“Avengers: Endgame” was definitely a movie that was chock full of feels, and one particularly poignant moment was when Natasha Romanoff sacrificed herself so her friend Clint Barton could obtain the Soul Stone. But there are some fan theories out there which believe her fate in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a bit more ambiguous than it might have seemed at first glance. Could the Black Widow still be alive and stranded on Vormir? After all, that’s what happened to the Red Skull after “The First Avengers.” We didn’t get to see Captain America returning this particular Infinity Stone to its rightful place on the timeline and running into his old nemesis. Was this just due to time constraints or was this intentionally left open to interpretation? We’ll talk about all of the possible ways she could have managed to survive, and what actress Scarlett Johansson has to say about the odds she made it.

Yup, if the movie goes well, they could bring her back. if not they'll leave her dead.. also, since Loki escaped with the Space stone, a branch reality already exists where maybe Thor or IronMan or Cap America are killed off (= no Avengers Initiative).. perhaps the Black Widow there really had nothing to lose (or maybe Thanos' decimation still happens since no Avengers to stop him), and she decides to go to the current reality (depending on how the Multiverse of Madness goes), and so on.. lots of possibilities

When Cap went back to give the stones, he should have gotten her back. If it is “a soul for a soul” to get the stone, it should be “a soul for a soul.”

I think that, there is one thing to consider if Kevin Feige decides to bring her back, that screenwriters shoudl keep in mind:
Gamora was sacrificed against her will, she was a unwilling participant in the soul stone ritual.
Natasha gave her life freely, she chose to die to save others. There is you plot device.

I was actually going through my own theories and there could be a possibility that black widow could be alive. There was a Scarlett Johansson interview saying that Natasha Romanoff and Yelena Bulova often swapped faces. I don't know about the rest of the community but I happened to catch that one...
Still the problem that even if Yelena swapped places with Nat, it wouldn't have worked, since Hawkeye didn't deeply love Yelena, he loved Nat, so if BW was Yelena, they wouldn't have gotten the Soul Stone with Yelena's sacrifice.
I agree with you there but He said, "soul for a soul" she could have sacrificed herself just for the greater good of the universe. Look at the movie face off for instance. When they swapped faces, they had to play the life of that character as well as their mannerisms, personality, ideologies, etc. Why couldn't Yelena have done the same for Natasha? Even without seeing the Black Widow movie, We Know that there's a possibility that Yelena's family would be wiped out in the movie, so why wouldn't she want to go out for the greater good?

I think the red skull was bound to guard the soul stone. When it was taken by Clint the red skull could leave. Cap obvious had to bring the soul stone back after Clint had taken the soul stone, so i think the red skull was already gone when cap came there. Red skull had probably moved on too the afterlife, death. And because the soul stone is brought back it also needs a new guardian. What if black widow is forced to become the new guardian? Sure the deal was a soul for a soul and cant be reversed, but by forcing black widow to become the new guardian she can never leave Vormir and her soul is still trapped and again a soul (the soul stone) for a soul ( your soul to guard to stone for eternity). She could be alive, but i don't think in that way. Thor suggested that idea when Hulk was going to snap the first time, but Clint said it can't be undone. The soul for a soul trade is permanent, unless maybe when the stone was returned, Nat got her life back. If your theory would be correct, I think the original Gamora should also be back from Hulk's snap. But the only Gamora we ended up seeing was 2014 Gamora.`

I love black widow and I was so sad when she died and it was the first movie I really cried in, but I feel like if they brought her back, it would just be like, oh. They reported that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is supposed to bring in Adam Warlock. His connection to the Soul Stone and we have not yet seen the full capabilities of this particular stone. We've only seen it being used with the other stones. Thor is with them.
With Warlock they could try to bring back Gamora's adult soul/put it into younger version. And try to revive Natasha/possibly Tony.
Stark was a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy for a bit.
Captain America might check to see if Natasha were revived when he returns the stone. MCU producers said that Steve and Schmidt did meet at Voromir. Cap said that all loopholes were closed off. This was in the past, meaning Steve would've had to have returned the stone and put Red Skull back on guard duty. He won't be released from Guard duty until Thanos returns years later.
I'm excited for this movie, and Natasha is one of my top 5 favorites, so I want to think it's possible she's still alive somewhere. In theory, when Cap brought back the Soul Stone it is possible that in doing so he brought Natasha back and Skull was then free or died. Either way, Natasha would still be on Vormir, as the new keeper of the Soul Stone.
Nebula said Vormir is the dominion of death and the center of celestial existence. Plus she’s not really dead Red Skull said a soul for a soul. Energy can’t be created nor destroyed simply transferred. That’s also why the people who were snapped away aren’t really dead. They were just willed out of existence.

If Bucky can survive falling off of a moving train down onto jagged sharp rocks, Nat can survive falling down a cliff onto flat ground.
Well I mean Bucky was tested in the lab before he fell, so he would be stronger, also he lost an arm so he probably fell ON his arm, so the rest of his body didn't hit the ground with as much force. He also got taken in by Hydra after that, and they probably repaired him or something. Plus he landed on a few feet of snow, while Natasha fell much further down than Bucky, and landed on hard flat rock. I do hope she's alive though, maybe when Cap returns the stone she'll come back to life. Plus, In the new LOKI trailer, we see like 5 seconds of what looks like Natasha on Vormir. And there's a BW movie, so who knows, maybe the post-credits scene will be her waking up and realizing that was all just glimpses of her past. And when Peter Quill + the GOTG come to look for Garmora, they might find Nat.

If you recall when Cap fought Cap in Endgame, there were actually 3 Caps in the world at that time because the Cap who went back to the 1940s was in still in the shadows and aging as he went forward in time over decades. At least 2 (possibly all 3) Caps can use the Infinity Gem Cap is entrusted with to battle the spirit of the Red Skull for Natasha's life, possibly even before her death. One of the Caps might even be the one who necessarily sacrifices himself...or trick the Red Skull to do it. You are welcome, Disney.

When Nats was at Avengers head quarters making that peanut butter sandwich before Steve in walked there was a worried look on her face. It might not have been about Ronin but she had that look as if she knew what the outcome would be in End Game. Could it be that she got a message or some important info from Steve when he stayed behind with Peggy? This is the second time I’ve seen a channel like this “advertise” Disney+, yet I see no mention in the video or description saying it’s an ad 🧐🤨🤔

The interesting thing to think of if Natasha came back is, technically, she’d be worthy to handle Mjolnir. We know that worthiness is selflessness, or the willing to give your own life for something or someone else e.g Thor facing The Destroyer, America jumping on the grenade or crashing the plane etc. Since Natasha gave her own life for the greater good, then, by what we’ve seen before, she’d be worthy.

I have a huge theorie: So in black widow post credit scene there could be a scene were steve returns the soul stone. But he realized that he came before a hour before Clint and Natasha did so he waited for them to arrive. And then he tells Natasha who sacrifices the stone and either they've won or lost so then he brings natasha back and Clint still going. Then at the end it could say "Natasha will return"
2nd theory
So in the the Guardians of the galaxy 3 they can find how gamora died. So they go vomir with thor and then find gamora and natasha strangled there. Then they save them both
Last theory:
So in the new docter strange movie scarlett witch and docter strange talk about endgame and some deaths so then they realise they can bring them back with there powers using time travel. So they save: Vision, iron man and black widow they also think about loki's and think about how they can find him but then they start to realise hes with thanos so then they can possibly bring thor. So then they save loki secretly and tell loki why and what's gonna happen

The difference between Gamora and Natashas death is that Gamora was sacrificed by her father for what he thought was the greater good but not for her beliefs and in the end his scheme was the evil of the movie.
Natasha sacrificed herself in order for the greater good to thrive and to allow her pal to earn redemption which she had already done with the sacrifice tipping it off.
Therefore Gamora's death was unjust which makes me happy and comfortable with another version of her coming back. but theres not much reason for nat to come back and her death seemed pretty final and was a good ending.
