I got this camera from my grandma a few days ago, everything works except the shutter button... does anyone have an idea how to fix this? Can I do it myself or should I rather bring it into a shop to get it fixed?
For that camera, I would recommend emailing some shops that specialize in Canon cameras. These cameras are very old and many of the components are not made anymore so they may have to work some magic to get it repaired
Great video! Just picked one of these up and switched in some new batteries and I was testing before I loaded any film and every time I compose a shot the little dial in the viewfinder always leaves from infinity ( mountain image). Even if it's aimed at something a lot closer. Any ideas or will I have to just risk putting a film threw it?
I agree to killing the banjo. I don't mind music in the background but i just found your channel and after watching 4 videos in a row, it's starting to get annoying lol
Selin Durgud it should wind and unwind automatically but if it isn’t unwinding after shooting through the roll of film, there should be an override button on the bottom of the camera
Hi, I've got one of these right now. One problem I keep having is that my one keeps rewinding prematurely.. not necessarily in the middle of the roll but at one point it rewound after 5 shots. its really a shame bc i love everything else about this camera. ):
Oh wow that is quite strange :/ Well if it kicks the bucket you can attempt to repair it or send it off to have the lens adapted to another mount. That's what I plan on doing if my motor ever goes out as I love the lens on this camera so much
Great idea, maybe ill take that into consideration. Just a thought but do you think it might be the camera's incompatibility with some of the films? I've been racking my brain over this, at some point I put in a dummy roll and it didn't have the winding issue. Seems to only do it when I've got actual rolls. :')

you are correct about the warmness of canon lenses. Not just point and shoots but also their FD mount lenses on the AE1, A1 etc...
Please kill the background banjo or whatever that is...

I agree with the AF system being older. It's much slower than my Stylus Epic but the image quality from the Canon is definitely still good.

Thank you! The view through the finder is something I feel like a lot of channels miss so I try to include it every time :)

Maybe you had a fast ISO film loaded and at faster shutter speeds the camera can't keep up. Maybe it needs some adjustments or lubrication?
That could be so. I'm not sure what i had loaded when those issues happened but i believe it was Superia 400

Such an interesting camera, I just won an auction on one without having any clue what it was lol.
It's definitely got it's quirks but if you take your time, it will really start to shine

Selin Durgud you may have to resort to taking the film out of the camera in a changing bag
Is there a way to check if an old Canon MC is still working?
The best way is to run a cheap roll of film through it! Fresh batteries help as well.

No problem! Yeah if it's in good shape then you got it for a bargain. Make sure the flash can separate easily and check how the motor sounds.

Did you try if it happened more with 24 exp vs 36 exp? Or maybe just use really cheap film with it so you don't have to worry :P
