Christ, what is with the doom and gloom? From almost certain relegation fodder we've gone to a 4th place and 7th place finish in the league and a cup final in the space of 2 years since the takeover. Under this ownership we're now likely to be challenging for European places every year and taking cups seriously. The club will be spending as much as it can UNDER THE RULES. What more can you ask for, what do people actually want them to do? We've still got to make up about £400 million a year in revenue on the big clubs. Do people think that is going to happen overnight? Honestly man, there is no pleasing some of our fanbase. Some of the most miserable there is.
I couldn't of said it better myself . People expect too much too quickly . We aren't playing fifa this is how it works in real life . PSR isn't helping but we are maneuvering around it quite well . Theres alot of work being done behind the scenes but alot of us don't understand it . If people think these recent signings are the quality we're going for then they're sadly mistaken . Patience is the thing we need the most . And after 30yrs of supporting this club, im prepared to have a little patience

The overhaul is happening. Opinions of, are largely great. Of course I think we'd all like to be that fly on the wall to get that real insight as to what, who, where, when!

Some fans live in fantasy land. When the takeover happened we literally had a full squad of 25 mediocre underperforming players with players having nominal sell on values, alongside a financial background of limited spend and sponsorship/revenue. In the last 2.5 years eddie howe has improved the players we have increasing their value, got champions league whilst bringing in only a handful of top draw/world class players. With ffp it was always gonna take 5-7 years to increase revenue to levels of man city/man utd/arsenal etc enabling us to spend big and weve spent 350m+. Probably a 3rd of the way through overhauling the whole squad. They are moving as fast as they can given ffp, and fans also forget we are having to try and convince world class players to come to the cold north east over some big European clubs that are established in Europe. Clearly they are pushing the limits on ffp to improve the squad. 2-4 top quality players a season is the reality whilst also replacing other areas and strengthening... realistically this window I'd like to see maybe antonio silva or tomori coming in at centre back, raphinha at right wing, (or gibbs white) marma as keeper, and a young forward
Agreed but think it will take slightly longer than 5-7 yrs if these bs fffp restraints remain in place. Great comment tho.. perfectly summarized our situation

The Saudi project is NOT over!!The 30 June sales were needed for PSR reasons. Other sales...
Miggy, Wilson, Dubravka etc will also be sold and almost definitely replaced by younger and less injury prone players. Start worrying if we haven't signed new blood by the end of the transfer window.

I think its good business selling Miggy Almiron, Callum Wilson and Martin Dubravka, what ever the money Newcastle United get for them, its better than in 12 months time getting nothing for them, plus there would be money to get better players than Bruceball's Deadwood, they are my thoughts, this is Choppy In Whitehaven, Cumbria, England
agred if we could add Targett , Fraser and Hayden to that then ther is room in wages to big upgrad on RW and CB and a DM but dont think we ever get a DM whit Eddie as manager.
OVERHAUL in capital letters... calm down. Let's judge this transfer window, both ins and outs in their entirety, when it is completed. Only the first phase; getting past the PSR safely has been steered, wobbly admittedly, but now let's wait to see what happens in the 'second half' of this merry-go-round of who's in and who's out the swinging doors before we pass judgement.
For the right sided back up for Schar Thiaw, if the rumors are true, would be a great addition. Another German actually from the other Milan team, Yann Bisseck, would be equally as impressive. Although it does sound like Bisseck is set for more responsibility at Milan next season, so may be impossible.
For RW I reckon Neto would be an incredible get. His crossing could push Isak above 25+ goals next season as well as help Wilson out, who I think we should keep by the way. Feels like an age since we have had someone who can actually cross the ball from RW. Additionally, Pedro would fit in well with the other Portuguese speaking players at the club.

I don't understand why you say the Burn, Trips, Bruno transfers are "off the books" now.....the transfer costs are amortised over the length of the individual contracts. Just because the transfer took place 3 years ago doesn't mean those costs are necessarily "off the books"
We need to bring in 100 mil of players centre half right wing and forward of some description

I would like to see:
Thiaw or Huijsen, young CB's with a high ceiling and low floor leaving lots of room to develop. I think a fee over 30m will be needed to convince Milan or Juve to sell.
Matias Soule , was on loan from Juve to Fracionone last season and no player in Europe created more shot creating actions and they were a relegated team. He is young, very high ceiling and is good enough to start. I think 30-40m is needed.
Ademola Lookman, while he didnt' do well at Leicester as he was a bit raw, he did evolve as a player, I can see 30m-40m needed to get that deal done.

We’ve cleared some deadwood and brought in more average players. Not good enough although if we can’t spend then this is the future for us which is still better then relegation

Think we needed an overhaul but I'm a little concerned we're losing a lot of leaders in the squad. Would be good if Ritchie could stay on in a coaching role.
I reckon the cut price moves for our second and third choice keepers, not that you'd spend much on a third choice but I digress, was dictated by missing out on Tosin on a free. You would imagine the money saved will go towards a decent right sided centre half.
And a TWO footed RW.
