Obviously phlog is balanced since it can be countered with an uber, just have an uber any time they use it... or just be sniper and hit all of the headshots 100% of the time or just hit them with a random crit from any weapon. ez lmao, don't know why people complain. If a pyro turns a corner with MMMPH without you even knowing they are there, it's your fault 100% of the time

The biggest flaw in the weapons design is that it punishes the entire team for new players on them, think about all of the times a phlog pyro gained free crits on the brand new heavy, thats not fair for the other 11 players on that heavies team as they get crited for 1 person being inexperienced.
Just like how this guy is wrong in the video. The argument of same positioning and vulnerability really only works if the variables are the same. In actuality, the speed and damage buff make it so when the sentry is cleared in 2 shots, the soldier can dip out quicker leading to less time in a vulnerable position. He also talks about how the reaction speed of engineers is the same with 2 vs 3 rockets, but ignores the fact that as an engineer you can repair faster than soldier can deal damage with stock as long as you have an infinte ammo source. That being said i dont think that the direct hit is OP at all. Its a good sentry destroyer.

LogRoll Well if your experienced then you should know dodging is the best counter, because unlike all other rocket launchers... it doesn't have a big splash radius. If they hit you, its not the weapons fault, its the "terrible soldiers" getting direct hits on you. The weapon, by nature, rewards better aim.
Can we all just notice that the weapon that rewards accuracy for damage is also the same weapon that pulls a loch-n-load and makes the shots 10 times easier to hit? like, seriously?

Just gonna throw a couple ideas out to see what people think: Direct Hit matches the stock's base 90 damage, but: A-Ramps up in damage over distance, from 24 at point blank to 112 at high range. (would give some opportunity for the enemy to dodge more powerful shots, could become a spammy sort of lucksman, and could encourage soldiers to completely disregard their roles and play from afar which would waste their high mobility and health) B-With less fall off or ramp up. (Maybe minimum to 40 and maximum to 102, exchanging high damage needed against tanks in close quarters for more consistency against squishies at medium/long range) C-A combination of both, maybe? Anyhow, I always wondered if messing with the damage ramp wasn't a better solution for the Direct Hit than base damage.
My problem with the Direct Hit isn't itss effectiveness against Engineers - it's the projectile speed. The Direct Hit makes it much easier to land Direct Hits but rewards players for doing so, which both goes against its motto of rewarding players with good aim and makes it disgusting in 1v1s, pretty much deleting Scout and Pyro from the videogame. I think that if the extra projectile speed were to be reduced or even removed then the Direct Hit would be a much more balanced weapon.

Honestly make the direct hit's rockets increase in damage the future the soldier is away from them meaning it's harder to be used against engineeers who aren't completely stupid and so it also can't be used as a oneshotting melee weapon. should have talked about the fact that the weapon that rewards aiming is a mele weapon that can one shot 4 of the 9 classes :) i think that the damage buff should be replaced with a reduction in damage fall off, so it would reward the player not for being in other peoples face but to try and aim at a medium distance. rant over
Cosmic Afro Engineer gets so many stupid weapons that I don’t think there was ever a serious discussion about a weapon being “overpowered” towards engineer. If you want to talk about overpowered, look at engineers secondary unlocks. They’re skillless and provide massive upsides.
@@logroll2353 I agree regarding the Wrangler - in fact the Wrangler is a real contender for the most op weapon in the game - but I disagree regarding the Short Circuit. It has way more requirements to function (the Engineer must have metal, be between the building and the enemy, etc) and has way more downsides as compared to the Wrangler - it can't defend against hitscan, it can't defend from multiple angles, and it's piss-poor as a ranged weapon which gives it a tangible downside over the stock pistol (not that the stock pistol is any good, kind you). The Short Circuit is relatively balanced and I don't think it's an urgent issue like the Wrangler.
TBH all explosive damage weapons should be much much more severe on point blank self damage. Often a soldier can just tank the damage against weaker classes and win by default. Same for demo's with shields. It's the same for all soldier primaries, just particularly brutal with the Direct Hit.
So what are your thoughts about the Beggar's Bazooka being able to wipe out sentries in the blink of an eye? Sure, it only works at close-ish range, but that still severely limits a lot of otherwise effective sentry spots.
Because it's only from close-range does it make it a fair trade-off. ANYTHING close range, including mini-guns, pipes, stickies, scatterguns, etc. are effective at close range.
The deviation makes this 100% impossible outside of nearly point blank range. The beggars bazooka is probably the worst rocket launcher excluding of course the rocket jumper for attacking sentry guns.
Cosmic Afro I know a friend that’s used the beggars bazooka for more than 4,000 hours in game. I don’t think it’s the worst overall. the liberty launcher gets that spot. But it is definitely the worst in terms of fighting sentries
When I saw the title I thought it was gonna be you clapping back to various comments and making fun of people, but this was actually very interesting because you took the angle of being wrong and accepting that. I've never seen that, and I think it this was a lovely video.
i still think the direct hit has an issue with shooting from corners which is very easy for soldiers to do with little risk, and again is not any harder than say an ordinary rocket launcher. i guess it comes down to how situational the map is and how wide and open the area is where the sentry is placed. if we're talking hallways, like in ctf_2fort which has many, direct hit definitely has an unfair advantage against most sentry spots.
If anything, I think that just makes the point more valid. The Direct Hit is only going to be stronger in situations it's already strong in, but it's going to be much weaker literally everywhere else.

It just destroys the teamwork necessary to take down a well-placed sentry and turns it into an "I can peak twice and shoot two rockets 1-man-army style." I'd also like to disagree with the reaction time needed. And that's just way too good for a single weapon, 2fast2quick2littleeffort. I wouldn't say it's overpowered but it is broken in that regard.
