Working from home can feel like living at work, not what everyone wants. For some, work is an escape from difficult situations at home. During my corporate career, I became aware of people who spent long hours at the office to escape problems at home. For some families, including some low income, home can be cramped and noisy. Working from home in a separate space, with all the necessary technology is a luxury for mainly the privileged (of which I am one, and I try to be aware of that).

I started working from home about 18 years ago and I love it! No office politics, no time wasted commuting (especially on the LA congested freeways), no buying special clothes for the office, no gas, less car insurance for driving less, less spending on food... perfect! Plus, I can attend all the meetings and workshops via Zoom while working, do laundry, cook, have a healthy meal, rest if I am not feeling well. So many benefits. Thus said, it is not for everyone. One has to be extremely disciplined. I wake up early, exercise, take my shower, get dressed (properly including makeup and hair), breakfast, clean the kitchen and start working. At the end of the day, turn off the computer around 6 pm, no more thinking about work, make a list for incomplete for the next day and that's it! LOVE IT!

I work from home for the first time in my 32 year career and I LOVE IT!!!!!!!! After years of spending 3 hours a day on the highway, skidding to the office in terrible icy and snowy weather, and the daily shower/makeup/dress grind, it is bliss for me.

Because my job was in the medical field and I had to interact daily, and often spontaneouly, with patients, families and of course staff, work from home was not an option, but it never seemed appealing to me. I know I would have descended into living in pajamas, no makeup, finding all kinds of distractions, I would never have been productive. And then I would have felt guilty, gone on work binges and just been a mess. So if I ever do return to work, I want the pleasure of dressing up, and having those face to face interactions. One of the things I love about your videos is how you put yourself together, and doing that myself never got old.

When I was working, I had a hybrid work week. I went into my office three days a week and worked from home the other two days. It was perfect. Going in enabled me to feel part of my team, and working from home alleviated the stress of commuting (live in a state with horrible climate swings). It really worked well for me.

I hear you Michele! I live right in the city and my work is a leisurely 7 minute walk and I still prefer to work from home. I go in once or twice a week. I love not having to apply makeup or get dressed. Plus I’m an extreme introvert and can happily go days without seeing anyone, so it suits me down to the ground.

I work from home 4 days with one on site and the occasional trip into London for a meeting - 1 per month. I love it. I commuted into London for years and the commute is horrible. I feel free now and going to London is something I look forward to now rather than hating it. If it was 100% wfh I would adjust and make it work. I can’t go back to the office again though.

I love working from home. I'm very grateful that I'm able to, and had a home working set up long before any lockdowns. Pre-Covid, my commute was minimum 2 hours each way, and to get those 4+ hours back has made a world of difference to my mental health. I would never return to that commute.

I love working from home. Having to wake up, get to the train station to have a 45min train journey to work and back(without any delays). The team has to go in once a week now which isn't that bad, as long as the trains are running on time.

It was the happiest time of my life to be working at home and saving at least 3 hours a day on the commute. I now go to the office two days a week, it was 3 for awhile, which I did not like. Once I'm there it's okay, but the exhaustion of waking up at 5:30 am and rushing is not comparable to sleeping in till 7:30 and turning on my computer.

I like the option to work from home for days when I have a doctor appointment or am not feeling as well but mostly I like to work in the office because when I'm home I have trouble focusing on work and I want to get all the house chores done. I find I focus better in the office and love seeing people and all those little interactions that you get when you see people in a group in person.

I used to work remotely but now find I like to go in once or twice a week to maintain relationships with my coworkers. It helps with collaboration when you can joke and throw out ideas outside the constraints of a zoom meeting.
But as a deep introvert, I find working at home very rejuvenating and productive as well. Hybrid is a good balance for me.

I work from home and love it! I wish I had this option when my kids were younger. It gives me great flexibility for appts, after school sports, and school pick up and drop offs. It also saves me money on gas and car maintenance, not to mention time not commuting. Even money on makeup and clothing, not having to get dressed up everyday.

I work from home and have since the start of pandemic. I really wanted to not have to get up, get it together and go in for long hours everyday so this was such a blessing. The push to go back in doesn’t really appeal to me. My teams are dispersed everywhere so it works fine. I do make sure I get out at least 2 times a week to walk away from it all for lunch but I’m setup in a home office & it’s great.

Now that I live in a more comfortable place I love working from home, before I felt crammed in my old place (though I still prefer wfh), and would commute to get away when my roommates and neighbors were home. But now I’m living by myself so my space and my life is at peace, I have a great and healthy morning routine and my work space is separate so everything is wonderful.

I retired in June of 2022 and worked from home for about a year and a half before that. All staff in my dept. easily worked 60+ hours per week. So my hours didn't change but working from home gave me more control of my day. Didn't have to deal with walk-in customers or other interruptions. I liked it much better but not enough to continue working. lol

We don't have many options where I from to work from home. I work 9hrs a day, 5 days a week in IT. I think where you live makes a huge impact on the options that you have with work. I'm not one that could make a career sitting IN front of a camera talking about my life every day. I just prefer the environment of going into the office and being productive. It amazes me the amount of money the younger ( and some older) of the generation are making just off of social media (likes, views, paid advertising, etc.)…. It's crazy the things society is throwing money and time at these days. I very much enjoy watching you because it's like a movie for me.... a type of life that I'll never have. Even if I could, I'd probably never spend that kind of money on clothing, handbags, or facial products. But to each their own, right... It's also awesome that you bring us along on your trips so that we're able to see all these amazing places that you're blessed to visit..

I prefer physically going into work, although I commented to someone that I do enjoy working from home one day a week. I like leaving my work at work and keeping home separate. I have noticed, since most of our agency went remote, that the issues we are having is communication breakdown, things getting lost in the online “paper shuffle”, those kinds of issues. I feel like there is more cohesiveness and collaboration when you can work on projects face to face, especially with the number of newhires we’ve onboarded in the past several years. I miss the impromptu-ness of just chatting with your coworkers in person rather than having to set up a Zoom meeting. That’s just me, though. 😊

Taking off my makeup and changing to comfy cloths helps me transition to home time at the end of the workday. The only downside to working from home is that I tend to work much longer hours and have to remind myself to get up and move around. My senior cat often reminds me to take a brake🙂

I'm an insurance adjuster for a large carrier and during Covid we were all ordered to stay home. In the beginning it was nice then once we were allowed to go out I was so happy to get out, so talk to ppl and move around! So yes and no. Either way I NEVER worked in my PJ's every morning I got up at the same time, put on my makeup and clothes before sitting down to work. I know a lot of my fellow employees spent the day in their robe and it just felt so wrong to me!

Hello Michele! I honestly wish I could work from home, but it’s not an option for me - I work in a beauty salon so I have to be present 😅 My commute sucks though, I live in NJ and work in NYC (UES) so it’s brutal.
Also a special thank you for the code for the bag - I just ordered one for my daughter, so timely! Thank you, thank you! ❤

I work for one of the 'Big Four' and have a hybrid schedule. We can choose how many days we work either in the office or from home, main focus is that the work gets done and KPIs are met etc. Personally, I aim for 2-3 days in the office and the remainder from home. This is my first hybrid working situation and I love the flexibility it provides. I believe that this new found flexible way of working is one of the big pros for working with our company, and many would rethink their career if the firm forced us back into a full-time office schedule.
My days do look very different, commuting means a 5am wake up and a 6:40am train as I like to be in the office from 7:30am - 4:30pm, whereas working from home I wake at 7:00am and am logged in by 8:00am. I could then work up to 8:00pm depending on the day.

I was a teacher, I taught from home during the pandemic. It was ...weird. but I would say I am happy doing either because, like you said, you get a separation working from an office. But it sure was pleasant to walk to my kitchen get a good cup of coffee whenever I wanted one while working from home.

I'm retired so I do all of my work from home. 😊 I'm being a smart*$$. Seriously, I would enjoy working from home in the winter to avoid dangerous driving weather here in the Midwest. But I would want to work on site during the warmer seasons. I enjoy interacting with people. I backed up the video to look closer at the zipper pulls on the mini bag (which I love). I first thought "Oh, Michele forgot to pull off the white covering on the one pull. Nope! it's truly white. 😉

I like working from home, but I need to get out more and socialize as well as travel more if possible! I can't concentrate in environments with a lot of people or noise. I think that would be the downside of working from home if there are animals or children. When you are working you need to work. And when you are home you need to be home and present. Overall in my old age, I just want peace and quite! Haha.

I started working from home about 14 years ago and grew to hate it. Being a solopreneur, I am mostly by myself. It feels so isolated at times. After the first few years, I noticed the effect it had on my mental health. I started to go to a co-working office 2 days a week instead. I like to be around with people

I actually love working from home. I do have to go in one day a week and that perfect for me . I take that day to actually get dress and put on makeup. I also like working from home because it helps with gas , eating out and my mental health… traffic can be crazy where I’m from. I’m a homebody so it doesn’t bother me to not be around people.

As a writer and researcher, I love and need quiet to focus, and love the quiet of my own space. It’s the difference of writing a researched article in 5 hours as opposed to 30 minutes max. I also cannot stand office politics and the energy sap of that as a creative.
PS: Coffee beans are very much like wine grapes, they all have tannins, and depending on the bean and region the more tannins and tartness you will taste. African beans do have more tannins, giving them more of a berry flavour. A good barista will understand if you give them your preferred flavour profile.

I work remotely 3 mo/yr doing fieldwork in the Arctic, then I switch to working from home for the remaining 9 mo/yr. What I think is a great balance!
But I do believe it takes effort separating work life from personal life when working from home. I need to draw hard lines or the work takes over. It helps having a separate room for my office so I can literally close the door on Fridays and not open it again until Monday morning.

I work full time Mon to Fri, but I work from home every Wednesday. It just breaks up my week and I actually get quite a bit more done at home because there are less distractions! I am based in Australia, and work for a global company with teams all over the world - many of the teams overseas like being in the office because at home, they might be living with their extended families and it is loud and chaotic, there is not a lot of room; or they have in very poor internet connection at home.

People REALLY use the office as a social hour. I’m like STFU and get back to work. My commute is short but people drive like assholes😑. I get less done in office because extroverts are so happy to have someone to yap at🙄. I’m onsite to work, I don’t want people in my face (Covid is still a thing). Working from home is a non-negotiable for me. Like you, I have the best co-worker sharing my office space. He sleeps at my feet so I’m never lonely and he motivates me to step out into the yard every few hours for fresh air and movement. 🐶 I save so much money and time by being able to step into the kitchen and prep a quick lunch. I make sure to eat lunch at either my patio table or kitchen bar (never at my desk) - so that I get a break from the computer. My life is so much more balanced now that I work from home full time but I do miss seeing (some of) my colleagues in person. lol. 😊

I have a hybrid schedule - which I find ideal. Commuting and gossiping and lunch, etc. waste a lot of time so I actually find that home days are more productive. That said, I think that junior people learn a lot more when they are physically working next to those who have more experience. I don’t think that we will ever go back to 100% in person as our industry does not require it.

My commute was 1+ hr each way. So talk about a waste of time! Plus, the traffic was miserable and it just increased my stress level so much. Having to pack food for 10 hrs away from home, and sometimes bringing whatever I needed for any event/hobby/etc. right after work…just so annoying. Working from home increased my productivity so much. That said, I have a dedicated office. It’s very easy to separate “on the clock” and “off the clock,” easy to schedule breaks and stick to them, etc. If I lived in a 1bd apartment, I probably would struggle with WFH.
