Yeah I don’t particularly support much of conservative politics but the guy was a hero in so many different ways. An actual war hero doubled as a legislative hero. Sort of heartwarming in a world of depressing and divisive news. V nice to hear about the specific and on-the-ground positive effects that had.

@Shylah YEP! In a nutshell: Card companies charge stores/retailers transactfees each somebody uses card - - stores/retailers have to recover that amount they paid by adding to the prices of their products/services - - retailers ALSO have to pay monthly fees for the card "swiper" terminal - - card companies/banks rack in 70-80 BILLION dollars each year - - the actual real cost of transactions (fees) is very much lower than what they charge and it keeps getting cheaper due to technology improvements. Ever see some gas stations offer cheaper gas prices if paying with cash? This is why! Glad you asked - most people are clueless - it's a very sneaky underhanded cash cow system for those who really do not earn it.....

Yoir joking right? A) McCain ran for years saying he would repeal Obamacare...then, when it’s finally time to make good on his word...he renews. Guy was trash. B)Obamacare is one of the worst things ever implemented into the healthcare system. It destroyed health coverage for years for people that pay into the system. It only serves low income individuals that have very little or no job. The health insurers are not stupid...to make up for being forced to cover everybody, now they double and triple deductibles and premiums of the people actually paying for health insurance. Disgusting fake politician.....looking forward when the rest of his cronies are voted out of office in 4 months and we get new blood to support the most American president in decades. Komfy Koala, Regardless of the “reformed” bill, it would have cut the budget, putting millions of debilitated Americans out of healthcare. There’s no excuse for that, they are the constituents of every senator, state representative, and presidential figure. How about cutting the funding for the White House lawyers, and using those millions of said dollars to fund healthcare? As long as it doesn’t affect him, he doesn’t care, and neither do his minions like pence that we’re sent to pressure McCain to vote yes for the “reformed” bill. The guy knew his time was short because of his cancer diagnosis and refused to follow through with another bill and refused to be subject to internal pressure from his party, and actually kept millions of Americans from a myriad of horrible situations, including death and debt. He put his constituents over his party, and that speaks for his character.

Some folks have already mentioned it here, but it's so worth driving home.
4 years ago, when everything was going well, a republican congress attempted to scrap the ACA with no plan in place. If they had succeeded, we would be in the middle of a pandemic with a healthcare system in total disarray instead of partial disarray.
No one, not even McCain, could see 2020 coming back then. But to the last, even with terminal brain cancer, McCain served his country. Make no mistake, McCain had no love for the ACA. But he refused to scrap it without a replacement, and he knew his party members either would not or could not replace it. So one final time, when it mattered most, he voted as a responsible citizen and not a lackey. If McCain had a "fault" as a politician, it was that he cared more about people than winning records and imposing party will. Well done sir, and thank you for all your forms of service.

@@daveenyart the premise of the statement is that he didn’t choose country over party, but rather his whims over his integrity. He had campaigned on repealing this very law just months earlier to win reelection, big TV ads touting that, “John McCain is leading the fight to repeal Obamacare.” Yet, when the vote came, he did this. He was like any pol - would tell people what they wanted to hear to get elected, and then turn around and do whatever he felt, disregarding what he’d tell voters. His decision was definitely contra-party, and whether it was pro-country or not is a fine opinion to have. I’m not sure this wasn’t just one last move to make sure people knew before he died that he would always be his own man. I view it as selfish... even running at such an age and health condition. Knowing he was going home to live his final days, he refused to even resign, allowing his state to appoint somebody to represent the people in his place.

Saving healthcare for millions is not a few. It's about time we had universal healthcare in this country. It's really a travesty that we're suppsed to be the leading first world country in the world hut we don't even have universal healthcare. The problem is not the fact that it's universal, it's the fact that it's so expensive in the first place. And that is the fault of insurance companies and pharmaceuticals wanting to make a profit off of people's sicknesses. The Republican bill that McCain essentially killed wasn't gonna fix that. Instead it was going to make things worse. That's why he did what he did.

@Evan S Okay you're out of your mind. John McCain was a man of integrity and a hero. He saved millions of peoples insurances and a lot of lives here. Go sit in your corner and cry for a bit about Trump being underwater in the upcoming election and leave us reasonable people alone
In fact, i've made a quick overview of just how badly Trump is doing right now:
Joe Biden is up in all of these states that went to Trump in 2016, in order of margin: Michigan (+8.1), Wisconsin (+7.1), Pennsylvania (+6.6), Florida (+6.0), Arizona (+3.9), North Carolina (+2.0), Texas (+0.6)
These states amount to a total of a total of 139 electoral votes. Biden could carry the election with just the +5 states, and even without carrying 1 random state of these 4. He's even up in Texas, which is big enough to flip the entire election on its own.
But it gets worse, so don't waste all of your tissues yet.
Because of Trumps horrible performance, the chances of republicans retaking the house is practically 0. Fortunately, the senate is still out, amiright? wrong.
The odds are in favor of the democrats again.
So, what if the democrats take the house, the senate and the presidency?
Joe Biden has said in the democratic primary debates that he wants to BUILD ON OBAMACARE! So that guy John McCain that you hated so much, just saved a bill that is going to get bigger and bigger over the next four years.

That vote by the great senator McCain was a vote showing love of country over party and consideration for the American people! The USA senate has lost a legend!

@@axelcarlson9837 The word SLAVERY didn’t appear in the constitution until the 13th amendment. Just because the word isn’t used does not mean it’s not apart of the constitution or how the USA is governed.
