- Join us on our day 2 adventure along the Smokey Mountain 1000. We ran into a road closure and had to skip a portion of it. This day 2 trip ends at Linville Falls area in NC where we could have camped, but we went home. Stay tuned for day 3 as we will continue the Smokey Mountain 1000 beginning after Linville Falls, which will head southwest past Asheville, NC and towards the NC/SC/GA border.

Did your Gladiator come with the rear sliding window? Was that OEM or aftermarket? Is it electric or manual?
Yes. It is OEM. It is manual sliding. I wish it was electric! I had a F-150 with the electric sliding window and I loved that.
What GPS app are you using? Great video btw!
Gaia GPS app. It’s free. However, to be able to download more maps and offline maps for when you have no cell service, it’s a yearly subscription. There are many map layers you can use. Many features. You can go search for trail gpx files and it’ll load the trail route right into the app. Go check out some TH-cam videos on it

What map app is that your using? Great content!
Gaia GPS app. It has many different map layers, such as satellite, the true forest service road/trail maps, overlanding maps, etc that you can use and even stack on top of each other. You can save locations, etc.

Hey Hey Fellow East TN peeps, so how do I pull a map of this trail with the campsites on it? I have looked everywhere
1st download the Gaia GPS app. Then, go to the “Smokeys Mountain 1000” Facebook group. Then, download/save the new version 9 gpx file from inside that group. Then load/import it into Gaia GPS app. You’ll have the whole route. It’ll show campgrounds. You’ll have to find all the dispersed free camp sites haha. They’re scattered all over it

@@Hippietrails1 I totally forgot. Go download iOverlander app too. You can see a map and go to wherever you want on it and see camp sites people have saved in there. They usually leave a description and some have pics. They have the GPS location that you can then enter into Gaia GPS and save it. We do this a lot to just know where possible camp sites are. You can filter what shows up on the map, like food or fast stations, etc. I just have it show camp sites
