I've never tried Miyoko's or So Delicious mozzarella, and now I want to! Haha. I absolutely love Violife, though. It melts really well and I like that it has such a mild flavor, because dairy mozzarella is mild, too. So far it's the only vegan mozzarella I actually like (new vegan, here). I have a hard time eating Follow your Heart or Daiya, because they are so sour/tangy and salty, kind of too much flavor. I totally agree about Parmela Creamery. It has such a funky taste to it, and doesn't melt well at all.
I tried follow your heart cheese at mellow mushroom and it was incredible on their Tempe sub. 😍 My first faux cheese experience after Daiya. Annie's vegan Mac and cheese are really really good as well.
I do miss my cheese the most. I agree that each store bought brand has their own winners and losers. No one brand of store bought Vegan cheese brings it across the board and each generally excel at one for sure. Great episode!
Trader Joe's vegan cheese shreds are MY FAV to use for pizza 🤩 I make pizzas from scratch and use the cheese thanks to my non vegan brother showing me the product! Now my whole fam is hooked on it 🌞
I used to dislike Daiya mozz on pizza, but then I tried it from Uno's. They do it right, and the secret is twofold: 1) don't use too much. Just a sprinkling. 2) put the cheese on top of the other ingredients, not below. If it's underneath, then it gets too moist and gloopy. If it's on top, it'll crisp up a bit and, oddly enough, become more stretchy and flavorful. As long as those two rules are followed, Daiya makes for the best pizza I ever had besides Miyokos.

Miyokos is great but expensive, follow your heart is good...violife is the best if you add homemade parm to it and the price point is perfect and their feta is off the chain fantastic!! Oh and I always use RAO"S!!!!

I tried nadamoo ice cream vanilla on pie for thanksgiving it’s not coconuttty at all. You should try making Italian things vegan. Like calzones and lasagna
I love the Violife cheddar slices, cheddar shreds, and Parmesan, but the mozzarella shreds were so awkward! I was surprised that an otherwise superior brand had this one “off” product. Even though the mozzarella shreds weren’t good, I like the cheddar shreds! So weird.
The Vegan View I really like it. I find it melts super creamy. Tbh tho, I haven’t tried the other brands. Would love to try Miyokos. Obsessed by her cultured butter. 🌱

@@TheVeganView I like it on the TJ's gf flat bread or added to Daiya pepperoni pizza. It melts really well, it's VERY sticky though. That's the only thing I don't love about it.

Kiandra Pierce I do 20 to 30 min! But it really depends on how cold/soft it is when you take it out of the fridge. You just want to make sure it’s super hard so that when you’re holding it and grating that it doesn’t get squishy in your hand 🤗
It's funny I've had really good eggplant parm and pizza with violife out but when I bought it to make my own I did not like it. Also the last time I bought Miyokos mozzarella I thought it was flavorless and needed more salt although I like the ingredients the best. A lot of low quality vegan cheese just tastes like kraft singles or the kind you get on shitty frozen pizza (Ellios) to me, so I always think people who like that "cheese food" type of cheese should like vegan cheese lol
Because we are very familiar with most of these cheeses -- we know what they look like when melted and we know what color they are, so we wanted to rate them strictly on taste while removing any biases we might have.
I feel like you guys rated these very highly... tbh maybe you’re more used to your vegan pallets... the only cheese I could eat is miyokos on pizzas. The others are gooey(like slime), taste too much like eating a spoon of butter, or are just gross. Miyokos 100%
