  • Today we spend the day traveling a short distance away from Pattaya to answer a couple questions of where can we go and what kind of deals can we find. We stop and kick some tires along the way and look at some great resorts along the sea, each with a different flare and personality. Enjoy The Ride!

    KUDOS for another GREAT SHARE and video! Yep, you and I both remember the MG Sports cars.... had an MGB, loved it as it was low and wide... I am with you though, for $20K a NEW Diesel pickup to haul your bike(s) would be great, and especially if made locally.... too bad we can't get the smaller diesel pickups in US, with an manual transmission! GReat resorts too! All the BEST to both of you, and thank you again! Cheers :)

      Right on! Yeah, the other funny thing here is that Isuzu trucks are about the most expensive in the market. I remember in the 80's they sold Isuzu trucks in the US and they were the cheapest of the cheap back then. Now they only sell medium duty larger trucks in the US I believe but with small Diesel engines.

    Thanks Lucas….. my friend had a Triumph Spitfire in the 70s, that we ran around in in Daytona. I don’t know about the quality and service availability of the MG or the Colorado here in Thailand with Chevy pulling out . I have a 2015 Colorado , Deisel 2.6, four door and have had no issues. Like as much room as I can get… 6’ 1”.. and you probably know this, that everything moves forward when carrying heavy loads in the back of a pick up. So, with a good set of tie downs, it’s not a problem running with the tailgate down. Of course, another option is to buy a trailer. They really come in handy on trips allowing more cargo options and much easier to load/unload the bike. Just some thoughts. Thanks

    I've owned 5 Pick-ups in my life time, all Toyota, I keep them for 10 years and then get another one. Things to look for in a truck, Tie downs for the back, turning radius, Ground clearance. Horse power, Power steering, The pick-up I have now has quad cabe 4 door. Big truck. The turning radius is not so good but acceptable, You can't have everything. Toyota's have a great driving life I'm not sure about the MG???? I didn't get a very good look at the bed of the truck, but I didn't see any tie downs??? If you going to haul your Motorcycle around you defiantly need them. If it's a diesel engine it should have a low end power range, good, you're not going 80 miles an hour down the road. Changing Oil is a must, I change mine every 3000 miles. I don't care what they say about the oil, it still gets dirty. I have 170,000, 00 miles on my truck. Still going strong. For the price that a great deal, Just hope it lasts.

    I had an MG Midget when I was in high school in the early 70s. I'd drive it during the week and tinker with it on the weekend. I still maintain George Lucas was the man who invented darkness--it's hard to imagine worse electrics. :-) That said, I loved that car, and later compounded my pain by buying a Triumph Spitfire. Another source of neverending maintenance, but great fun to drive. The current MGs are a sold name badge to give some name recognition to a new Chinese discount automobile. If you like the truck, it's up to you, but remember, the only relationship the new ones have to the old ones is that chrome MG badge.

    • @GarNelson1
      @GarNelson1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Personally, I would not buy one, even though the outsides look good, and the chrome name badge does have some appeal to good memories. I know Toyotas are a bit more expensive, and Toyota does not do 'cutting edge'. Toyota's specialty is 'last forever with minimal routine maintenance'. I bought one of those four door HiLux "Isaan Specials" just before I left Pattaya and moved to Isaan. I've ordered and am waiting for a Corolla hybrid. I'm in my mid-60s and I'll probably crap out before either of those two vehicles.

    How about a Suzuki Carry? or a Isuzu type vehicle? you can get a semi-half cover over the back with opposing bench seating and easily load 2 motorcycles in the bed.... I've heard that they are really dependable and economical?
    The Suzuki is like $10,000.00 and the Isuzu is $14,,000.00? plus you will blend in low-key ha ha

    My GF has a 2010 Chevy Aveo CNG/Gas hybrid 1.6L. And boy does it save money. There's just enough stations every 100km and cost 160 baht or so to refill, that last us about 5 days of typical around town driving and one RT 40km trip a week. We only use the gas to start it, or if we run out of the CNG. I would like to buy an early model car or truck like it. But if it's not OEM, I'm not sure how it can be insured,. I would prefer a CNG SUV than another Chevy, but I'm still open to another Chevy.

    Talk about warranty on these vehicles. To me just getting a 3 year 60, 000 mile warranty doesn't cut it any more. The electronic in new car means the average tech can no longer service these vehicles and the dealership are the anyone's. That have the ability to work on them. Expensive when a car is out of warranty.

    MG trucks are rebranded Chevrolet truck, with chinese quality. Please be aware they have problems and weak after service. Parts take long to arrive. I live in Chiang Mai and looked at them, and bought finally a 4-door Toyota Hilux Rocco. Better quality, after service and much more worth when reselling. Isuzu really the same, high service, good reselling price. But not the 4 door ones from Isuzu. Secondhand these are not popular.
