I lost my parents in recent years as well. It's a kick in the gut that's hard to get past. Maynard's music certainly helps though. He can relate, and then some.
I lost my mother, the light of my life, this year. These lyrics hit me hard. Mr. Keenan, you hit the nail on the head. I feel so much better from hearing this song, thank you so much.
I agree... This brought tears to my eyes when I saw/heard it for the first time... And every time since. So much emotion! Bullet Train is my second favorite, too.
@@jen-nahnuhnah7613 Personal Prometheus is good, I mean all of them are it's hard to pick a fav, I usually listen to the whole album while working and on certain days a different song will "hit" me just the right way for how I am feeling at that moment, so depends..
As well The Underwhelming. But I agree, you are correct! I'm still peeling these collection of tunes and searching deeper for the freeing of the truth there within this song and those others as well. This is the most stunning in its beautifulnis tho I do reckon. So beautiful and heartfelt these lyrics. A deeper truth in all of us, sooner or later at least I do presume. Anyway ❤
This is absolutely ethereal and enchanting. It's got that bit of a heaviness to it and a Depeche Mode quality that still remains uniquely Maynard throughout.
This is the one. From first listen, it hit me deep to the core. The whole album is amazing and so much more refined/mature in comparison to previous work. But this song... this is the one. It breaks my heart and triggers deep loss, but in such a beautiful way. It's been on repeat as a free form of therapy. ❤
I know right? Maynard puts so much emotion into every word he sings. It's like a punch to the sternum every time he utters "gone" such as at 3:33, feels like my heart is being wrung like a wet towel.
So many of Maynard's songs regardless of which band it is we're about his mother and everything he went through during and after the trauma. My wife thought ovarian cancer for 8 years before she passed and both of my boys were totally involved in it. I now have one who plays football for AD1 college program and another who flew 50 combat missions for the US navy and is going to school took go work for NASA. My connection with them and Maynard songs is incredibly deep and I really appreciate it.
I started listening to TOOL last year when Fear Inocolum came out. I was in grief due to my lover dying in August 2019. I listened over and over releasing my grief. Then I went back to Tool's other albums. Then in the past month or two it's been Puscifer. I love Puscifer too! I love the new releases!
Gotta check out Mer de Noms album from A Perfect Circle then cause its another Masterpiece straight up!!! Especially Brena, Magdalena, and Sleeping Beauty 3 gorgeous ass songs!!
I didn't 'get' this song 'till about the third listen, and then suddenly there I am driving back home through california in the middle of the night crying my damn eyes out.
Yes. I did have to listen to it also more than ones. That is what Maynard does. his delicacy of feeling in this song. I love it. And yeah, makes you cry when you are in a sad moment.
This song likely has not intertwining with the any other song. He wrote and recorded this when his dog was going to pass. These lyrics are in reference to his bitterness to the idea of feeling any happiness after losing her. And little known fact she was recorded on many tracks and albums.
Seen this song live 2 times i cried both times maynard is fkn amazing never seen anyone live that comes close to him his vocals are really simple but his god given talent is above anyone ever in my opinion
One of the saddest songs I've ever heard. Really resonates with me because it takes me back to a very painful loss I experienced when I was young. Amazing song.

They did this one live at the show in tampa a few weeks ago and i lost my shit! Maynard just sunk back into the back of the stage in a dim light and turned sideways and absolutely belted this one out. You could tell he was in his own world. I cried! Then i acted like i wasnt cryin next to my boys lol
Maynard said on his Instagram that he wrote this song a couple of years ago for his dog, Miho when they thought she was dying. She recovered but unfortunately passed on earlier this year at the ripe age of 15. RIP Miho!
True! Listened a few times tot this album and it keeps getting better! and what a jewel this song is with the delicacy of his voice, ...thank you Maynard.

I have #1 listener award on Spotify for listening to Puscifer so much, but the words and feeling the music gives are in explainable- this song beats the alchohol and drugs to the core everyday with pure rugged emotion.
I dedicate this to all those I lost, to my dearest Monty, my young dog who I still cry over remembering seeing him dying before me. I’m pierced through the heart and the wound still hurts deeper than hell.
Being alive while JMK is is like the reminder of life's greatest gifts just THERE. "...God damn the sun, leave me to my darkness..."
My fave quote of the song🥰
Never have I created more compelling works than when listening to the albums of Tool, A Perfect Circle, and Puscifer. Thank you.
So profound

Yeah, typical Maynard is typical. At first I didn't fall in love with any of the new songs, a week later I'm addicted to this one.
Yeah, there are some real gems on this album but there's something about this one that I can't really put into words that is on another level.
