I remember when I worked in John Browns Shipyard in Clydebank every Rangers supporter had heard of him when he was playing at Clydebank and he was coming to Ibrox the place was buzzing and the rest was History he was a pure genius with that left foot one of the finest I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen some special players over my 70 years.🙌🙌🙌🙌✊

I can remember my dad taking me to the games when I was a kid and unfortunately Davie did not always play in great Rangers teams, but there was nothing more exciting than watching him when he was on his game terrorising defences. That was before blanket TV coverage, he would have a far higher profile outside of Scotland if he was playing today.

Davie Cooper was a genuine talent, his left peg was a gift.
Ruud Gullitt once said about Davie, "He's the best player i ever watched."
25 years since Davie passed away...it feels like yesterday i was watching him play.
Rest easy in the big Ibrox in the sky.

A REAL legend. So many great memories. The Dryborough Cup goal against Celtic , THAT free kick against Aberdeen and his performance in the 1981 cup final replay against Dundee Utd to name just three. A Great Ranger.

Best player I've seen in a Motherwell jersey, was lucky to see him live

can be argued he was a better player at motherwell than he was at rangers. Maybe not pace-wise but skill and intelligence wise there's a strong argument. He was also playing with lesser players at Motherwell, and he inspired many of them.
Likes of Tom Boyd I don't think would have had the success of a career that he had if it weren't for Davie Cooper helping with his attacking play on the left flank.
Phil O'Donnell too (another sadly taken too young) progressed leaps and bounds as a youngster alongside Cooper.
Luc Nijholt himself has said he felt alot more confident in his all round game when Cooper was on the pitch beside him.

As a Hibs fan, just want to say Davie Cooper was one of the best players I have ever seen. Wish this country could produce another like him.

sadly too many wingers in Scotland these days are robots and more runners rather than proper footballers with skill and imagination. Davie had skill and imagination in abundance.

Loved watching Davie Cooper he was a fantastic player and played even better when Souness arrived, yes he was allowed to leave too soon but his service to the club was something to do with that just like Sandy Jardine was allowed to leave with still bags of football left in him, two special players whose place in Rangers history will never fade.

I find it incredibly sad that the Davie Cooper statue is in some bit of spare ground behind an ASDA. It should be in the centre of Hamilton where it can be seen by all.

Hard to believe that a player with such ability only won 22 caps for Scotland. Could argue he was technically better on the ball than even kenny Dalglish. Kenny’s biggest asset was his brain, he wasn’t technically the best ever player, with Davie Cooper his ability to control and move the ball on that left foot better than most can do with both feet up there with best of them.
