I used to make this cake every Easter. My son was born on Easter Sunday and his birthday fell on Easter a couple of times when he was little. Memories 😊
I’ve been making this cake since 1978! My kids and grandkids still ask me to make it to this day. I have always let them decorate the bow tie. We have had some crazy looking bow ties😃
Moma Sue I want to try one now for my grands this weekend.I use to make cakes like that in the 80s also my favorite was a pig I was trying to remember how I made it.8m excited to to the bunny now thank you so much . 🐰❤
Wonderful to see this cake again. My mom use to make this for me on my birthday. Just a tip when you frost on the cut part of the cake if it crumbles just refrigerate the cake first and it will help to keep it from falling apart while frosting . Bless you!
Oh my goodness! That is the cutest thing! Mason will love it. When you said you tried to make icing roses it reminded me of when I did the same thing. My roses looked like cabbages. I finally had to quit taking the cake decorating class because my husband and I were eating way too much cake when we ate my mistakes.😀
Before the internet there were small little cookbooks, they were like a 5x7 size, you could buy in the grocery store. The title was Cut up Cakes. And I believe they had the bunny cake in it and all other types of birthday cakes that you could cut up and frost like this. That was our Pinterest!
I remember these cakes! Putting some frosting under those cake pieces, will prevent them from moving around as you frost them. Love your videos Mama Sue!
My mama made these for us and I made for my kids. The icing was hard to spread for you. I bet it would be good with whipped topping like Cool Whip too.
I remember this cake from my childhood and I’m 62 years old! My mom said Bakers coconut put out the directions back in the day. Now I think I will make one for my sweet little granddaughter. A blessed Resurrection Day to you Sue! Love your channel! ❤
Sent my 55 year old son a screen shot of this to see if he remembered when I made this cake for him. He did!!! Thanks for the walk down memory lane! Your bunny looks great! Happy Easter!
I learned to decorate cakes from my Aunt who was a beautiful cake artist. The one thing I never could make to look anything like it should was a rose! And yes, it is called a rose nail. I learned back in the early 70s, used her Disney character pans & sold many cakes in my early teens. You can dress up any cake with all sorts of candy & chips. If you want to spell names or such with candy use a toothpick to make a guide for the letters first & if you don't like it spread the frosting back over & redo it! When my kids were young I created all sorts of cakes for them. When doing a cake for a baby shower once I used diaper pins, rattles and even a pair of booties. It is fun to experiment while decorating. A good tip I learned was if you wrap your cakes & freeze them before decorating you have no trouble getting crumbs in your frosting. Mama Sue, your 'bunny' looks great & I have no doubt Mason absolutely loved it! Have a blessed Easter weekend!
I grew up in a very traditional Italian family. And everything was made from Scratch! No Boxes or Coolwhip, etc. So..I'm learning new Ways things are made.
I just need to tell you this. I enjoy your videos sooo much. I’m a lot older than you but watching you cook and bake with love is comforting for me. I live in Calif and have a lovely family including 4 delightful grandchildren and I truly wish you were my neighbor. I’ve tried your recipes and they have been great. Thanks so much for sharing your time, knowledge and warmth. Keep spreading your joy!!!
