    p.s, while fixing this also fixed a problem with the drain hole getting clogged under the wipers against the body. had to wetvac water out and unclog drain hole as it was putting water onto the floor of the car, have you ran into this also , seems common.

    awesome help thanks..... just did it all in an hour..and the disconnecting the battery was important, i may not have thought of that, and watching you run into the hitch of having to remove the intake saved time also. the one lower left bolt goes up into the plastic housing, so removing the two bolts holding the alternator in lets you angle it a hair to the left to get the other bolt out safely.... thanks alot for the lesson. after watching this changing it was a breeze. btw... just fyi the sockets needed are 8mm and 10mm long.....and one extension for the two lower bolts on the intake.

    I just replaced mine after watching this video. It seemed a little harder than the video showed, but no big deal. I was getting the code p0340, which is the crank shaft position sensor. Everything I read Online said just replace the alternator. Feedback loop electrical issue triggering the sensor or something. We'll see.

    Info was very helpful thank you. If I can offer a suggestion- would be helpful to know what size/type socket or wrench you are using for each function (i.e.- 10mm for the bolts holding the alternator bracket in place, etc).

    After installing my Detroit Rocker Cams and unable to fix this issue myself cause im disabled (wheelchair bound) a few months ago I had a friend replace my alternator with a remanufactured one from eBay to solve my check engine light problem with the code being p0340 coming out on my sct tuner. Unfortunately several months later it came back with the same problem but this time with additional codes p0340, p0012 and p0344. I should've done my homework and investigated a bit more on this diode issue. So my question is which one is the correct alternator to eliminate these codes?? Ive only found one alternator on eBay for $370 that claims to eliminate this issue but still the price is steep and if theres something cheaper that might work id like to know. Thanks!
