Our best engineers should be scientists, researchers and professors (SRPs) rather than IT engineers working abroad. IT packages are high but SRPs are also decently paid. But the trend nowadays with students is they are more interested in money & lifestyle rather than science. Nobody is interested in taking a longer road of doing masters and PhD.
Cuz most of the people in engineering come from middle class background and they aspire to be rich and successful rather than have a scientific temperament... that's the reason why everybody wants CS
@@vipul_IITian Yes you are right, I don't blame the middle and lower middle class because their aspirations and reasons for taking science are purely financial. Their goals will always be materialistic and risk averse. But the upper and upper middle class also behave the same. Their goals should go beyond money, lifestyle and being callous. They should think about nation building, a better society, help the needy and end corruption. The youth should do something like Kejriwal. The criterion for selecting Computer Engineering in the IITs should be a rank below 500. The top 500 rankers should not be allowed to take CS. This will ensure that the best in our country contribute in non CS sectors and do not run after money and leave India. To be a scientist or researcher or scholar you need a methodical approach and perseverance.
