It will run on 8GB just as well, its just that if you have more vram game will allocate more data in it but that doesnt impact the performance in any way.
It’s not the RAM’s fault game is just horribly unoptimized. Consoles have 16GB of ram yet you don’t see them struggling to run the game. Devs need to stop being lazy and fix this garbage ASAP.
Hey! Would love you opinion on my setup. I have a RTX 3080 (10GB) - Ryzen 5800x - 64GB DDR4 RAM. When I use the settings you are using in game, I don't get anywhere near the FPS you getting especially in the towns like Hogsmeade. You think my 5800x is a bottleneck when paired with a 3080 GPU?? I know the game is having some performance issues but yours ran so well with a 3060!
I was so surprised I could run the game at ultra and the card didn't get above 60c ever I thought my software was lying the game seems like it should be cranking it to it's limits on ultra 1080p
You can easily undervolt and save about 30 to 40 watts. Just push 950 mv to 2003 Mhz and test for stability. Hopefully, you will be good to go with that.
My spec : i5-12400f, 16gb ram, RTX 3060 12gb, i am playing at ultra graphic, high RT, DLSS Quality and my game is running 90 -120fps, sometimes drop to 75fps or just crash..

The games uses 19GB Ram on 1440p. Didn't expect that much. Is 16GB Ram instead going to affect the frame rate? and when yes, by how much will 16GB Ram affect fram rate?
@@ddtwo I dove a little deeper, and found out that the game just needs a lot of VRAM about 12GB min to not eat onto the RAM, and that it preferred AMD cards over Navidia. The RX7900XTX 24GB beat the RTX 4090 in almost every settings besides RTX mode. Check out Hardware Unboxed for the compareision they did an amazing job

How did you manage to maintain stable such high GPU core overclock? +140 on any Gigabyte factory OC cards is almost impossible to run stable.. is it because your memory oc is just +450? (since they all can do +1000mhz easily...)? And your power limit is apparently at stock?? Very interesting how is that stable, in many games it would crash immediately...
I have the gigabyte 12gb triple fan card. And can overclock it to 160mhz and 1000 mhz memory and stays stable while maintaining about 70-73 on temp. Appears as the 3060's are very capable OC

My RTX3070 has 50-60% usage xd (Even when usage is 100% I can see that power is 110W instead of 250W. Strange optimization). The problem with VRAM. It's super weird that RTX 3060 in this game is better than RTX 3070

Странно. У меня 3060 12гб ос 2х вентус мсай. Но проц еще не поменял. Стоит 7 6700 (не К) и во время игры 60 фпс на ультрах и иногда резко до 45-55фпс падает. То есть не как у человека на видео. И это с длсс вкл на кванти. При этом игра почему то занизила мне качество картинки до 76% зачем то. И так с этими присетами даже если менять графику у меня 60-68. Но всё ровно в городе падает до 50-55 а иногда моргает до 44 где то. И еще, блок у меня 500ват. Но требует 550. Не ужели если поменять блок уже будет больше фпс и если поменять проц больше не будет дергаться фпс?
твой процессор очень слаб для этой карты. rtx3060 даже ограничивает i5 10400 и r5 3600. RTX 3060 нужен минимум r5 5500, или выше и аналогичные ему по производительности, иначе будет "ботлнек". Вообще много чего влияет на ФПС. много теста будет.

While it does improve the quality of reflections, the shadows and AO just doesn't seem to work for whatever reason, so no for now. But wait for day 1 patch and then decide.

I can barely remember one game that really tickled that gaming part of my brain, except some really good indie games and recent Hi-Fi Rush game that came out of nowhere and simply amazing on release without tons of patches, MTX or sandbox garbage mechanics. Edit: My bad, there is two. The second one is Midnight Suns, gotta love a good turn-based games. They are almost as rare as unicorns.

RAM is pretty cheap right now and really important for HL. Upgrade to 32gb ram or you will have muddy texture glitches and stuttering.

In my case upgrading from 16gb to 32gb reduced the stuttering of the game. It did run with 16gb but it wasn't perfect.

What is your CPU? Also, you can lower the textures one notch and see if the visual fidelity is a problem.

Ur ram frequency is low
game needs 8-10cores minimum, your cpu is bottlenecking
Also change to dual channel ram at 3200 might help some too. As mentioned a more powerful cpu for this game as well
