this is by far the best pedal in my board. you can go out and spend your 250 on a digitech but you won't get chorus, loop, reverb, echo AND true-bypass. Electroharmoix is by far the best effects pedal company of all time period. If you like this pedal check out the Russian Big Muff.
They don't mention that you can even cascade the delays in this pedal with a patch cable for even more cool stuff, i.e. mono/L out to R input, and use the R output.
it really is the best pedal i've owned. It's one that seems just like a cool delay with multiple settings when you first buy it, and only gets better. much much better
Y'all gots the BEST demos on the web. All the right gear, properly displayed and demoed. I wish I'd seen this vid before I sold my MMw/Hazarai!! Now,I have a clearer understanding of how it works... worked. Ack!
I've owned this pedal for a while and I really hate admitting it, but this thing definitely shat all over my tone and volume as soon as I hit the bypass switch. The presets are great and so is everything else, and sometimes it's not as bad if you play around with the blend knob. On another note... The HOG is a thing of awesomeness.
the regular memory man does not have the 30 sec. loop feature or on the 1sec delay + reverse. I've found a way to use that setting simply as a boost + reverse swith that will feed you a 6 sec reverse slap back of what you just played while you're holding down the tap-tempo toggle. This pedal is a huge aid in the live setting. you can create all those sweet studio tricks live on stage if you're smart about it. Memory Man w/ Hazarai ALL THE WAY.
@kevin2815 well is really a matter of what you are using it for. The Memory Man has a very warm tone that sits in the back of the mix nicely and is analog. Where as the Hazarai has a bit dryer sound that is more abrupt and is digital but has way more options. Personally i would sacrifice the options for the quality of tone.
thank you for the excellent demonstration...i'm sold. because you did such a wonderful job with this video, i am going to buy mine from you guys. rock on!
@sususegar idk about other videos, but dry vs wet is the amount of effected signal that plays in relation to clean signal. most delay pedals have some sort of mix or level knob that brings in more or less of the delayed signal.
Depends on what you want. For warm, musical analog delays the Deluxe memory Man is hard to beat. If you want a looper, reverse delay and tap-tempo you gotta go for the Hazarai (between the two). I already have an analog delay and I want a looper so it's the Hazarai for me. Does that make sense?
no, thats why i returned it. for this i would suggest the mxr carbon copy. straight forward analog delay with modulation like the delux memory man but the size of the phase 90. i love mine
@ acolytes777, this pedal for certain! I own one. It's amazing! It's the most versatile, unique delay I've ever heard, especially for the price! Also, the EHX Stereo Memory Man w/ Hazrai doesn't sound digital. One thing the demo didn't cover was the STEREO effect. If you run the second output to another amplifier or mixing board, the delay ping-pongs. It's freaking sick!
both, DL4 on stage becasue it has 4 presets, but deluxe memory man becasue its the best sounding delay imo, but it depends on how much room you have on ya pedal board.
i love this pedal. that being said, the only issue i have with mine, is that sometimes with my amp cranked and my gain up, the modulation is so strong its really hard on my speaker. i have a bad feeling its going to blow my amp one night. any thoughts PGS?
If you can afford it, the Timeline is pretty immense and has a lot more possibilities. That being said, it is really expensive and there is a strong sense of option paralysis that comes with it. It'd be much easier to tweak one of these than a Timeline. That being said, there's a lot of stuff on the Timeline that you can just ignore, but it really is geared more towards that kind of player. It is a pretty huge investment though, I own one, and I probably wouldn't need to buy another delay ever.
hey, im trying to decide between this and the tc electronic nova delay. my main influences are bands such as pink floyd and radiohead, and i prefer a warmer , slightly modulated sound and would probably be using the pedal for ambient effects such as reverse delay and volume swells. which would you recommend?
Which is better, the Line 6 DL4 Delay or the Memory Man with Hazari? I'm stuck between the 2. I really like the Memory Man but the DL4 has more features? I like to play more ambient sounding like stuff life As Cities Burns and Circa Survive. I feel like the Memory Man would be the best route but maybe the DL4 could do some more things.
hey guys i got some questions about this stuff....first of is this a true analogue delay???second can u put some sort of chorus/flanger sounds on it??? and last can u use this pedal as pre-amp signal????? thanx for any further response!!!
can anyone explain in simple yet encompassing manner, what's the difference between dry and wet signal, and what happens when they are mixed? maybe include some examples that can be found on youtube too.
The lighting doesn't allow us to see the knob labels. Because I can't see what the guitarist is doing, I don't know what is being played by the box vs the guitarist.
@TheFuzzB Dude I've had a DL4 for years, I love it. I recommend getting the dl4 first, then this cause it's much more comprehensive. But once you've got the DL4 down, get this! I'm buying this pedal as soon as I can, I'm sure Colin from Circa would tell you the same! this one will definitely be more experimentally fun.
no it does not have true bypass it's got a good quality buffer, which is better than true bypass if you've got a big board, since having a lot of true bypass pedals on your chain can really kill your tone.
@TheFuzzB i love my dl4 but it gets finicky sometimes. like random glitches especially when i loop il press one button but it will turn a different thing on its really weird :/ i mean ive read a bit about people having similar problems, and i know people who have never had a problem. besides that i love the dl4, but here i am looking at this pedal probably for the same use as you :P haha
invest in a volume pedal. you can control your picking technique more.....what happens is you attack more on the recording than your initial loop so you can hear it better. play your rhythm or bass track at a good volume. crank your volume down to about 3/4 on your volume pedal. OR Fine tune your picking technique to attack more smoothly and with less volume.
This is my favorite pedal! It's inspired atleast 4 songs at this point. If you don't have one, it's totally worth every penny.
Can't wait for the box to arrive. Cost me $144 delivered.
I'm just a caveman; your effects pedals frighten and confuse me.
This video is better than the instruction manual for this pedal. I just learned so much! Had it for a year and love it by the way.
this is by far the best pedal in my board.

No man, you're talking about the original memory man, one of the greatest delays out there, very warm
Y'all gots the BEST demos on the web. All the right gear, properly displayed and demoed. I wish I'd seen this vid before I sold my MMw/Hazarai!! Now,I have a clearer understanding of how it works... worked. Ack!
When in Loop mode, make sure the REPEATS knob is dialed full clockwise, and there will be no attenuation between the overdubs.
I've owned this pedal for a while and I really hate admitting it, but this thing definitely shat all over my tone and volume as soon as I hit the bypass switch. The presets are great and so is everything else, and sometimes it's not as bad if you play around with the blend knob.

Memory Man w/ Hazarai ALL THE WAY.
Truly fantastic! I dont own a Memory Man but I do own a few vintage EHX pedals, this ones going in the wish list!!!!
Hazarai means everything
Picked this up a few days ago, i can only begin to fathom the possibilities with this pedal
thank you for the excellent demonstration...i'm sold. because you did such a wonderful job with this video, i am going to buy mine from you guys. rock on!
best pedal i've ever bought and i've had a lot. it's so useful. pair it up with a tube zipper and a good compressor and it is heaven.
This is digital, while the DMM is analog. This has a lot of features, but the DMM is warmer and more musical to most ears.
@sususegar idk about other videos, but dry vs wet is the amount of effected signal that plays in relation to clean signal. most delay pedals have some sort of mix or level knob that brings in more or less of the delayed signal.

@bioken007 This is a digital delay. The Memory Boy is analog.
Both are very good delays and would work well with each other.
One of my friends uses both on his board, he gets some crazy sounds going.
this must be the coolest pedal ever!
no, thats why i returned it. for this i would suggest the mxr carbon copy. straight forward analog delay with modulation like the delux memory man but the size of the phase 90. i love mine
This pedal sounds so good. Definitely gonna get me one when I've saved up enough cash.
@ acolytes777, this pedal for certain! I own one. It's amazing! It's the most versatile, unique delay I've ever heard, especially for the price! Also, the EHX Stereo Memory Man w/ Hazrai doesn't sound digital.

I know this baby has a billion options, but do you think it would be a good choice for a solid digital delay with tap tempo at a reasonable price?
there is no contest. This has way more to offer. Thats the way it is with all eh pedals.
This is a great demo of a great pedal. Anyone have any opinions regarding this vs an echolution, also a great piece.
I recently got the Hardwire DL-8. It's got all those features, in a much smaller box. I'd suggest checking out PGS' demo of it.
In fact, this pedal made him want to get into effects units, it was one of his first pedals.
the DD-20 is around the same price as this thing, and the boss one doesnt have a looper, which is a really great feature.
I have this pedal and ive found some amazing settings i love it
now i can play all the mars volta shit ive been listening to
i just got this pedal today and i have played the deluxe, i recon this ones better for stuffing around on :)
you know, there's a rule in EHX pedals: if they have six knobs on the top, and the top right one is white, they're awesome pedals!!!
i love this pedal. that being said, the only issue i have with mine, is that sometimes with my amp cranked and my gain up, the modulation is so strong its really hard on my speaker. i have a bad feeling its going to blow my amp one night. any thoughts PGS?

@ChetZenor any delay pedal by eletro harmonix and theres another great analog delay pedal pigtronix echolution
Is there a way to hear just the effect and not the guitar playing behind? (on the Reverse echo effect for example) Does the blend knob does that?
Yes, the blend knob at fully clockwise will produce a 100% wet signal.

hey, im trying to decide between this and the tc electronic nova delay. my main influences are bands such as pink floyd and radiohead, and i prefer a warmer , slightly modulated sound and would probably be using the pedal for ambient effects such as reverse delay and volume swells. which would you recommend?
sorry for beeing a noob but which is the diference between this one and the deluxe memory man
Which is better, the Line 6 DL4 Delay or the Memory Man with Hazari? I'm stuck between the 2. I really like the Memory Man but the DL4 has more features? I like to play more ambient sounding like stuff life As Cities Burns and Circa Survive. I feel like the Memory Man would be the best route but maybe the DL4 could do some more things.
I know nothing about modding pedals, but would it be possible to mod this pedal so that the modulation setting produces a pitch vibrato sound?
whats better?A Memory man or a Line 6 dl-4 ??
whats better? A Line 6 DL4 Delay Modelor or this Electro Harmonix pedal? currently i have a DL4 and im thinking about selling it and getting this.
hey guys i got some questions about this stuff....first of is this a true analogue delay???second can u put some sort of chorus/flanger sounds on it??? and last can u use this pedal as pre-amp signal?????
thanx for any further response!!!
ive just felt in love
deluxe memory man or the Electro Harmonix Memory Man with Hazarai?? what do you guys say?
can anyone explain in simple yet encompassing manner, what's the difference between dry and wet signal, and what happens when they are mixed? maybe include some examples that can be found on youtube too.
i can't choose between this or the akai headrush. cus the akai headrush has a better looper and tape delay, but no reverse delay.
The lighting doesn't allow us to see the knob labels. Because I can't see what the guitarist is doing, I don't know what is being played by the box vs the guitarist.
This is the most ridiculous pedal. I love it.
What is the song that is the intro for all the Pro Guitar Shop demos?
Can you crank up the repeats and twist them out of control like you can with the memory man deluxe?
analog or digital
can you change preset by foot?
+1 this pedal is awesome
crazy pedal
which one its better the dd20, the dd7, the ibanez analog delay or the dl4 line 6?
plz answer
thx
it this one is good or boss dd-3-5-6-7 ? or line 6 delay pedal dm 4
does this pedal suck your tone? thnkz
The deluxe memory man has more of a warm analog sound in my opinion.
Can you record a loop using the other effects?
That was a deluxe memory man, an analog delay. It sounds nothing like the Hazarai.
@TheFuzzB Dude I've had a DL4 for years, I love it. I recommend getting the dl4 first, then this cause it's much more comprehensive. But once you've got the DL4 down, get this! I'm buying this pedal as soon as I can, I'm sure Colin from Circa would tell you the same! this one will definitely be more experimentally fun.
does it come with its own power adaptor?
Hazarai is like Hebrew or Yiddish I think, it meanes everything. Like you'd order a sandwich with hazarai.
can you use this pedal with a bass?
can you use an expression pedal with this?
sorry, but what is a true bypass?
Does this pedal have true bypass?
I want this pedal.
who does think that this is better than the boss dd20 or the line6 dl4?
Jesus - looks like you need a degree to work this bad boy
I would love to have this.
Depends what YOU want.
I prefer the Memory man.
haha the stuff at 2:26 is great!
is this analog?
no it does not have true bypass
it's got a good quality buffer, which is better than true bypass if you've got a big board, since having a lot of true bypass pedals on your chain can really kill your tone.
memory man deluxe o memory man hazari whos better?
WHERE IS STEREO???
@TheFuzzB i love my dl4 but it gets finicky sometimes. like random glitches especially when i loop il press one button but it will turn a different thing on its really weird :/ i mean ive read a bit about people having similar problems, and i know people who have never had a problem. besides that i love the dl4, but here i am looking at this pedal probably for the same use as you :P haha
@jezmundberserker
not really, other features perhaps, but not more...
invest in a volume pedal. you can control your picking technique more.....what happens is you attack more on the recording than your initial loop so you can hear it better.
play your rhythm or bass track at a good volume. crank your volume down to about 3/4 on your volume pedal.
OR
Fine tune your picking technique to attack more smoothly and with less volume.
Oh I want one.
Hazarai , or Chazarai s a yiddish word that means junk, garbage, all that jazz and the kitchen sink.
Every time I record lots of over dubs the previous ones start getting quieter
dd-20 has a looper
@uiterniels sure of it, man. It is
Hazarai means "all the good stuff"
fucking awesome, this is my next pedal
It's worth metioning that the Deluxe is not a looper which kills it for me.
The Evintide TimeFactor is way more complicated!!!! Matt.
This or MXR carbon copy?
it will take you all day to figure this pedal out... I BET !!!
@Chumleh win what?
cool
Digital!
can i use it for my Bass??!
anyone?
