George Harrison and Jeff Lynne were good friends and formed a super-group called The Traveling Wilburys (with Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and Roy Orbison). After John Lennon died, the three remaining Beatles called on Jeff Lynne to help finish and produce John's final songs with them.
Before Wilburys, Tom Petty produced Orbison's last album Mystery Girl and spearheaded the "Black and White Night" tribute to Orbison. He also produced Petty's Full Moon Fever (his BIGGEST hit), and the follow-up album. And he produced Harrison's Cloud Nine, which was his biggest album since his solo debut. After working on the Anthology tracks with The Beatles, Paul had Jeff Lynne produce his album Flaming Pie which is probably one of his Top 5 albums (ok, maybe #6)
@@TheNedH Change the 3rd and 4th words of your comment from "Tom" & "Petty" to "Jeff" & "Lynne". Also, in regard to Flaming Pie, it was Paul's FIRST post-Beatles album to debut as high as #2, something he and Jeff were quite chuffed about in interviews.
Back around 1973, John Lennon was a guest DJ on a big radio station, playing his favorite songs at the time. When spinning ELO’s hit “Showndown,” he called ELO “son of The Beatles.”
You would have loved to live during the youth of my time. This and all these songs you have enjoyed were playing all over the radio and their albums in the homes of ours or our friends. Thank you!!
I saw ELO almost 48 years ago and your description of the energy & light show is exactly how I felt all those years back. I was blown away at how amazing they sounded. I think we are so fortunate to have those great music memories!
It's the songs that "hit" us in some way that we go back over and "pick apart" (sometimes for many years!). ELO has a number of those songs. Excellent band and musicians.
I get goosebumps listening to this song and I first heard it 47 years ago Jeff Lynne is a musical genius so many great songs ❤ thank you for your reaction
*Bro! When you zoning out then get that big smile, we know you feelin' it! Keep up the grind, we lovin' it! E.L.O. is still touring, by the way!* 🙌🏾💪🏾👊🏾
Watching this orchestra play live is also very entertaining. "Evil Woman" and "All Over The World" are two more great songs by ELO. They were huge in the 70's.
This is definitely one of those "feel good" songs. I hope you watch live videos, even if it's just on your own. Always cool to watch the orchestra at work. 🎸🎻🥁🪇
This is background music for me. I clicked on this because it was you. I didn't even recognize the name of the song and yet it was part of my youth. It was the sort of music I would have on in my room when I cleaned my room or did my homework. But I didn't even know the name of it. It was part of the wallpaper of my life. ELO was kind of like that and a number of other bands that were just in the background and I could hum along with it and I didn't change the radio.
Jeff and George Harrison were friends and worked together quite a bit. Jeff produced George's "Cloud Nine" album, as well as some stuff with Paul and Ringo. The ELO rabbit hole is quite large. I'm partial to the "Out Of The Blue" album. Jeff went full bore orchestra wise, and it's quite evident in the quality of the production. You know "Mr Blue Sky." Other popular tunes,"Turn To Stone "and "Sweet Talking Woman" from the same album. You're always a pleasure to watch. Thanks once again. 🤘😎❤
So right young Sir!..never fail to deliver a positive fun vibe. They indeed are overall a positive, uplifting feel for sure. Mnay people mention their close sound to the Beatles, in fact Jeff Lynne has been hailed to the "Fifth Beatle". He is a musical genius and yes it is a term used readily today but this man, this musician deserves it. Part of the super group "Trvaelling Wilbury's" and worked with all-time greats such as George Harrison and the late great Roy Orbison, playing a huge instrumental part in Roy's renaissance for the younger listeners back in the 80s with such great songs as "You've Got It" and "Love so Beautiful" ELO still performing high quality superb music today some 54 years after they were formed. Thanks for a well thought out honest reaction.Enjoyed it
Jeff Lynne is a genius! He plays almost all of the instruments on ELO's studio recordings. He also writes all the music and does a lot of the arranging. I loved Jeff in the Traveling Wilburys, too. That was a supergroup comprised of Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, George Harrison, Roy Orbison and Jeff Lynne. Their songs and vocals were great. You might like to react to them. I had those albums on cassette tape and played them until the tape was worn out. Roy Orbison is another person you need to check out. He has the most beautiful voice and was my absolute favorite until I heard Freddie Mercury. Even Elvis thought Roy was the best singer even over himself.
You must watch a live version of this song for yourself. It so nice watching them playing their instruments. I saw them in the fall and they were great. They sang every single hit. I think it's their last tour. Jeff Lynne kindof look grail but still sounded great
Jeff Lynne is in the legendary super-group The Traveling Wilbury's. I highly recommend you check them out. "End Of The Line" or "Handle With Care" would be a good starting point. You'll be floored when you see who the other guys in the band are.
Try ELO's 1976 classic, *"Tightrope",* you'll love it! (Use the original album studio version, just like you did here. Save live performances for later reactions after you've already reacted to the studio version.)
💙E.L.O.!!! E.L.O. -Turned to Stone -All Over the World -Showdown -Hold On Tight -Shine a Little Love -Do Ya -Tightrope -Can’t Get It Out of my Head -Strange Magic -Sweet Talkin’ Woman
I generally prefer the studio versions of songs for reactors, but with this song, it's fun to see the violin player perform her solo parts throughout the song, but you gotta do what you gotta do.
Jeff Lynn of ELO wrote 15 top ten songs including one he wrote for Roy Orbison. Just to give you a perspective on that, even legendary songwriters like John Denver and Kris Kristopherson only wrote 6 or 7 top ten hits.
Approaching 30 K! I love your channel and your reactions. You would have fit right in in the 70s and 80s! You would have definitely been one of the first friends to "show" new music too! Also some are saying Triumph is an uplifting band and that is a fact! You'd love them! "Magic Power" " Fight The Good Fight" Yes, Lennon said ELO are the sons of the Beatles. Also Glenn Frey (Eagles) said that Little River Band is the best singing band in the world! You should give them a go, their harmonies are insane! "It's A Long Way There" "Lonesome Loser" and "Night Owls" are my favorite. I see 100 K in your near future ❤
En "Living Thing" no estan acreditadas en coros: Ellie Greenwich, Brie Brandt, Patti Quatro. La cancion alcanzo la posicion #4 en UK. John Lennon tenia 2 exitos de ELO en su lista favorita "Showdown" y "All Over The World". Jeff Lynne ,vocalista de ELO, trabajo como productor y coautor, para The Beatles, Paul McCartney, Ringo Star y George Harrison. Next reaction te sugiero " TighTrope" otro gran hit sonorico de ELO. De 1976.
Please do yourself a favor and check out two earlier ELO songs. First off they have an EPIC version of a Chuck Berry classic...Roll Over Beethoven. Chuck Berry is an original rock guitar hero. No Chuck Betty, no Keith Richards. Also a song from their Third record, Ma-Ma-Ma-Ma Belle It's a deeper cut, but fans of ELO love this track. It's a certified banger. Trust me👍
You got the name right. He is famous but not in a way he should be. The average person doesn't know who he is like Tom Petty or George Harrison. But he's on that level
Hey Dude, you should check out ELO's work on the XANADU ( 1980 ) soundtrack HERE is a taste th-cam.com/video/b1DhJdGNuu8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=0ptVDuOYFuhc3qa7&t=1
'Can't Get It Out of My Head" is one of my favorites! You will love it too, promise
ELO is such a soundscape….it takes you somewhere. I love to watch another generation appreciate this vintage music!!! Thank you!!!

Wish those days never ended.
Ditto. I do enjoy watching the kids discovering all the great music we had.
Jeff Lynne is a musician’s musician,he is a terrific songwriter and a unique singer.
Tom Petty called Jeff, *"The greatest all-around musician I've ever met."*
Back around 1973, John Lennon was a guest DJ on a big radio station, playing his favorite songs at the time. When spinning ELO’s hit “Showndown,” he called ELO “son of The Beatles.”
*1974
Fact: Jeff Lynne is a better writer and musician than all the Beatles combined.
You echo my thoughts on them. ELO is the definition of uplifting.
Catchy but also really well made music.
You would have loved to live during the youth of my time. This and all these songs you have enjoyed were playing all over the radio and their albums in the homes of ours or our friends. Thank you!!
FINALLY got to see them live - in Chicago last October. The energy in that arena was absolutely electrifying. Killer light show too.
I saw ELO almost 48 years ago and your description of the energy & light show is exactly how I felt all those years back. I was blown away at how amazing they sounded. I think we are so fortunate to have those great music memories!

Mr. Blue Sky
Incredibly feel good song

ITS OK TO SMILE THROUGH THE WHOLE SONG! WE ALL DO
Thanks for this! I haven't heard them in a while, they have much great music!

What a great song! You’d also like to”Sweet Talkin’ Woman”, “Strange Magic”, “Turn To Stone”, and “Don’t Bring Me Down”.
ELO is soothing to the soul.

Great understanding of what E.L.O does.
You have learned a lot over the last little while.
Keep it up

Fire On High Fire On High
The back masking at the beginning says
"The music is reversible but time is not. Turn back turn back"
🤠🐂
Thanks, Dreezy.. such an amazing group.. Jeff Lynne was genius.... appreciate your reaction... (p.s. I'm old, so I still have the vinyl.. lol)

Another positive but harder rocking amazingly talented band is Triumph. Song Magic Power. You'll become a huge fan bro. Hi from Texas.
Can’t Get It Out of My Head my favorite. Love them. ❤
I love ELO.

No matter how sad
ELO gives you hope to change the problem into an aset.
You get it! Great reaction young man! New sub!
I think you would enjoy Supertramp too. Also a feel good band.

Telephone Line...live please! ❤
For a different but still solidly ELO experience, try Showdown.
The live performance of Telephone Line at Wembly Stadium is a gem!

Have you done Evil Woman. If not let's get into it
if you get a chance check out the Live At Wembley Stadium version of this song. Great energy great vibe.

Fun Fact - hard to believe but they were renowned for trashing hotel rooms.
It's a melding mix of perfection...a wonderful production...typical Jeff Lynne
