Hi George howudoin I’m 50 And like many of us fell in love with John Bonham’s playing from a young age I was 14 I saw him as a God and in two years at 16 was playing in a Zeppelin family members cover band dad sang uncle Danny on base uncle Bobby on rhythm cousin Neil on lead guitar I can’t express in words how fortunate me and thousands of us are that you came along to share you’re great talent , knowledge ( technical breakdown ) and love for John Bonham no one has him down like you do You are at the level of Bonham playing that we all want to get to thank you ,thank you ,thank you George I’m so glad you’re here for us and helping us to study all the intricacies of Bonhams playing 👍
You played that perfectly! Thank you for clearing up some of the mysteries of how Bonham played that middle section, I had to watch it four times in a row!
Fantastic George! You are my inspiration to learn Bonham. I can’t Thank you and Terry enough for all the great tips and insight. Your knowledge of all the Bonham recordings live and studio is amazing! Thanks Brother!!!!
George, that was the absolute best cover I have ever heard on any Zep tune in my life and I think Bonzo would have a hard time duplicating that himself if he were still here that was just insane... Whole Lotta Love is much trickier and tougher than it sounds and any good drummer knows that and every time I see even top shelf famous drummers try to pull it off they never get those feels quite right in fact most are way off but you smoke them all dude! Paiste Bob
Your drum cover video is close to what I'm looking for very close, somewhere on @TH-cam back say 6 months ago they had a drummer who reproduced the original studio version from era kit, studio stuff etc.
Damn George you're literally Bonham with Jazz added man! Everything from the ghost notes to the gong taps. Ain't no one ever gonna be closer than this!
I feel that this an early example of a track that shows off Bonham's greatness...the simplicity of the beat along with the complexity of it's execution....very hard for us mortals to replicate it spot on...you do tho George,....brilliantly done sir!
Been searching internet and this is bonham whole lotta love spot on. There are slight.variations out there but this is correct in every way. Awesome. I'm getting there with a more practice. Bonhams drumming is so inspiring for me to learn . Great stuff
Great job Mr. Fludas! Your technique & feel with the Led Zeppelin songs is as close to that of John Bonham that I've ever seen! Again, great job!! Would also like to thank both you & Terry Keating for your knowledge of John Bonham.... I've been a huge John Bonham (Led Zeppelin) fan for 40 plus years!
This guy gets the NUANCES of Bonham so much better than all the jerkoffs who think it's just about having a giant ludwig kick drum and playing as hard as you can. Better than anyone I've seen on youtube really.
Incredible job. During the main riff, I Loved watching your technique getting the grace note “ands” of each down beat. That’s such an important part of Bonham’s play & sound.
Yes, very much so. It adds that breathy quality that's so integral to his sound and feel. You can't always hear it in the track, but you can feel it, and it's always there. Isolated tracks make it very clear. Like Ramble On, What Is.
BONZOLOGY with Terry & George Very very well said. Yes, agreed. It’s everywhere in his play. It keeps things connected, the glue, in between accents. I friggin love this stuff. That’s one of the techniques I’m trying to incorporate into my play. I never understood this, till about 3 years ago. Despite, playing for so long. I guess I kind of plateau’d in my 20s thinking I was good enough. When I hit my 40s, something changed in my comprehension of drumming. Man, if I’d discovered Bonham back then? Thank you for your great reply. Keep it up.
BONZOLOGY with Terry & George I like that you said, “you can’t always hear it, but you can feel it”. That’s a great quote, one that I’ll use a lot and always cite the source. 😉
So that's how he did it!!! So in the interlude section he was hitting the lower stick that's planted on the drum head! I always thought it was a recording treatment - such was Page's penchant for them. Btw that is an awesome sounding kit. And as for those cymbals....:-)
Thanks Matt. Yeah, I noticed it more clearly on the isolated track. I used to think he was doing a rim chop type thing, but you can hear it's cross stick on the toms.
I just watched a bigger-budget drum cover of this song on another channel, with great sound and video but I had to abandon ship as he was obviously winging the fills and kind of following the recording. This is a more DIY production but, my goodness, the feel is great, the fills are all there, and you even include the little ghost note triplets on those guitar solo stomps. Excellent work!
Hey George, the way you tune your drums is closer to Bonham than anyone I've ever heard, I would love to see a video on how you tune your bass drum in particular.
Thanks. It's really just the standard theory....front head right, batter medium - ish, felt strip across the back head only. I also put shredded newspaper in the bottom of the kick...but didn't always do that. A lot has to do with how you kick the drum and produce the sound.
I really appreciate that you toned down the backing track so we could hear what YOU are doing. Is it 100% or not... a lot easier to tell when it isnt basically a lip sync track.
Great stuff indeed George . Really nice playing . And exactly how JB played on the recording . May I ask how long it took you to learn this piece . Did you use the isolated drums that are up on You tube to get the nuances , its pretty impossible to hear every thing he played on the original recording . Say you did , make me feel better . Just read the description ...i feel better . Great work none the less . Kudos
I know I’m late to this but very good job. I’m not a drummer so forgive the dumb question. Keeping 4/4 time with the bass drum is pretty easy but how hard is it with those different beats?
You made those drums sound so close to the real thing. The sound you got from that kit plus your own Exquisite knowledge.
Really appreciate that, thanks.
#scrumches !!
Great feel.
Great job.
That's the way Bonham did it.
3:50 is one of the simplest yet best drum fills of all time.
Single strokes only 😅
Unbelievable! You really are the Gold Standard of Bonham drumming.
Hi George howudoin I’m 50 And like many of us fell in love with John Bonham’s playing from a young age I was 14 I saw him as a God and in two years at 16 was playing in a Zeppelin family members cover band dad sang uncle Danny on base uncle Bobby on rhythm cousin Neil on lead guitar I can’t express in words how fortunate me and thousands of us are that you came along to share you’re great talent , knowledge ( technical breakdown ) and love for John Bonham no one has him down like you do

Fantastic cover thanks
You played that perfectly! Thank you for clearing up some of the mysteries of how Bonham played that middle section, I had to watch it four times in a row!
Thank you!
Thank you so much for showing us the endless depths of J.Bonham's groove.
Thank you, yes...endless depths is a great way to describe it!
Goddamn. Very well done George, you deserve way more recognition
Thank you, I appreciate it
The drum parts to these songs are as important as the lyrics and we all know them. Thanks George, nice work as usual.
Agreed! Thanks.
Fantastic George!
You are my inspiration to learn Bonham. I can’t Thank you and Terry enough for all the great tips and insight. Your knowledge of all the Bonham recordings live and studio is amazing! Thanks Brother!!!!
This is amazing, can't believe you were able to remember the whole middle part. Good work!
Thank you, I had to listen to that a bunch of times ....it's very close but almost impossible to nail. It's so spontaneous and in and out of time.
The love of music I totally get it growing up on Zeppelin and AEROSMITH 🤘
3:00 I just love that lead.. so nasty, smooth and funky
Awesome cover. I love the fills in this song, especially at the 4:00 and beyond
George, that was the absolute best cover I have ever heard on any Zep tune in my life and I think Bonzo would have a hard time duplicating that himself if he were still here that was just insane... Bravooooo!
AMAZING!

Damn George you're literally Bonham with Jazz added man! Everything from the ghost notes to the gong taps. Ain't no one ever gonna be closer than this!
Bonham was influenced by jazz tho
You da man George thankyou
Thanks a million George, my first Zep song in Germany in the US Army, been hooked ever since. Glad you and Terry have the time to teach Bonzo.
Thanks!
I never got to see Bonzo live, but this is probably as close as you can get. Outstanding!
I feel that this an early example of a track that shows off Bonham's greatness...the simplicity of the beat along with the complexity of it's execution....very hard for us mortals to replicate it spot on...you do tho George,....brilliantly done sir!
Very well said! It's deceptively simple, but loaded with finesse and groove. Thank you , David.
Thank you for the kind words...and you both carry the flame that is John Henry Bonham to us all very nicely indeed!!
So well done dude sounds just like John
Thank you, Steve
Amazing!!! The best cover of this song I've even seen!!!
George make it look very simple awesome!
Jesus !! You absolutely nail the damm song !! Your awesome dude!!
Great tuning of the drums. They sounds amazing. Nice job!
an amazing performance!!!

Fantastic playing George, great stuff! Love the ghost notes and the bass drum, nice work as usual!
Thank you David! 🙏🏼

Much appreciated. That is why I started this channel. I felt there was a lot of poor to mediocre demos of Bonzo's style and drum parts.
3:58 I really love that fill even though it's not like mind blowing it's always caught me ear
Another amazing performance! Thank you.

Nice! I play by feel and wing it. Usually pull off the sound, but you are nailing it perfectly!

One of the hard things here is not using the hi-hat pedal flat footed for me. That kit gotta whole lotta love too!
Muy bueno y me re ayudo ...ya que lo estoy practicando.....Saludos desde Rosario Argentina
Muchas gracias!
EXELENT MR.. BONZO

George-it's smokin'. Tremendous job!!!! Cymbals there the 15" GBs, 18" 602, 20" 602 Concert and the 24" 602?
Yessir , correcto! Notice the gong taps during the theremin section. 😉
@@BONHAMOLOGY That was a gong he was tapping?? Wow.
excelente 👌
Chapeau , Mr. Fludas ! Bonzo’s drumming was an orchestration in , and of , itself , don’t you think ?
Thanks !
Absolutely true! Thanks as always for your kind words.
great
I think its time George got a 70s stainless steel kit🤟😜
Great job.....I’d love to hear that through Superior Drummer 3.........
0:51...Does Plant yell "Cowabunga" as it fades out?🤣
Haha, I think he says "I don't want much", but it's hard to tell.
🔥
One can argue John Henry Bonham as the MVP of rock musicians; No Led Zeppelin before him...and despite many bands trying...no Led Zeppelin after.
I really appreciate that you toned down the backing track so we could hear what YOU are doing. Is it 100% or not... a lot easier to tell when it isnt basically a lip sync track.
Thanks. Yeah, I've seen some other covers here we're basically you are hearing Bonzo louder than the actual drummer playing in the video. 🤔
Funky
Outstanding..... Could you rip the song In My Time Of Dying???
I did two versions. Check my playlists under Physical Graffiti, also did a live style version just solo drums. Thanks!
👍🇺🇸👍
👏👏👏👏👏🕺🥁🎶🎶

Thanks a lot! yes, listened quite a bit to the iso drums
Really well done !! congrats. Great feel , great sound. How was it recorded I wonder? No visible mikes on the kit.
👏👏👏👏👏👏
George, ah!
I know I’m late to this but very good job. I’m not a drummer so forgive the dumb question. Keeping 4/4 time with the bass drum is pretty easy but how hard is it with those different beats?
George are you using felt strips for the bass drum cause it sounds good 👌
Yes, on the rear only. I also have shredded newspaper in the drum, just a bit
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
where is the cowbell?
What heads are you using?? Sounds amazing!
You always use emperor and 42 wires on snare??? Please, sound perfect like a bonham
Yes, on the Supra. Thanks!
