- Toronto's Summer McIntosh broke the Canadian record in the 200 metre medley Thursday setting the new time of 2.06:89 at the Canadian Swimming Trials.

It's like comparing apples to apples --- Summer McIntosh, and some are not.
How come I don't see Maggie McNeil and Summer McIntosh competing against each other?
They swim different events. MacNeil is a sprinter, McIntosh is a mid distance swimmer.
Keeping in mind that competing in all events is a path to burnout, athletes tend to focus on events where they excel. Maggie, shorter distances and butterfly. Summer, longer distances, IM and freestyle. Would love to see 200 butterfly race between these two though.
