Started using this tactic about a week ago, glad to see someone made a video about it! In my experience, using different methods to change up how you catch the dittos helped me not get as burnt out after catching so many of them.
Nice method! Because of your video I found another method which uses mudkip or it's evolutions. It works as follows: turn 1 you use yawn (egg move) with mudkip and ditto transforms into mudkip, turn 2 you use endeavor while having 1 HP and ditto falls asleep because of yawn, then you catch it with net ball like in your video. Endure is a useful move that can help you set up 1 HP before you go to the ditto area, and also you can hold a chesto berry in case you get unlucky and ditto puts you to sleep with yawn. Mudkip doesn't have to be lvl 100 for this, it just needs to be fast enough to run from whismur/loudred. The problem with this method is that you have to set up 1 HP beforehand and that endeavor has at max 8 pp, so healing at the PC is very inefficient and leppa berry cost is a bit higher than usual because of the 8 pp. I haven't optimized it yet but it works fine so far :)
Thx. If anyone wants to use this, the setup for 1hp is easier than I initially thought, you can bring 5 mudkips and 1 lvl 100 pokemon like breloom that knows only false swipe. Let a wild ditto transform into it and switch in all mudkips to be false swiped into 1hp. For the mudkips it's good to have low ivs for hp & def and high iv for speed with hasty nature. If the mudkips are too high lvl and don't get one-shoted to 1hp from false swipe you can bring a lvl 1 aron instead, with ability study and it should know only endeavor (it can also hold an item like training link to prevent it from gaining xp), you let the wild ditto transform into aron and then switch in 1 of the mudkips that hold air balloon and knows a ground type move. You attack the ditto and it survives with 1hp from sturdy then you switch in each mudkip to be hit by endeavor and be left with 1hp. It's not the most optimal method but I think it's a good idea to switch methods from time to time to not get burnout also mudkip is too cute! ^-^
great video, theres more information I would have liked to know such as the costs of the net balls per hour or per box and the average time taken to collect a box or how many dittos caught in one hour etc. But the video format and clarity is fantastic!! Thanks man
You don't need to actually get the Forretress to level 100. To achieve a "OHKO" to Sturdy on a transformed Ditto, you only need to grind it to level 78. Here's the calc: Lvl 78 252+ SpA Forretress Volt Switch vs. Lvl 45 4 HP / 0- SpD Forretress: 140-165 (102.9 - 121.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO

I open with Scyther(Silk Scarf) and false swipe till 1 hp, switch to spore poke (paras) who will not die cos ditto only knows false swipe and I sleep and net ball. Thanks for your video it inspired me to come up with my method and sold my first ditto box!
what i do is either a breloom with substitute so the ditto cant transform, or i use a payday pokemon to make money off the other stuff, swap to a magikarp if its ditto and it copies the karp, swap to catch mon. i always use dream balls after being asleep for one turn cause its 100% catch rate
My strats is using low lvl Natu with Synchronize modest (U-turn), pineco sturdy lv1 (rest), Meowth (payday+thunder wave). First use u-turn on ditto then switch to pineco, ditto then transform to pineco. Then switch to meowth, ditto then use rest and hit ditto using payday. Use thunder wave on 2nd turn and catch with dream ball (100℅ catch rate). Held item for natu and pineco should be Training link to prevent them gain exp. You should try this to maximize ditto farming earning
@@YoungCabbage I'll try that. I was going to max out attack/defense but I wasn't sure if I was missing something. Global Chat also said I should max out speed.
@@YoungCabbage yeah, my Forretress is only at level 75 but it's working pretty consistently for the most part. The biggest struggle is trying to run away from Raticate's. I got insanely lucky though and caught a 3x31 ditto after only like 15 ditto encounters. So pretty stoked about this strategy.
With fortress Johto is better , with Vaporeon ( lower catch rate but higher profit ) , Hoenn is better . Generally you want to start in Johto with both because you have a chance to get the monthly legendary while doing it , then you have move onto Hoenn if you want
Easier method: Grab that same catching breloom and teach it these moves: Substitute Spore False swipe [Fill in a move here, i use drain punch for extra heal plus alpha fights] Turn 1: use substitute, ditto wont be able to transform into the substitute (also toxic orb kicks in) Turn 2: false swipe Turn 3: spore Turn 4: catch

Why speed EVs. It uses lagging tail so it's useless. And at lvl 100 you can run away from basically all wild Pokémon anyway except the ones with abilities. So why bother

Great methods, only optimisations are lv78minimum or 100 to avoid exp message.
And 1 pp up to volt switch so it matches Spore max pp

New to the MMO here, how do you sell an entire box of dittos? Is it a one shot thing or do you just list all 60?
you will find someone in trade chat who wants a ditto box, whisper them to figure out price, and the trade them 5 at a time. You can also mail them.

Why do you want to max out the speed EV's? Wouldn't that make you possibly out speed the wild ditto?
With lagging tail you should always move second. i guess you could max out def if you want to rather than speed. Just to keep Evs away from Sp def

is this place better than hoenn? I wish I started building this team instead of mine. I feel like the return on duskballs isn't as good..
I believe its better however many people will argue hoenn is still better. I would test them out yourself and make a decision based on your results!

They can be interchangeable
Mainly just to keep the Evs away from sp def

I had the same issue. Make sure your foretress has the ability sturdy. The ability overcoat will prevent spore
