This house is indeed in Dzorwulu. I pass by it every day on my morning walk. It has been on the market for about two years. I am not surprised given the $7,000 rental tag. I have always admired the mediterranean and spanish fusion of the build.
What you have to factor into the equation is the wear and tear from long term rentals. Refurbishing after the expiry of these tenancies has, on each occasion been very expensive.
Dennis I remember your house, up the road, being built back in the day. Incidentally, the Cadely Hayfords and my family go back a long way... Your cousin Ernest was my TKD instructor way back when.
@@anthonyakiwumi1974 Good to know Anthony that your family are good friends with mine. Ernest is still in the States. I moved back from the States in 2012. Stay in touch.
This lady is truly a genius. I hope you two can find the time to document all her work. She's amazing, and she seems like such a lovely person as well.
It does sound high, but for the land and square footage... and the custom details, that's actually a good price. Here in the U.S. such a property would easily rent for twice or, depending on location, even three times that amount, easily.
Beautiful home love the idea of the windows sliding right back into the wall makes the rooms much bigger and brings the outside in. That Lady knows her stuff she sounds so nice 👍
What an absolutely phenomenal house! Auntie is so classy, the best taste! A delight to the eyes. Not sure how many people in Ghana would really appreciate the architecture of this beautiful house.
I love the celling in the kitchen and the inclined wall with windows. House built in the 80s, i guess. This property would be a paradise 🤩 if the house were completely renovated (even the roof ) and the big garden also.
Absolutely wonderful ♥️🧚🏿♀️... soo very beautiful.. I’m a great lover of space.. this house has a definite Thal mahal ambiance to it... I wish I was young in the same times as this Lady and her generation. Just the whole 60 ans 70 era. She and her work reminds my at the vibe and free spirited feeling of this time in all the best ways...
I love love the design of this House. Very creative. I love the large windows and sliding doors and spacious compound. You don’t get these in new houses these days.
Hey Mrs. Vanessa I love your videos❤ Social Studies was my favorite subject in school so i always wanted too travel n see the 🌎It looks very pretty there and the weather look so lovely ❤
Hey I watch a few of your videos, I’ll look right now but I might as well ask as well. Do you post videos about how much it cost to build these homes ? And on a deeper level do you show the process of people building ? I’d like to know how they’re able to build ! Thank you
Thanks for the peek into this property, Vannesa. Will appreciate more information during these 'House & Gardens' type tours, though. Artists are constantly borrowing from each other. Was there a single, or were there perhaps, multiple themes which informed her design choices, for e.g? What wood spp did she prefer for panelling, etc and why? Did she have to import particular hard furnishings, tiles, etc herself and from where? What's her target market, given her value - price proposition? In her experience, is there a noticeable and keen demand for such resplendent properties in Accra? What does it cost to maintain such properties in Accra; including property rates? What is the current market value of the property? What are some of her most cherished memories from living here? Why is she renting it out, rather than staying in it and continuing to enjoy this work of art? Any thoughts of repurposing this artwork for regular enjoyment by a wider clientele? ... A few pieces of information which will add value to these 'House & Garden' tours. (You may wish to give your tour guides a heads up on the subjects you'll explore prior to filming, in that case; no need for gotcha moments, since your object is to inform and entertain us). Keep going, Vannesa, there's greater value ahead of you.
Heavenly house. Although I'm more contemporary. I love the Mediterranean and I picked up some North African influences as well. A bit Moroccan maybe. She's a very special and highly intelligent lady. I'd love her to be my Aunty. Keep up the good work Venessa. 🇬🇧🇯🇲🙏🏾❤️
You know I've been waiting for this one, lol. Thanks, Vanessa! Such a beautifully designed home! I'm not usually one for wood, but, so far, I'm loving the two homes Ms. Ophelia has designed. What part of Accra is this one in? Do you know if she does short-term (holiday) rentals?
Yeah, I mean I make decent money but jeezus that’s expensive. Surely worth it, but I’m more into her Rafia homes. Small, affordable and can be built in the country side easily 😌 One day soon, I’ll be a customer of hers.
This style suits Africa' s colour and weather, you can feel the North African building style influences. Traditional building knew how to make a house fresh in the summer and warm in the winter without the use of electricity. I agree with her about disliking glass and concrete buildings because they make you dependent on expensive electricity to live comfortably on hot climates. This lady is so interesting I hope lots of Africans Architects be inspired by her visions. 🇧🇷❤️
So beautiful, this woman has such a calm and balanced appearance❤️ Vanessa can you please look into what's going on with Ghana and this whole Vaccination agenda? I read an article that said that the Ghanaian government is planning to vaccinate their entire population (20million people) starting March when the vaccine distribution suppose to start. Can you inform us to what extent this is really happening and what this would mean for travelers to Ghana and people who do not condone to get vaccinated? Would love to see your insight on that! Stay blessed!!!
thanks for a great video vanessa, how many bedrooms, toilets bathrooms, dining rooms, sitting rooms, kitchens, store rooms? how many square metres indoors and outdoors?
I love her Design style it’s very uniquely done and well worth the price it’s like living an Art , I love it as , why don’t you make the place a showroom for all your designs .
I love the overall design of this house but it is dark inside and needs more modern updates. I would take some of the aesthetics from her current more modern place and add more windows to let in light but the skeleton and layout is really nice. I wonder what the sale price is?
Mrs Akiwumi, I'm curious about your husband. Could be interesting to have him around. I'm sure he has done a lot of interesting things too, as a free spirit who could live under a tree and yet you (together) seem to be a well-off couple :).
The house should be turned into a hotel or some sort of guest house or even for a company to rent it out. it is beautiful enough to command high prices. That price is ways too expensive for peasants like me! the most I can pay for such a house is 9 minutes and 2 2 second of and a like on youtube. 😂
Well, late bloomer in terms of being in the public eye; she has been leading a revolution and making an impact on local interior and furniture design since the seventies with projects such as State House and Osu Castle. Recently produced all the furniture for the Presidential residence at Jubilee House.

Wow! I love these older builds. Vanessa, please show us more of these. The materials used and workmanship just stands the test of time.
Beautiful home, wish there was more light in the interior.
The outside landscape is nice and clean and there is grass.
The color scheme contributes to that
There is a fair bit of good light though the glass is tinted for cooling efficiency.
I love your
