backup singers are every bit as good as the original Raeletts.

I was fortunate to get to see Ray at the Super Dome before the Leonard/Duran rematch. He sang America the Beautiful a capella as an introduction to the match. Every hair on my body was trying to stand up. I've never experienced that before or since. The guy was an amazing talent. RIP Ray.
