I didn't get why she had to join the Stanford swim team to be honest. Of course go and get a great education, but swimming for them was not going to help her at all and her student life and commitments clearly affected her training. When she isn't being overtaxed this is what she can do.

What do you suppose she should've done? Do you think it would've been better if she went to Stanford for her education, but not joined the swimming team so she could focus on her actual training and student life. Or do you think she should've focused 100% on the training and not gone to Stanford at all?

      The team didn't help her.

iha asc In what way did they not help her? Let me ask you a yes or no question: Do you think she would’ve performed better if she wasn’t on the team?

When she is in her zone, there is no one better. Why not be part of her college team, it obviously meant a lot to her to be one of the gang even if on another level. She gave up sponsorship money to do so. Even if it hurt her performance in Tokyo i can’t imagine she regrets. It. It is equally amazing to me that with all that she does, she finished her degree at Stanford in 4 years. As a college prof, I can tell you this is very hard to do even if you’re not training. Smart organized and a fantastic athlete She has my total admiration
