My first thought when I saw you was "they're Canadian" before I looked at your profile, Takes one to immediately recognize one or a couple! (hell yeah and high five there!) Because I need that perspective! Thank you so much for sharing your journey. It has been my dream to go to Peru for many, many years and now I'm almost all booked! The main flights are settled YVR and the inter-Peru flights also but my main dream about Peru is exactly this! Machu Picchu. I was gonna do the trek via trail but circumstances do not permit so train it is. So anyway I'd love to know more about transport and accommodation because we land in Cusco and I'm still apprehensive about staying there more than a day when there is so much to see in the Sacred Valley.

Excellent editing....loved the different angles of the train. Keep on truckin' guys. Love your videos ❤ BTW - The elevation of M.P. is approx. 7,900 ft. above sea level. That valley you look down into is the Urubamba Valley. That PEAK mt. is known as Huayna Picchu = approx 8,920 feet above sea-level. It is perfectly fine to climb it, but the extreme vertical climb up the "stairs of death" is kinda scary!! ALWAYS CARRY A WATER BOTTLE WITH YOU, HOMIES - DEHYDRATION SETS IN RAPIDO at those heights. Hey Eric, if they try to rush you, tell them that you're gonna do to the security guard what Francisco Pizarro did to the Inca ruler, Atahualpa!! I think it was like in 1532 or 1533 that Pizarro the s.o.b. took Atahualpa captive. Atahualpa had like 800,000 men while Pizarro only had like 250 s.o b. gold-stealing Spaniards. Atahualpa was captured @ Cajamarca, but not b4 Valverde, a Catholic Spanish Friar tried to convert the Incan to Christianity and accept the Spansh monarch, Charles V, as sovereign. Of course the Incan Ruler got pissed and at Valverde's signal, Pizzaro's punk a$$ men opened fire on the Incas. 😪 Guys, in less than 2 hrs over 5,000 Incas were slaughtered. The Spaniards and Pizarro torturtured Atahualpa by ramming a stuck up his backside and lashing him. Atahualpa did convert to Roman Catholicism b4 his death, because if he didn't he was going to be burned at the stake & the Incas believed that the soul wouldn't be able to go to the afterlife if the body was burned. Instead of being burnt at the stake, he requested to be strangled with a garrote in 1533 & was given a Christian burial. Folklore has it that his followers exhumed his body, mummified it, and buried it very secretly somewhere in the N of his empire...perhaps in what is now modern-day Ecuador. 🇪🇨

MachuPicchu is one of those places in the World that really belongs to Humanity. It presence goes further of Peru. i mean it is physically in Peru, but the meaning of its existance is for everyone. It has no Flag, no nationality, it has no limit and no boundries. I could probably be misunderstood, but it is true

So apparently it's still possible to get tickets online but only a very limited amount so everyone that wants to go: try to plan in advance as much as possible. :) The other option would be to get tickets in person the day before you want to go in the town itself. :)

Great video of Machu Picchu. However, needed to tell everybody that there is only few months where they will see everything green. The rest of the year everything is brown. When I saw it, there was not any time limits for the visitors. Before leaving Peru, make a Part II of Machu Picchu. Give the name of the “Young Mountain” or Huayna Picchu Mountain. Pay for a guide that will take AND explain all the spectacular sights. This would have made the video the best!

    • @EricandSarah

Thanks for the feedback Bodvar! It’s good for others to know it’s not always green and there’s not always time limits. Maybe one day we’ll return and make a strictly informational video about the ruins :)

The truth is that there are books by Spanish scribes who say that when they asked the villagers about who had built Maccu Pichu, they said that it was not the Incas, that the citadel was already there when the Incas arrived. It’s the main City of Cusco seems safe and the same goes for Lima but as always be safe and be aware because if you are an American you become a target by default. It’s one of those Things Americans always have to go through.

Great content other than the entitlement. All of us that have been to MP paid a lot of money to be there. It’s so disappointing when tourists visit a foreign country and expect everything to be about them. They are telling you to move along because they tell everyone to move along. You can’t have tripods because imagine if everyone had tripods. If people would actual research before going to these places instead of “doing it for the gram” none of this would come as a surprise. Enjoy the rest of your visit but please keep in mind, you are in their land and should follow their rules.

    • @EricandSarah
      @EricandSarah  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Hey thanks for watching! Although I think you may have misunderstood our frustration for entitlement. We actually did a lot of research and understood as many rules as we could before we went (because we wanted to enjoy the beautiful sights of this world wonder while following the rules). Our videos are also here to show people what it was like for us so that they can be informed for their own visit. This included our own mistake of bringing a tripod and having issues with guards.
The frustration you saw could have been anyone’s frustration because these guards really did have it out for us. We didn’t put that part in the video because we didn’t want to focus on it. And as we said, we would understand if there were more folks there, we wouldn’t have any issue moving along. But most people we talk to say they had all the time they wanted at the various stops (some even had as much as 3 hours by themselves up there!). So we stand by our frustration, as these guards put a damper on our time at this beautiful place. It was less about feeling entitled to more time, and more about disappointment that these guards felt the need to harass us while ignoring everyone else who was also there for even longer than us.
We appreciate the feedback because it is important to us. But we don’t want you to misunderstand us as travellers (because there certainly are a lot of people out there who only ‘do it for the gram’). We try our best to follow and understand why rules and customs are in place. Hope you can enjoy more of our stuff and thanks again for watching!

Is it possible to take a bus directly from Lima airport to aguas instead of stopping at Ollantaytambo? Also, machu pitchu official sites tickets seems to be sold out for 3 days, does it seems to be that local tour operators bought all tickets for sale+ commission?
That seems to defeat the purpose for respecting the site. I have been to many UNESCO heritage sites around the world, never seen such practice, visitors can buy tickets/ passes online without issues 😢 this already gave me a unpleasant feeling before my arrival

    Slight correction 👩🏾‍🏫
1400s isn't when "people started coming to America/South America". People were already in the Americas. That's when colonizers came and wiped out the indigenous populations/communities who had BEEN living throughout North/Central/South Am.

They tend to rush you if you are to “touristy”. I’ve sat there at the top for 30 min when I went an no one ever said anything but I know how they work there. Locals do take pride in that mountain. But they should have just left you alone imo.

Machu Picchu is more expensive than Petra Jordan. The $62 is just for 4 hours????
The Jordan 2 days pass seem less, no time limit, no one is rushing me. The pass is for multiple attractions within Petra. I rode 🐎, donkey 🐴 within the entire Petra compound.
It's hard to believe Jordan cost less!

You have to take a plane from Lima to Cusco, take a 4 hour train ride to Aguas Caliente and then take a 30 min bus ride. However, I do not recommend the bus. Just hike it. You’ll save yourself the $30 it cost and it’s actually faster because there is always a 30-45 min bus ride wait

Do you think there are no Peruvians who look like you? .... in Peru there are countless races, oriental, African, Spanish descent, in Peru there are Chinese, white, red, green, gringos, I thought you were a bit derogatory reaction when your girlfriend said she felt like Peruvian...

    • @EricandSarah

I said I felt Peruvian because I was wearing a poncho... the comment actually had nothing to do with looks or race! And then I even corrected myself because although many Peruvians wear ponchos, many also do not so I didn't mean for that comment to sound like cultural appropriation. I apologize if you took offense to my comment. We love the diversity of Peruvian people!
