- This is a video I shot of a common occurrence in Hong Kong; people selling custom suits. I left the camera rolling just for fun but later realized what a soothing voice the tailor had. There is something about the Indian accent that really has a calming affect. He might have been from Sri Lanka, I'm not sure. What does matter is the effect of the video. This video has put me to sleep so many times or has really sent me into relaxation and I hope it works for you too.

I’m glad so many people have enjoyed this video. I know, I come across sounding like a moron as when I recorded this I had no idea it would become what it has become. I just uploaded a random event in my life that I recorded as a joke as a friend and I had watched Tom green’s subway monkey hour and we were going to make stupid videos but we never got round to it. We were very annoyed at how we would get hassled on Nathan Road by people wanting us to buy suits so I decided I would finally take one up on the offer to see what it was about. I just got fed up of saying no to all of them. And then I decided to record my encounter of the Hong Kong suit trade. Little did I know when I met this man that he would have one of the most soothing voices on earth. #unintentionalasmr
But the most important question is: have you bought a suit and came back ‘tomorrow’? 🤣

You should have got his name phone number and information. This guy would be a legend in the asmr community. Don't you even remember the name of the shop, or the phone number? There is got to be a way to find this guy
Asmr is so much better when you can hear that sound of recording in the background from the phone. Much better than all the polished asmr videos these days.

Whenever I have to speak to Indian call centre , if the guys voice is like this I fall asleep on the phone. Sometimes I just ask silly questions to keep the call going.

No-one here said they called up an Indian call centre just for this reason.
Perhaps we can all club together and group-fund this guy to make eight hour long videos where he just stands around and reads from magazines and fabric-sample books talking about how nice they are. I think that would actually cure my insomnia.
+Michael Williams I’m not sure what country he was from but some people have naturally soothing voices. It’s effortless to them. So rare though- there are enough loud morons out there, why can’t there be a balance. I’d definitely find your idea

Yeah, the unintentional ones seem to have a unique calming effect, which is drastically different to deliberately induced ASMR. Love it dude, try and get some more!

Me too. He was a really pleasant man to talk to. I'd have to say its one of the most powerful asmr voices I've heard. So relaxing.

Still here 2 years later... watching this video to fall asleep. Not all the time but I definitely get this video into my asmr video rotation once or twice month still
I am just so happy people are able to get something out of a happy accident. It was never meant to be ASMR. I recorded this in Nov 08 but upon viewing it I felt so relaxed. It wasn't until ASMR became a thing that I decided to upload it. I just wish there were more instances in my life like this.
TheRubberStudiosASMR you be surprised how many times I've watched this video and yes it has helped me fall asleep by like 3 or 2 times of watching it but I still have a hard time towards the end I don't know what he's saying something about a taco shop feel confusing lol

So many people involved in the fashion industry (tailors, shoe salesmen, etc) ive noticed do have these lovely sort of gentle, naturally soothing voices.

Duuuuuuuude, I've never known anyone else in my entire life to feel the same way about Indian guys' voices. I gave a speech about this in college and everybody laughed and probably thought I was a maniac. It was intended to be funny, but it was totally true. I've watched so many videos like this and had nooo idea whatsoever that anyone anywhere did the same.
Don't worry man I've been doing that since 2005 when I found some guy named MobieGFX who made video and graphic tutorials

Thank you. Yeah he was a rare seller because everyone else would chase you through the streets like rabid dogs. Calm and cool, that's what sells. I wish I could do more of these ones too but unfortunately I don't have the money to travel to Asia every month. I would be in heaven if I could though.

This is EXACTLY what i was looking for. My mate and i were in Thailand a few years ago, we were on a night out in Pattaya and he wanted to get a suit sized up and ordered and it was exactly like this. Prior to going out we were pumped for a big night yet as soon as we got into the shop and they were speaking like this, gently touching the fabric etc, my eyes just kept getting heavier lol. Still went out afterwards though :)

I am so glad that this video has gotten out to so many. It was never intended to be an asmr video. I just kept my camera on as a joke as we were making a film about the craziness of hong kong. Yeah, a friend and I went on a trip to Hong Kong and Japan. Japan was far more crazier but they see it as normal.

I had a similar thing with a lady who used to teach me how to read back in primary school. She would read and then go "Now could you read this passage?" and I would be in another world. I really believe that ASMR can send people into another state much like the effects of drugs but without the harmful side effects.
my first ASMR was in like grade 3. My teacher had a certain cadence and tone that as soon as she started reading i would almost pass out. I'd just lie with my head of the desk in a sleepy bliss. Same thing would happen if in sickbay in the office, just the soft hum office equipment, of typing and people talking softly on the phone. I couldn't explain it to anyone. I had no idea what it was until many many years later when ASMR blew up on TH-cam. However 99% of these TH-cam 'ASMR' vids don't have any effect on me. This guys voice though is 100% gold.
Stealthor I think you’re right. ASMR works best when the person delivering it isn’t trying to do “ASMR”
this stuff is addicting.. ok somebody should reach this guy and tell him about this post and asmr, he should make some living out of it and we can get more tingled
I worked with an Indian guy at a computer repair shop who had a voice exactly like this, it was almost hypnotic. I would regularly ask him for help on things I mostly knew the answer to, just to listen and relax.

I think Indians have pleasant accents due to the positioning of their tongues when they speak. There’s almost a constant, subtle “rolling” sound.
And the natural politeness of most Indians is also a plus.

RdClZn Hi, all I can remember is that it is on Nathan Road in Kowloon. If you are on the street facing HK island it is on the left side of the street and down near the main shopping district before you hit the boardwalk. I'm sure you would have no problem walking down Nathan Road looking for a tailor and being a western tourist. They are like flies to shit down there.

Quite possibly. I remember it was on Nathan road near a large shopping mall. It's difficult to distinguish who's who when there are tailors every 2 footsteps.
It was tough. This has happened to me many times where people have been talking to me and I just want to crawl up into a ball on the floor.
