Not all of them. Maradona certainly showed no guilt for example and in some quarters it made him even more popular.
Actually one I've just thought of who isn't mentioned here is the Olympic sprinter Ben Johnson. Any athlete who illegally does something to deny an opponent prize for their efforts is by definition a cheat. Some, like Lance Armstrong got away with it. But it must be hard in athletics when herbal remedies like Ginseng tea, can give false positives (as Linford Christie found out).

Football is an unfair sport and unfairness is part of the beauty of football. We could write a 5,000-page book on football refereeing errors or "cheating".
How many thousands of players have pretended to be fouled to get a penalty? How many players have hurt another player on purpose and the referee didn't see it? The rule is "As long as the referee doesn't catch you, you can do it". Video Assistant Referees is almost anti-football.

The players couldn't be punished because they were granted immunity for giving statements so that MLB could determine the extent of the cheating. They couldn't strip the title because there was no evidence that the "cheating" changed the outcomes of any games (they had better batting averages and scoring on the road where they couldn't cheat). MLB also didn't want the widespread information they received about all of the other scandals going on getting out, so they stopped short of that.

I could never get a player to even look at me except once. It was the Rangers vs Cubs. I was a massive cub fan. I was screaming at everyone and couldn’t get any attention. All of a sudden Sosa walked out. I was star struck but knew if I couldn’t get the B team players to look at me he was going to be impossible. So instead I just yelled Sup Sammy! And that was it. The French organizers hated Lance and were constantly trying to get dirt on him. Supposedly the big evidence was an old urine sample from his first winning tour found years after that showed a minute amount of a banned substance. I still wonder if he actually cheated or if his methods were frowned on and blown up by La Presse. The guy survived cancer. He trained hard. It was said his crime was using transfusions of packed red cells to increase his oxygen usage and therefor increase strength and stamina. The thing is professional cycling has always been a tainted sport when it comes to PEDs. Eddy Merkx, one of the greatest cyclists ever, said that in the moderndays of cycling if you wanted to win you took something. He said it was nearly impossibleto ride that far, that fast in that time period without some help. It is not about winning but winning big! Get fame and money. Be adored. As long as the rewards are big then cheating will always be there. As for Lance, at the time I was big into long distance cycling and he was my muse. In many ways I don’t care if he cheated. He was exciting to watch and he controlled the peloton.

With regards to Nelson Piquet Junior and Crashgate, it was him being fired by the Renault team less than a year later that indirectly led to the FIA taking another look. Around the 2009 European Grand Prix in Valencia, Spain, Piquet had spoken to then FIA President Max Mosley. In this conversation, he explained that it had been a deliberate act by the team to cause a Safety Car period, which combined with team mate Fernando Alonso having pitted just two laps before, which would mean that Alonso would emerge in the lead once everyone else pitted. As Ted Kravitz who worked with the BBC at the time said:
"We now know what happened, Nelson Piquet crashed on purpose, to bring out the Safety Car. This wasn't spying on other teams or lying to the stewards, this was endanger spectators, marshalls and his own safety."
With regards to the reference about "spying on other teams," the 2007 Spygate scandal deserves a dishonourable mention in my view. In July 2007, reports began circulating that Ferrari had hired a private investigator to look into how a document of confidential data regarding their car that year got into the hands of a photocopier in Woking, United Kingdom. It emerged that through contact with disgruntled Ferrari employee, their former Chief Mechanic, Nigel Stepney, the McLaren team's chief designer, Mike Coughlin, had come into possession of these papers and his wife had sent the paperwork for photocopying. Long story short, after initially denying that they'd benefitted from the data, McLaren revealed that they had in fact not only were aware of it, but they had benefitted from the data (for example, for Malaysia, they were able to predict when they'd stop for fuel and tyres). McLaren were given a very stiff penalty: the team (who had led both Constructors and Drivers championships at the time) were excluded from the 2007 Constructors Championship, the team (other than their drivers) wouldn't score any further points in the season, but the biggest headline grabber was the huge fine they paid. The team were fined $100,000,000

Dubbed "Spygate," it centred on disgruntled Ferrari employee, Nigel Stepney, sending his friend and McLaren designer, Mike Coughlin, over 700 pages of confidential Ferrari design details. With this, Coughlin took the plans to a photocopying company in Woking, Surrey, UK, to have copies of the data. However, the owner of the photocopying company saw the Ferrari details and tipped off Ferrari.
Long story short, after initially being cleared of wrongdoing by the FIA, a second trial in the FIA Court took place after further evidence came to light about how much McLaren were aware of the confidential Ferrari data (such as email exchanges between the drivers and Mike Coughlin himself), McLaren were excluded from the 2007 Constructors Championship, barred from scoring any more Constructors Championship points for the rest of that year and fined $100 million

You missed two good ones. The first is Albert Belle who used to play for the Cleveland Indians. He was a power hitter whose numbers went up drastically one year and after hitting a ball the umpires were suspicious and took his bat to be checked out and locked it in the umpire's dressing room. While the game was going on one of Albert's teammates climbed through the ceiling tiles and dropped into the umpire's dressing room and replaced Albert's bat with one of their own. This however was found out.
The other one was the woman who won the Boston Marathon. I don't remember her name but it turns out that she took the subway to a stop not far from the finish line after starting the race with everyone else and then ran across to finish in first place. She was awarded as the winner until people started questioning how no one saw her past them for much of the course.

Football players r very good actors. they get a little tap on the legs and go down rolling all over the ground in pain them suddenely get up and start running around again as if nothing happened as they were faking it to try and get the other player sent off.
Before the premier league came along most players were getting paid the same as a normal working mans job paid. leather ball which was heavy. muddy pitches and if it was raining u couldnt even tell what colour the shirt was as they were all covered in mud. Very few fell over when someone looked at them and faked injuries.
Players loyal to their club and didnt move to other clubs for fame and fortune. some stayed with the same team their whole career Even when offerd stupid money to go to another team they said no im staying here.
Then the Agents took over and started selling players like slaves left right and centre just so they could get rich from the comissionn they got.
England were bad simply cause the manager was not allowed to pick the players he wanted he was given a list of teams he could pick players from. U could of been the best player in the world but if u didnt play for 1 of the teams on the list u wouldnt get into the England team. That was so the agents could persuade the players to move to a team on the list and make lots of money from it.

The cheating occurred when the other got up, noticed his buddy lying unmoving next to the ball, and quickly stuffed the ball into his unconscious buddy's glove (all caught on camera) and tried to claim his buddy caught it before they collided. You're right, they should have but I'll try to explain some. Pine tar is sticky, used to give pitchers an advantage by giving them better grip to have more control of their pitches. Same with the nail filer and sandpaper in Cricket as well. Sunsceeen is slippery which when applied to the ball and makes contact with the bat will make it slide off the bat making the hitters hit more ground balls. A cork in the bat gives the bat more power meaning hitting the ball further than a normal uncorked bat.

Missed Mike Tyson who deliberately punched opponents in the kidney/liver which is illegal in boxing, but referees let it stand

    I believe Jimmy was truthful.
I'm also involved with youtube and our philosophy is that while we will do certain things to cater to as broad an audience as possible, there is a line where we have to say “this is the type of content we make, this is the tone we like, this is the feel we like, and if people don't like it we don't care but if they do like it, great”.
we focus on that and growing an audience who enjoys what we do rather than chasing people who don't like it.
So I think when he says he doesn't care if people watch, he means he doesn't care if people like the caller watch, or other people who call in to directly criticise the programming.

5:01 May as well just penalize the entire world soccer league, lol.
You can tell how bad a player was or wasn't injured simply by reversing their reaction to the injury.
I.E. Silently falls down, they're hurt pretty bad.
Rolls around on the floor crying like a baby and screaming bloody murder, they're fine.

Fun Fact : Will Smith ended up playing for the Atlanta Braves 5 years later in 2020..and even played a big factor in the World Series for us the following season..Now we just sent him to the Astros this season..the team we beat In the World Series..So yes, Will Smith cheated against us, then he went to the team he cheated against, then beat the cheating Astros in the World Series, then got sent to the Cheating Astros😂😂..It’s funny how things come full circle.

"And I now understand the consequences..." which in many cases isn't much. The boxer was permanently banned, because he did real damage, the racer was banned for 2 years which is better, baseball players banned for 10 games? Not a huge deal. Disqualified from the match? I mean some cheating should be year long bans to really emphasize that you shouldn't be doing it.

How was one of the worst cheating scandals in US HISTORY, ONLY 16th? That scandal helped the Astros win a World Series and helped them to multiple years of postseason success. It’s significantly more noteworthy than these single game accounts.

Resto was the worst, Billy Collins never fought again after that fight because of detached retinas and his life spiraled down into alcoholism. He died months later in a car accident.

Rivaldo started 20yrs of football players covering their face during fouls to get opponents either booked or sent off. For a player who was brilliant he will forever be remembered for doing this and causing 99% of footballers copying him

Scrolling TH-cam I stumbled upon this post on cheating athletes. First off I am not a sports fan, a writer or anybody special, except hopefully to my family. It baffles my mind how we, the people continue too support these cheaters, lying, thieving criminals. These so called professionals who not only rob us of our hard earned dollars but also strip us of our very own scruples at times. I could probably rant on. I have to feed my dog. Much more rewarding than giving any more thought on the matter. Thank you
