I've never seen my father cry. He has an impressive vinyl collection and every single or album from Abba ever released.
Now, watching the video, he cried tears of joy. I am the son, 23 years old, and I see my father, an absolutely tough bone, crying. Abba is more than music ... they make a lot of people happy. And I deeply regret anyone who is not an Abba fan. A world without Abba is a dead world.

ABBA members are all in their 70's now. It's hard to explain how popular and loved abba were in the 1970's and suddenly they were gone. ABBA fans (me) have waited 40 years for the unbelievable to happen. An ABBA return, and BOOM what a return...blessings from Australia.

Their music never left us, their memories never left us, we just were led to believe this would never happen. 65 million people have seen the stage show Mamma Mia, but we needed more....... WOW! Did we ever get what we wanted, they are going to hit the stratosphere when the album lands, and then the concerts, but ABBA can sit back and relax, they've earned it.

The fact that you guys didn't pick up on the "ABBAtars" is testament to how good ILM (who did the performance capture) is. It is, however, the actual 70-something ABBA members doing the performance capture and providing the voices/music so it is, in a very real way, them. The ABBAtars will perform at ABBA's new concert venue under construction in London. They will be giving a full 22-song performance starting next year.

Don't you feel that computer produced imagery while technically superb. Lack the heart and soul and emotional impact of the real artist communicating with an audience
It's absolutely crazy and is just a method to please the fans make even more money and none of the band who are the wrong side of 70 .don't have to put themselves through the whole endeavour every night ....I expect they don't much like live performances as they never really did that many in their career so .good for them the whole abba thing is a big business .which I respect I wouldn't pay to see my artist in ant environment unless it was really them .
Even tribute abba bands some of whom are outstanding ..come out as real people .

I doubt they’re doing anything for money at this point. They have plenty. I think they just love music. And maybe they’re tired and don’t feel like dealing with the physical trauma of touring. As a fan I’d rather give them the benefit of the doubt rather than criticize, and just be happy to hear new music from them.

ABBA got their big break winning the Eurovision song contest, and went on to become a global success. They where the first group to make it big after Eurovision and released the giant hits such as dancing queen, take a chance on me etc. The band consisted of two couples, who married (and subsequently divorced) whilst in the group and the music they made is another class. Written and produced by them, they where ahead of the times and are one of the greatest bands to ever exist

A couple of things that may answer your questions about this song. The word you were looking for was nostalgic. The song as about them looking back and questioning if the can still do it after all these years. Looking at what they created back in the day. They were massive. They hadn’t released anything new in almost 40 years. This tells the story of their reunification as a group. The joy and the sorrow as they sing is about the highs and lows of their times back in the 70s and 80s. Their divorces from each other when their marriages broke down. They realise they are and always will be great when together. That is when they shine. ‘I realise this is who we are’ The line of ‘we stand on a summit, humble and grateful to have survived’ is a nod to their millions of fans who have kept them alive and their music relevant. The reason they have not changed is because the second part of the clip they were Avatars or as they call them ABBAtars.

    @eduardooscar309 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Until now two new ABBA songs have been known, both different in their themes and leading voices And both have the ABBA trademark on their solvency in musical composition and production
We know the great spirit of perfection that Björn and Benny impress on their creations, and both new creatures live up to their great successes of the 80s.
So the biggest mystery was to know the state of the voices of Agnetha and Frida and how they could react to the inevitable passing of the decades and their possible comparisons with previous classics.
And I must also say that they both look very good
And in that "look" there is an extraordinary job of caring for Björn and Benny to "take care" of their historical singers, partners and former partners. They gave them two wonderful songs, with beautiful melodies and deep lyrics, but they were also surrounded by the iconic hooks and the appeal to emotional nostalgia
"I still have faith in You" is an unpublished song in its conception in the history of ABBA
because it is self-referential about them as a group,
and it is also testimonial, because they tell us about their experiences in all this time
Musically it is a ballad with mystical and epic
A stately and majestic piano, and Frida's soft voice conducts and recreates ABBA's story with poignant beauty,
with Agnetha joining in some verses to emphasize
The sound of the drums arrives (a nod to the mega hit "Fernando") as if preparing the change of rhythm
And with a powerful guitar comes that first unpublished chorus, because this time all ABBA sings from the bowels of its history and with the strength of its testimony of life, of healing and togetherness.
And in the second chorus, even stronger, it becomes very clear that ABBA sings with the passion and courage that Björn's excellent lyrics stand out, it is like a triumphant song of their survival and their bond.
And it ends with a solo by Frida, flawless, with the flutes at the end
Also isn't a commercial song (more than 5 minutes) it's so emotional, with a fantastic vídeo of all greatest memories of pictures, official videos of 70s songs and Australia tour
ABBA really comes back at high level
    The world needs ABBA sound

    🧡 ABBA !
WELCOME BACK ! WELCOME HOME !
This may well be ABBA's new anthem, and it's PLATINUM. Four days into release it topped #9 on the U.S. charts. It's sure to reach #1.
Thank you both for the reaction. However, not being ABBA fans, not tuned to the basis of the lyrics, is understandable. As a member of the original generation who helped propel ABBA to global stardom, this is monumental. When ABBA left the stage in the early 80's to today, they were hounded to return, that the magic was still there - even though they doubted themselves. This is them giving in, cautious in their approach, wondering if the fans were right all along, and realizing the magic really is still alive. With a 10-track album being released in November, the ABBA dream lives on.
For the love of music, and ABBA - Peace.

The last part was all CGI. They hired ILM (Star Wars, Disney, and Marvel) to recreate their younger selves for a concert (digitally projected) in a new purpose build ABBA arena in London.

Anni-Frid (Frida) is the redhead and does the lead on the song. Agnetha, the blond does the lead on their other new song; "Don't Shut Me down". The guys are Björn and Benny.
No autotune because they can actually Sing unlike modern pop.

The lyrics are amazing. The music is superb. The tone is sentimental and honest, reflective and melencholic whilst also being optimistic. One of the greatest things about Abba was (is) their complete lack of pretentiousness. They have aged and done so naturally. There is no cosmetic surgery here and no digital auto tuning of voices. It's not patriotic, but it is majestic. It isn't Disneyfied, but it does have a musical theatre sound to it. Of course your cultural references are a product of your time, and so these references that you make are just part of your upbringing. Animated cartoon soundtrack? I don't think so but it is about humanity and a post Trumpian world. Abbatars don't age, and this was what you saw at the end.

If you knew ABBA's history....They were two married couples and both marriages failed, ultimately culminating in the band quitting. Benny and Bjorn have written a number of Broadway/Soho musicals in the last few years but Agnetha and Ana-Frid (Frida) pretty much raided from view. Coming back now, ages 71 through 76, is likely their swan song and a huge Thank you to the fans, who never gave up on ABBA. I love the ABBAtars special at the end of the video.

    ABBA
You are so right about the pop CLICHES!
    They created the pop CLICHES!
That is the Joy of ABBA.
Impeccable singers and musician / songwriters. Redefined pop music by trying to copy it in the 70s.
They had a fairytale life. And a fall from the fairytale life.
To come back 40 years later. It had to be syrupy and formulaic just as they always were. 😎
Check out the old but I’m sure you’ll get it

The word you are looking for is probably just "nostalgic". However there is also a far more appropriate Japanese term: "Mono no aware" - literally "the pathos of things", and also translated as "an empathy toward things", or "a sensitivity to ephemera".
It means basically, the sad beauty of seeing time pass - the aching awareness of impermanence. These are the days that we will return to, one day in the future, only in memories.
It is the ephemeral nature of beauty - the quietly elated, bittersweet feeling of having been witness to the dazzling circus of life - knowing that none of it can last. It’s basically about being both saddened and appreciative of transience - and also about the relationship between life and death. In Japan, there are four very distinct seasons, and you really become aware of life and mortality and transience. You become aware of how significant those moments are.
