      @@whom382 “I Want You” is the blues, granted the blues is the foundation of metal however the song itself is just the blues it’s lyrics are simple and they are sang with emotion, 2 key factors in a blues song. It’s in 4/4 with a simple smooth drum beat and breezy loose guitar playing, all distinct to the blues. Metal involves very tight guitar playing and the drumming is very hard and heavy the polar opposite of blues playing even if the riffs and scales are the same or close to the same. The song is still a fine song and it is one of the better Beatles songs imo however and I’m not trying to discredit it as being a good song

Metal was about sending a message typically a message of warning of caution, wasn’t all about making love and drugs. Best example of how the two are different is Led Zepplin is hard rock Black Sabbath is Metal. One of my former bands did "Electric Eye," so I know it back to front. This mashup is a stroke of genius, the maker somehow hearing JB's vocals meshing with the Priest song perfectly. The closest I ever got to 'so clever' was a medley of "Is She Really Going Out with Him?" and "21st Century Schizoid Man." Try it.

  • @drewrice4500
    @drewrice4500 2 ปีที่แล้ว +18

    The most brilliant part of this mashup to my ear is that James Brown’s vocal cadence and delivery is very similar in its staccato and punchy character as Halford’s. The vocal timbre is even similar in the chorus. It really couldn’t have been better chosen.

      @@GuppyCzar No, he accurately used musical terms, staccato meaning detached from one another, which describes the way in which both James and Rob sing in parts of their respective songs and timbre is a combination of a few things but mostly pitch and intensity, which again are quite close to one another in the choruses of the respective songs.
      So in essence not only are you deaf, you are an idiot as well

      Where was this in my beloved 1980's! The Ebony and Ivory of music genres. Growing up listening to Soul music at home and Rock only on radio, once MTV and my secondary school days met, I began to love Metal also. The fusion of the two is kind of me in a nutshell! Because I love all kinds of music.

      @@wildwoodandonyx For me, the tracks that made the Soul Metal fusion concept actually were a Rap/Metal thing first. AC/DC's song "Back In Black" while it is a Metal track, unlike Bon Scott, Brian Johnson I initially thought he was mostly shouting the lyrics. Rapping if you will. Then came VH's cover of "Dancing In The Streets", and oddly enough The Bulletboys cover of the O'Jay's "For The Love Of Money." I guess because as a musician and becsme a music manic who listens to everything, the fusion of genres has always interested me. Things really exploded transposing guitar instrumentals and Rock solos for my alto sax also secondary school and university. MTV and being exposed to new people of different backgrounds, races, cultures while studying music at university helped which led to my working in Music Retail for 30 years. Numerous concerts, clinics, and music and instrument demonstrations by Tony MacAlpine, Paul Gilbert, Chris Impelleteri, and others wizards have all been blessings.
