- It's not even 1 day into the Tide Rises expansion and I can aready tell that the new ogroids archetype is going to be the meta for monsters in 11.7. After a couple hours of trying the new cards, this is what I found to be most consistent. In this video I talk about card selection, reasoning and strategy before playing 5 games for reference. Although this deck puts out a LOT of points, it's vulnerable to tall punish.

To be honest it's also nice the non commented videos from time to time, it allows you to think more clearly and compare with your moves.
I'm using the Renfri + Triss : Meteor Shower version of this deck.
It's so versatile yet powerful deck.
Can't kill the giant? They'll rise stronger with Triss.

I am a simple man. I see high points Monsters I like.
I really love this new archetype, especially cause you can play it in different ways. I play it with less ogroids and more control (HW, Wolfsbane and teshem) and an aggresive first round to build up might for the Armor of Riptide. Round three i finish with Riptide and Iris:Shade. Played 13-6 with it and only ever lost to Cultists or Aristocrats🤷🏼♂️

I anticipate that the resilience play will likely be removed for control options at higher MMR but it was fun giving it a try.
I've been hoping for a dedicated ogroids archetype for years and we finally got it at the very end of the collection. When I saw the cards I thought they were cool, but I didn't think a pure point slam deck coul be good with the amount of control available nowdays, but damn! This deck is oppressive. It fits perfect in Monsters and its also very straightforward, which is great for newcomers.

I haven't played in 3 months. Made it to pro rank five or six times, I forget.. But I'm stoked for this. They made a lot of good changes. I've been trying to make a Skellige rain/storm focused deck work forever, and with these new cards - I think it's finally viable to a certain degree - it definitely is fun to play. Might not stay competitive in the higher ranks...maybe you could make it work better ;)

I like your take on the deck, I went more ogroid heavy with Chrum gettin 20 points. Ogroids feel pretty abusive, but they're fun to play

I loved your previous syndicate deck with the "spend to 0" goal, felt extremely consistent, sure its not as OP as symbiosis ST, but its the type of deck i love
Fun fact behind Chrum's name. In Polish it's the grunting sound that pigs make. ( pronounced more like "hroom" ).

Your ogroid deck is surely better than mine. Hoping youll do one with commentary too. Dunno still mammuna vs oneiromancy yet 🤔 Cyclops gives some decent control. That ng player spying and couping Chrum though, that wont happen too much after a few days 😂
And yeah, while pointslam decks are generally seen as a little brainless decks, with ogroids the timing of Riptide and Chrum and timing and placement of Tugo makes a HUGE difference

There is already a Renfri version of this deck that plays a 20 points King Chrum with resilience. The sheer incompetency of the devs when it comes to card interactions with each other never ceases to amaze me.
Reminds me of the Renfri beast deck with Flaminica leaning that much into the tag. The issue I find with Chrum is that you not only have to draw him early and set up might, but you also need to avoid Pellar and every other tall punish out there. I wonder if he’ll still see play when the patch settles.
@@Qcento In a vacuum the card is too situational to be consistently good (He is definitely not a Battle Stations! or Rompally, those two are insane in their decks) but it's a very annoying, win-more card. If you play it, and the opponent has no way to remove or purify it, then you pretty much won the next round (or even the one where you played it for 20) no matter what happens. It's just a crappy design, in my opinion.
@@Qcento Purify on 20 point unit for 14P is not the end of world, and I am quite sick to play/see heatwave during match, some neutrals are practically must have in decent deck nowadays.

I cant bealieve its been so long since your become a pro series that was welll over a year ago, to me it seems longer, how much the meta game has changed. I was interested in Gwent back then but now im invested. I really hope gwent continues past the devs exit from the game and perhaps they allow long time invested players to.... set the game in the right direction. the recent addidtion is awesome, lots of fun for everyone

I did a homebrew thrive ogroid deck and game never goes to round 3 even with 1 card less. Super pointslammy deck.

It’s a much better version with more ogroids. Meta version will pan out having Renfri and a 20+ point Chrum

I dont understand why Chrum not on 20 power which is quite often on rank 10-13
I opted not to stuff the deck with every ogroid in the game and rely too much on him. I wanted to include other win conditions.

its fun to play but gets wrecked by other decks, missing carddraw for consistentcy and also i have no tools to take out powerfull cards the opponents throws down.

I am not sure about this whole Mammuna idea with Piggy witches. Why not more ogroids? Its too hard to get both might and Sabbath in a short round.

I kind of like what I see, just people playing big creatures, there might be some "broken" new decks but its not as bad as when golden Nekker or Renfri were introduced to the game, those were really broken cards that ruined the game, after all the nerfs done they are still OP, so IMO this new patch its ok.
i think ogroids are pretty broken too , unless you are playing NG poison you can't catch up with em. And it is very annoying that deck requires no skill.

Difficult to say anything about that deck.... Your opponnents played awfuly. Every game I watched they did something more stupid than the previous one.... NG player had buhurt in hand and did not think it is a good idea to use it for might, deathwish guy used tome on second to last turn instead on the last giving you... And so on.
