And just to add insult to injury, it'll be terra type Fire.
I wish they would, that would actually get me hyped up for these raids. But IIRC, every starter but Serperior and Emboar are gonna be in game from a leak. On top of this, Serperior is my favorite Pokemon, so if not...

Assuming Serperior the Unrivaled will have at least the build I hypothesized, Serperior will be hitting Walking Wake every turn for at least neutral damage with a 130 power move that comes with a free Nasty Plot stapled to it; make that super effective damage if Wake's tera type is still Water. And that still wouldn't solve the issue that Leaf Storm + Contrary + raid Pokemon having seemingly unlimited PP = a Serperior with 300% special attack in as few as three turns, hitting with that damage on the fourth. Waking Wake doesn't have anything like Entertainment or Gastro Acid to get rid of Contrary, or Clear Smog to get rid of/keep its stat boosts down. It _might_ be able to hit a tera type fire Serperior the Unrivaled okay, but without support Pokemon in the raid party who know moves like the two categories I just mentioned, you'll be feeding as hard as every run-of-the-mil moron in 6-Star Annihilape raids, and all those tuckfards bringing Meowscarade to the Iron Leaves raid. It's like you kids don't even know how to tera raid.
I was accepting of the idea that having all Pokémon in each subsequent game would start to become tedious to add, but then they’d have to take turns, and considering the backlash the Charmander line is getting when it’s in SV and the other Kanto starters aren’t, you notice the favoritism for some, which isn’t fair to the others.
Yeah I agree I was okay with dex it because in all honesty how many people generally really care about having every Pokémon in one game especially with adding more each gen. However I do feel the favoritism, even lucario has been in every generation sense it’s release.
And here's the thing. GF Also forsaw this so starting with Gen 6 and continuing with Gen 7, 8 and 9. They future proof all their models. It's why the lag in Gen 6 and 7 was so AWFUL. These models were made to look good on consoles 2 or 3 generations in the future. About 20 odd years. And the animations are also there as well. And GF has been uses these models, it's been proven. Game freak is just hungry for money.

It really do be like that. Gamefreak is basically being held at gunpoint to release this shit as fast as possible. Game development is so much harder than anyone realizes, espeically when you working under the pressure of like 4 or 5 different companies all at once. I just wish that they would get more time to work on this stuff. Hell, I honestly think the anime and stuff should come out first to build hype for the games instead of being all at once.

Zelda, years and years to get the games just right, even when it's building on top of the last like TotK. Even Smash Bros. got extremely lenient for how easily they could've made it into a moneygrab. But no, once they figured out they could recycle the same models and animations for generations on end, GF squeezes the franchise dry for every drop with indie practices and quality because we all, they included, know they got a golden goose that'll never fail. Just look at the uptick in quality whenever *any* other company gets a shot at Pokémon. Don't pity GF, they _chose_ this status.
It more that they make way more money off of merchandise than everything else combined, like significantly over double almost triple. For longer than most fans want to admit the games and shows have always been at least in part advertisements and keeping things in public discourse is why we keep seeing things like Pokemon and Transformers when other very popular IP eventually disappear.

Nah man nah... Jinx. Shiftry. Makuhita. Gothita. Clauncher. Nowctowl. Skiploom. Staravia. Freakin' Shiinotic? Half of these names don't even sound like pokemon.
Pokemon don't individually have animations for each move. The moves themselves have a general positioning, special effects, and camera animation attached to them that the pokemon model slots into. The model itself just does one of its stock attack or roar animations along with the move animation to give it slightly more flair. This is why pokemon with hacked moves or moves they only learned in prior generations don't crash the game. The only moves that have distinct animations like that are unique signature moves that are only meant to be used by a single pokemon. Things like Behemoth Blade, Pyro Ball, or Flower Trick for example.
Even the unique signature moves aren’t animation locked. It just calls to that specific animation on that specific Pokémon. If a metronome Pokémon calls for Flower Trick, it’ll play the move’s animation alongside a standard animation for that Pokémon. If you think that it’d look wonky, well it does. It always has and has been that way since generation 6. A large majority of animations performed by the Pokémon (not the move effect) are actually imported from older games with most being identical to the generation 6 animations. Is it lazy? Yes. Understandably so, because that is a lot of animations that they’d have to redo or touch up. However, they started showing their age as the move to switch and semi open world design started playing out. It also begins to ring hollow that they stated the limited pokedex was due to animation concerns when they’re reusing assets anyway without touching them up and there are still a whole slew of non animation related problems in the games that don’t get a second pass even when the games come out and people talk about these problems. I and many others I’ve listened to have stated that Scarlet and Violet could have been the best Pokémon games, bar none, if it didn’t have glaring quality of life and general gameplay issues that never get resolved. Now credit where it’s due, Scarlet and Violet specifically does give us a lot of personality with some of the wild Pokémon animations. But it is inconsistent improvements and surrounded by a mass of other problems that boil down to them not being given enough time due to how the gaming industry as a whole is handled nowadays with Nintendo being among the most common worst offenders. My heart goes out to the animators, artists, and other regularly employed worker that gets placed into the crunch culture of the industry and will often receive the brunt of the blame if the polish doesn’t shine through.

That thing about man power. There's only about 50 devs at game freak, split between 3-5 games at a time. Nintendo has 250 working on 1-2 games at a time.

As for not having enough staff to make the games, well maybe if you borrowed some manpower from Nintendo or learned from them you could do better than making well-polished Gamecube games.
I always liked the idea that in game it’s for wildlife conservation reasons, similar to why Australia has restrictions on cats and rabbits instead of the obvious reason of making players care about and actually use the new characters they made

Game Freak continues to insist on not hiring additional staff, and on not outsourcing to previous partners like Genius Sonority despite having the resources to do both. And the Pokemon roster isn't the _only_ thing being sacrificed as a result. "...to redesign..." ...not generally necessary. Creatures Inc. exists _solely_ for the purposes of archiving cinematic-quality 3D models of Pokemon and other characters (Donkey Kong is a notable non-Pokemon character archived by Creatures Inc.). These models can then be downscaled to whatever a particular game needs. "...code..." Pokemon games have used more or less the same data format for Pokemon, barring a few bugfixes, since Gen 3. And the VC versions of the Gen 1 and 2 games show that the previous data format was close enough that a one-way conversion from gen 1/2 to gen 3+ is doable. Needless to say, apart from deciding on a Pokemon's stats, movelist and evolution requirements, most of this is copying and pasting. "...and animate all those Pokemon." I mean, this would be valid if 90% of the animations weren't just simply taking the Pokemon in its idle loop or default attack animation and moving it around a bit. Besides, there's always the option of rigging similar-shaped Pokemon to the same skeletons and just copying the same basic animations to them if you have to cut corners. And before anyone says "you've obviously never developed a game before", while I've never released anything I actually have dabbled a bit in game development, and I guarantee that's more than 99% of the people who were probably thinking of saying that have done. "SEGA can't even keep their own blue rat alive" And yet the last time Nintendo partnered with SEGA (that being F-Zero GX), SEGA made fools of Nintendo. It's kinda hilarious how SEGA is better at developing Nintendo games than either Nintendo is at developing Nintendo games or SEGA is at developing SEGA games. Yes, I know that F-Zero GX sold poorly. What people forget is that _SO DID THE GAMECUBE ITSELF._ Proportionate to the Gamecube's sales, F-Zero GX's sales were actually par for the course for a Sci-Fi racing game, it's just that not enough people bought Gamecubes in the first place because despite its technical capabilities it lacked the consumer features that were present in other consoles, that being a built-in DVD player for the PS2 and built-in networking capabilities for the XBOX (the Gamecube had networking capabilities but it required a peripheral and only two games actually even used them, that being Mario Kart Double Dash!! and Phantasy Star Online). "The moment some new hire screws up, it's going to be a PR nightmare" Oh, and it's not when Game Freak's existing staff screws up? XD "People can't remember most old Pokemon anyway" While this is a flawed statement because it highly depends on the individual, it's actually a much better argument than ANY of the technical ones. "We can add anything we want and you guys would still hype for it" Yeah, the majority of Pokemon fans are simps, sadly.

I mean, truthfully, I remember quite a lot of Pokémon from all the gens without seeing their sprites. What I do find weird with me is the Pokémon that have two evolutions, I always seem to forget the name of the first evolution, when it wasn't a favourite of mine. And usually, if I then see a Pokémon's sprite, I tend to remember it. That's how I knew both Lumineon and Oricorio when the Trainer didn't. Subconsciously their names were in my head. It's how I also know the Oricorio in this vid is in fact a Fire/Flying-type Oricorio. So if Professor Oak chose me instead of that random Trainer to try and prove his point, his point would've been moot.
I really never understood Pokemon's excuse for NOT including every new Pokemon in the new games. They literally switched from sprites to 3D models in Gen VI as a means to future proof subsequent games so they COULD include all Pokemon.

While one could certainly dream about every Pokémon in SV, I found myself accepting even before SwSh announcements that it'll eventually reach a point of too many Pokémon. Either way, interesting way to get Serperior in, surely they will be another great friend for Flora.

I think the real reason is because of Zoroark's ability, you need to animate every Pokemon with the moves it can learn because of it.

Pokemon don't individually have animations for each move. The moves themselves have a general positioning, special effects, and camera animation attached to them that the pokemon model slots into. The model itself just does one of its stock attack or roar animations along with the move animation to give it slightly more flair. This is why pokemon with hacked moves or moves they only learned in prior generations don't crash the game.
The only moves that have distinct animations like that are unique signature moves that are only meant to be used by a single pokemon. Things like Behemoth Blade, Pyro Ball, or Flower Trick for example.
Even the unique signature moves aren’t animation locked. It just calls to that specific animation on that specific Pokémon. If a metronome Pokémon calls for Flower Trick, it’ll play the move’s animation alongside a standard animation for that Pokémon. If you think that it’d look wonky, well it does. It always has and has been that way since generation 6. A large majority of animations performed by the Pokémon (not the move effect) are actually imported from older games with most being identical to the generation 6 animations. Is it lazy? Yes. Understandably so, because that is a lot of animations that they’d have to redo or touch up. However, they started showing their age as the move to switch and semi open world design started playing out. It also begins to ring hollow that they stated the limited pokedex was due to animation concerns when they’re reusing assets anyway without touching them up and there are still a whole slew of non animation related problems in the games that don’t get a second pass even when the games come out and people talk about these problems. I and many others I’ve listened to have stated that Scarlet and Violet could have been the best Pokémon games, bar none, if it didn’t have glaring quality of life and general gameplay issues that never get resolved. Now credit where it’s due, Scarlet and Violet specifically does give us a lot of personality with some of the wild Pokémon animations. But it is inconsistent improvements and surrounded by a mass of other problems that boil down to them not being given enough time due to how the gaming industry as a whole is handled nowadays with Nintendo being among the most common worst offenders. My heart goes out to the animators, artists, and other regularly employed worker that gets placed into the crunch culture of the industry and will often receive the brunt of the blame if the polish doesn’t shine through.

Remembering the names of Pokemon isn't hard, at least not for us who grew up singing the Poke-Rap. Heck, I still remember my very first starter and the game it was: My Totodile from Gold and I still have a red GBA-SP with the Gold Cartridge sitting on my shelf above my computer.
As for not having enough staff to make the games, well maybe if you borrowed some manpower from Nintendo or learned from them you could do better than making well-polished Gamecube games.

Pokemon games have used more or less the same data format for Pokemon, barring a few bugfixes, since Gen 3. And the VC versions of the Gen 1 and 2 games show that the previous data format was close enough that a one-way conversion from gen 1/2 to gen 3+ is doable. Needless to say, apart from deciding on a Pokemon's stats, movelist and evolution requirements, most of this is copying and pasting.

I mean, this would be valid if 90% of the animations weren't just simply taking the Pokemon in its idle loop or default attack animation and moving it around a bit. Besides, there's always the option of rigging similar-shaped Pokemon to the same skeletons and just copying the same basic animations to them if you have to cut corners.
And before anyone says "you've obviously never developed a game before", while I've never released anything I actually have dabbled a bit in game development, and I guarantee that's more than 99% of the people who were probably thinking of saying that have done.

What people forget is that _SO DID THE GAMECUBE ITSELF._ Proportionate to the Gamecube's sales, F-Zero GX's sales were actually par for the course for a Sci-Fi racing game, it's just that not enough people bought Gamecubes in the first place because despite its technical capabilities it lacked the consumer features that were present in other consoles, that being a built-in DVD player for the PS2 and built-in networking capabilities for the XBOX (the Gamecube had networking capabilities but it required a peripheral and only two games actually even used them, that being Mario Kart Double Dash!! and Phantasy Star Online).

I mean, truthfully, I remember quite a lot of Pokémon from all the gens without seeing their sprites. What I do find weird with me is the Pokémon that have two evolutions, I always seem to forget the name of the first evolution, when it wasn't a favourite of mine. And usually, if I then see a Pokémon's sprite, I tend to remember it. That's how I knew both Lumineon and Oricorio when the Trainer didn't. Subconsciously their names were in my head. It's how I also know the Oricorio in this vid is in fact a Fire/Flying-type Oricorio. So if Professor Oak chose me instead of that random Trainer to try and prove his point, his point would've been moot.

I really never understood Pokemon's excuse for NOT including every new Pokemon in the new games. They literally switched from sprites to 3D models in Gen VI as a means to future proof subsequent games so they COULD include all Pokemon.

I mean, Gamefreak's only got like 140-160 employees and they've been crunched to release a game asap ever since, ironically enough, the very beginning of the franchise (release dates are always 1-3 years of difference, which isn't a lot of time).
So these employees ain't got time to deal with ungrateful fans AND greedy executives with not much interest in quality at the same time.
