The NV5 is such a nice case. I personally think the triangular openings by the feet make it much easier to carry. The point about the cable routing i agree with when routing the 24pin to the mobo is a bit more work than it should have been. Once that was done, it was a breeze. Lots of room to cable manage everything.
A tip I found while trying to route that 24-pin cable in the NV5 (at least for anyone with a modular PSU) is to route the end that plugs into the PSU through the grommets, not the wider and bulkier 24-pin end. Normally I’d have the PSU ends already plugged in, but it was FAR easier to make an exception with this particular cable.
I have bought the nv5, I have had it for 2 days now. This case is amazing, but I did have a couple of problems. Had a hard time with cable managment, you cant really pile up cables in the bottom psu chamber because its so small. Attaching side panels to the case is very complicated and has very small tolerances. I also had a hard time routing cables for my gpu.
I built my NV5 today. Your complaint about the cable channels is valid, but largely irrelevant if you route the cables through to the back from the front. I actually routed all my cables from front to back, managed them, and THEN connected them to the PSU and installed the PSU. So, so much easier.
After having mine for a few days I really like it. I agree with the trying to fit the 24pin through that small space. One feature I think that get overlooked is the small rear grommet. I used it to run an RGB strip on the back of the case for some additional lighting. Super easy to build in.
@@BigDavostbf north was the case of the year in 2022. But i would still not award this a best case of the yeae since it's a rebranded y40. There are lots of cases that look just like this so not deserving of such price.
My son is using the Phanteks P600 case which I loved building in. Bought him the NV5 for a new custom loop. Waiting for the 14900k to up grade him from 9900k. Got the Asrock Aqua OC z690 mobo and 4090 waiting in the case until mid October….I’ve preordered the RGB with overclockers here in the uk and will get him the screen when it’s released.
the biggest problem i have with the nv5 vs the nv7 is that they removed almost every single feature of the nv7 that makes it stand out and make me want it - namely the unique rear i/o panel cable routing & cover, and the ability to angle the bottom intake fans (not to mention even *having* 3 bottom intake fan slots). Granted, the NV7 is too big for me as well. I realllllly hoped the NV5 would be basically just a shorter version of the NV7, but instead it's just a completely different case. Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll give us an NV6
This exactly describes how I felt and what I was hoping for, as well as the reason I'll be waiting and buying the O11 Vision or Evo RGB instead. A swing and a miss, but still a decent case.
Angled intake fans? I didn't catch that in the features for that case. I'm eyeballing the NV5 right now due to it's smaller size. The only thing that seems to irk me about it is the slanted PSU. I'm so used to traditional... uh, very OLD cases. I want my PSU sitting flat. But I realized today that the angled design on the bottom would make it easy to pick up and tote to the work bench... Or endtable in my case lol. Gonna have to get some padding for my work area. And be sure to wear a soft shirt while handling it. I'm going aesthetics over function. But it does look like it has good airflow too. The Phantek fans matching the leds on the PSU cover take the cake. Just not looking forward to putting a car note down on them 😓
6:38 - "...really good for confidence when mounting things from the top..." When a reviewer and a case love each other very much... 😁 (* I'm sorry Dimitri, that made me chuckle.)
It looks really nice, i really wanna do a build in it. Just finished a custom loop in my O11D Evo, though. As for pricing when comparing the NV5 and O11D Evo, it really depends on local pricing. Here in Scandinavia, i had to pay just over €200 for the Evo but the NV5 is only €110, so the NV5 is a pretty good budget-friendly alternative. I like that it got the front and side glass panels like the Evo for putting your build on display but still differentiates itself with the traditional PSU shroud. There's too many cases looking like the O11D already, some variety is appreciated.
Just disregarding the price, I feel like "DLC" for cases, or any computer component (not in the Intel "Unlock the thing that's already inside the CPU" way) should be encouraged. Like, the lightbars and screen are fairly cool, but they could also offer less complex additions, like solid colour panels and bars, or single colour light fixtures, or coloured screws and gaskets, or a hippie bead curtain, or what have you. Tinted glass, solid panels, stickers, etc., etc.; as someone who spent months saving for computer parts one at a time, I would gladly pay a little more to make my computer even more *mine*. Glad they're offering anything, and that those any-things are seemingly versatile. As much as I like my Fractal Torrent, I can't even slap a hard drive cage on it, so there's room for improvement to bring the baseline up a bit.
It looks nice but it is still waaay bigger than it needs to be. If they had kept roughly the same proportions but replace every 3x120mm fans by 2x140s it'd be a little more compact yet perfectly fine case. Looking forward to the NV3 :D Not really convinced by the $100 LED strip kit and the $100 LCD screen kit in addition to $200 worth of fans that you more or less need to 'fill it up'. Including the case that's a $400-500 purchase without any actual hardware. Rather seen they'd gone for an RGB version with this included for like $50 more and a non-RGB version like Phanteks has done before on different cases.
In many ways it's tailored to Phanteks own fans (and their limitations). Right now none of Phanteks' high end fans (the D30 and T30) are available in 140mm size.... yet. That and this case's limitations say a lot.
I want a new version of the Evolv X. With a slightly better exhaust in the top (just enlarge the mesh area) and a 360 radiator support on the side of the case.
I like the amount of glass as that maximizes the view of the custom paint I will apply! I wonder if a 240 AIO (for the CPU?) on the side blowing out, with a fan underneath it blowing in, and either a 360 AIO in the top for the GPU or just outlet fans in the top would result in cooler temperatures.
Phanteks always impresses me time and time again. I’m still using there p360a case and hoping to use another one of there cases when it’s time to upgrade 😊
Thank You For the Video for Phanteks NV5, it really good pc case and now i'm interested to get one later. yeah let hope it exist in my country with that price
This does seem like a pretty nice case, but in terms of airflow I’d argue that the h9 flow is superior due to the fact that this case can only hold 4 intake fans while the h9 can hold 6 which causes positive air pressure, and for the extra money you spend you do get 3 included fans unlike the nv5 that doesn’t include any at all.
At first I liked the design but the more I see it the more I dislike the PSU shroud, I wish they'd gone for a vertical configuration behind the MB tray like Lian Li does for their O11 cases.
Another excellent case review as always, Dimitri! I'm not too fond of cases with double TG panels (front and side) but it looks very tempting. Any chance you guys review the ASUS A21 Case?
What a nice case. A great mix between the fish tank and a more traditional mid tower. Exactly what I'm looking for. Since I'm using a 280AIO though I'll have to keep looking.
I didn't like it when it was first revealed, but now I want to replace my 011 XL with it. my case is a little too big and heavy and feels empty even with a gpu the size of my arm in it.
I keep coming back to this video as I'm waiting for my NV5 to ship, but I really think this is going to appeal to many buyers! The Hyte Y40 was a big hit with consumers because of it's looks and price point and I think the NV5 has the possibility to outpace it. Weirdly enough, I do think the DLC items will be a big hit with customers as well, since there's the prospect of buying a $99 case now, maybe throwing in some cheap fans for the time being, and then slowly upgrading as you go or get more disposable income. But thank you for the video, this video is ultimately what sold me on the case in the first place, and is all I have until it ships!
Although I am a big fan of the two chamber layout, if they did put the power supply behind the motherboard tray on this case, wouldn't they be criticized for putting on the market yet another copy of the Lian Li O11?
You're overthinking the value-- The O11 Dynamic Evo doesn't come with fans either. You want a mesh front panel? That's $20. You want the upright GPU? That's > $90. Vertical GPU mount? It's not cheap, considering it's $10 worth of metal and a ribbon cable. At least the NV5 vertical GPU bracket is a nice bit of kit with some (D)RGB on it. Most cases, if it's a "pretty" case, the first thing you do is rip out the vendor fans and put in your own. No point in paying for something you won't use.
8:15 Did you forget to put the M.2 cover/heatsink back on? Lol. Beautiful build, otherwise! This case is amazing, but I would love to see 140mm fan support in a V2 or revision of it in the future.
I would like to see a case with fewer RGB fans to see how it would look aesthetically. It feels like the case is designed to make you buy 8 fans, but in reality, there are 9 D30 fans. 85 euros for a set of 3 equals 255 euros just for the fans. What if there is a 240 AIO cooler on top, and instead of 3 fans on the right side, there are only 2? How necessary is the bottom fan in this configuration?
looks like the slim version of the NZXT H9. I didn't realize how big that case was until I got it in person but I still liked it. just some manufacturing inconsistency w/ the thumb screws being so hard to put on in some areas.
Like the case but not a fan of the Front IO as since it is small enough for desk to use the front ports you would have to stand up each time you want to plug something in. Like the Lian Li lancool 216 you have the option to wet on floor with top mount or desktop and switch it to front bottom mount.
Definitely interested in this one hey, looks amazing, my 011 Mini has aged on me. On the screen don't Hyte make a screen for the Y60? Not necessarily third party
Price aside, I like the aesthetics of the NV5 more than the NV7, which I did not expect. Plus there's so much room around radiators that they look out of place versus integrated like other cases. Wondering if the NV9 might change my opinion.
Did I see that on the white case the internal cables are black? For a case that sells itself on looks that's a minus point. And how about the guides and velcro straps?
Yes i wanted to buy it, €258,- with the D30 fans and the Phanteks aio isn't good enough, so I have to buy another 3 fans for the radiator for a total of €348 for only the case and fans. Think i'm gonna stick by the Sky Two and wait for the King 95
I built my new PC this week. And was determined to go mATX for a smaller footprint. But if this case was available in my country it would have been mine. It looks excellent and offer so much nice little feature at a good price. I stayed on the Asus AP201 instead, as planned. It's an excellent case and mATX is plenty enough space for any gaming PC if honest. I would love to see Phanteks design a NV3 mATX or ITX case.
i went with a meshify 2, if i was do another it would be the same (gloriously huge) size OR id go small form factor. if im going to have the hassle of smaller, ima go as small as i can make things be

Some of the upsides to living in East Asia as we have so many cheap copies of cases. For the case in this video, we have Keytech Robin Lite For the Hyte Y60 we have the Coolmoon Reyna and Coolmoon Ming Pro All of these not more than $30
I'm having trouble finding a dual chamber case which will properly fit a reservoir and pump. There are options ofc, right now I'm looking at this and the antec c5. Both would work, but I feel it will impact the airflow. Any other suggestions?
I just ordered my NV5 but wondering thoughts on aircooling in this case? Currently running an Assassin IV, but wondering if I need to switch to AIO now with this case.
The only reason I won't buy this is because it's not a dual chamber. I was really bummed when they announced it since the NV7 is too big for me. I'm waiting on the new Lian Li O-11 Dynamic EVO RGB. Hopefully it drops soon because my OG O-11 Dynamic is a little cramped.
I wanted to buy this case but it's €258,- with the D30 fans and the Phanteks aio isn't good enough, so I have to buy another aio and an other 3 fans to swap for the radiator, for a total of €348 for only the case and fans i think it isn't worth it. Think i'm gonna stick by the Sky Two and wait for the King 95.
Looks like a lovely case but I'm at the point where I'm trying to downsize from ATX cases. Now if Phanteks were to come out with something like a NV3 mATX case i'd be all over it.
The NV5 is such a nice case. I personally think the triangular openings by the feet make it much easier to carry. I did that with the 24-pin cable. The others I didn’t have any issues with.

I may pick this up instead of the CTE 700 air for my watercooling build. I have two 360mm rads and this may work.
If you could angle that bottom intake fan at 45 degrees to blow directly under gpu would be much better
It’s high enough to still be an effective intake for that GPU. Being angled would kill the visuals.

Nice aquarium-like case. But I still prefer the G500A.
I bought this case. Sure it is cheap, but getting phanteks liquid cooling and some extra fans was $300 extra. :)
Would love to see your recommendation on the best case with all 140mm fans....

Like the case but not a fan of the Front IO as since it is small enough for desk to use the front ports you would have to stand up each time you want to plug something in. Like the Lian Li lancool 216 you have the option to wet on floor with top mount or desktop and switch it to front bottom mount.

I just wish this case was compatible for the BTF tech like the nv7
A love how much you look like Chris Pratt
Only thing I hate about airflow tests. Please use all the fan spots for the test, 2 exhaust and only 1 side intake. Do a pure airflow build all fans.
I really hope they make a nv3 and an nv1 for itx, that would be so cool
Price aside, I like the aesthetics of the NV5 more than the NV7, which I did not expect. The Phanteks NV5 vs NZXT H6 Flow. Which is better?
I simply want an NV5 that can take 140s. It would only need to be 1-1.5" wider and deeper. That would be PERFECT
That picture you keep showing are those greyish fans Phanteks T30's
Did I see that on the white case the internal cables are black? For a case that sells itself on looks that's a minus point. And how about the guides and velcro straps?
When is it available on Amazon and Newegg?
We need more headers put on the bottom. I am tired of having to plug my headphones up top and it stresses the cable
Still waiting for Montech’s King 95.
Adding 5 Phanteks D30 fans to the case, leaving space for a 360 AIO, the way it was meant to be fitted out, becomes very expensive.
Yes i wanted to buy it, €258,- with the D30 fans and the Phanteks aio isn't good enough, so I have to buy another 3 fans for the radiator for a total of €348 for only the case and fans.
Think i'm gonna stick by the Sky Two and wait for the King 95

For the Hyte Y60 we have the Coolmoon Reyna and Coolmoon Ming Pro
All of these not more than $30
I'm having trouble finding a dual chamber case which will properly fit a reservoir and pump. There are options ofc, right now I'm looking at this and the antec c5. Both would work, but I feel it will impact the airflow. Any other suggestions?
I wouldn't mind designing my own case
I just ordered my NV5 but wondering thoughts on aircooling in this case? Currently running an Assassin IV, but wondering if I need to switch to AIO now with this case.
It's not an air-cooling case
it's not designed for air cooling. look at the Phanteks G360A for that.
What’s the air direction of the fans you have set up?
Im between the NV5 and that fractal north for my "aesthetic" upgrade frfr
For the price I think it's a steal
As much as I like this case, personally, I’d rather get the Meshify 2, madly underrated case.
Can't wait for this to never be sold at this price point now
Gundam motherboard in the white one. Nice. (i got one too)
wait where do the hard drives fit? I still have mechanical hard drives i cant get rid of.
This or the Lancool III with a 4090?
They dropped the ball on this one by not hiding the psu! Should of been a shorter version of the nv7?
I wanted to buy this case but it's €258,- with the D30 fans and the Phanteks aio isn't good enough, so I have to buy another aio and an other 3 fans to swap for the radiator, for a total of €348 for only the case and fans i think it isn't worth it.
Think i'm gonna stick by the Sky Two and wait for the King 95.
Looks like a lovely case but I'm at the point where I'm trying to downsize from ATX cases. Now if Phanteks were to come out with something like a NV3 mATX case i'd be all over it.
Offtopic, but I'd love to end up seeing a review of some of the best open ear ear buds. Anyone else?
Is 3.5" drive compartment dead?
Any idea when this is going to be available in Canada?
Mid October or November
