It’s neat how, opposite to his first encounter, Gabriel loses the enraged status with his second phase, because he’s enjoying the fight rather than seeking revenge
fighting v1 is like therapy for him, he's never lost so either he fights way too hard or everything was a push over. No battle was fun because there was no difficulty. only when fighting someone almost equal to him did he have fun sheading blood and sharing blows in a battle.

When Gabe says Limbo and List were already gone, with Gluttony soon to follow, I think what’s going on is a machine invasion is killing everything in hell. I thought they were merely like seeping in and causing chaos, but the ones V1 fights might just be the ones that have rushed ahead, and the main horde is following in his wake

@@grapes5672 Go to Wrath 5-2 and reach the Boathouse (the first part where they introduce Idols and how they work/get beaten), there's a Book there with a Ferryman register, he Mentions that River Styx became an OCEAN all of a sudden and that said Ferryman was DOING HIS JOB as it happened, An Overpouring of Souls coming all of sudden at the same time.

@@R.BChefOfDistrict23 He was somewhat in the right, as the ferryman showed devotion in his job, having gabriel (who was devoted to the council, believing that they were in gods right) save him due to his beliefs, while the council would not care due to them being weak and impotent.
Gabriel really gets a huge character change after act 2, which makes me appreciate gabriel more.
And I think I can sum up gabes charactee arc in this sentence:
"My blade was a tool of justice, not used for personal gain, used in the name of the lord, but now? Now I'm not so sure. Besides, god is dead."

God damn, we don’t hear this level of voice acting often, even rarer, you don’t hear people utilize the emotion in a slightly shrieking voice like when Gabriel’s “my hand will relish ending you” line.
Gianni's performance is what makes this so good. Paired with the music and visuals, it just makes Gabe just a phenomenal for that in no way feels frustrating to fight

With the new cutscene of him killing the council, I do wonder if hakita will go the dmc route and make it so you can play as gabe after you beat the game, or make it so you get his sword as the 4th arm

Tell that to entire layer of Lust and King Minos, who tried to reason with him but dude still one-punched him into the P rank realm. I still believe that he's an asshole, and deserved what he got, as well as Angelic Council. It took him to taste blood to realise that everything is bullshit after the second fight. But I will defend his actions during the Greed Rebellion where Sisyphus orchestrated an revolution, because unlike King Minos, Sisyphus went the genocide route. Gabriel deserved what he got from the machine, and I believe that we will get God's hand before we have to fight against him in last layer of treachery.
This new plot makes me like Gabriel a whole lot more. Before I thought he was just as much of an asshole as the holy council, and looked down his nose at humanity. And while that is _somewhat_ true, its clear that he does want to spread kindness and salvation. REAL salvation. Not just empty words of reassurance. Not to mention him being defeated by V1 twice has made him start to see things differently. He is a much deeper character now and I am personally all for it. The final rematch is gonna be a level of badass ranked on a biblical scale. (Heh)
im willingly convinced that Gabriel is the real protagonist of ULTRAKILL and v1 is just there to keep the plot going
@@PeptoAbismol Yeah I honestly agree. V1 is basically an animal. Going on a killing spree to satiate it's hunger, like the rest of the machines. It's just better at it than the rest. Gabriel seems to actually have morals and somewhat of a conscience. The events of this game are just his awakening, and realizing he is capable of being more than just a sword. Unfortunately, it seems it will be short lived for him, as his death is now a certainty, regardless of if V1 actually manages to kill him or not in the end.

v1 does jack shit besides, uh, murder, but he's also the reason why gabriel decided to do an uprising against heaven, by this logic, you're not the main character of the story, instead, you're gabriel's motivation to be the character that puts things in motion.

@@anonymouslucario285 Gabriel is very different from Vergil and has only surface level similarities. The dmc references which were Vergil quotes in particular felt forced. The one where he said "You make even the devil cry" was decent though

this is a year old but - i think he just doesnt know this feeling because hes not used to actually being beaten up. considering he's the archangel gabriel, the one who delivered the message and the baby to mary, he's probably not even a fighter (unlike archangel michael) so he's definitely not used to the feeling of being beaten up, losing, and seeing his own blood. he's relieved because he finally feels FREE from the council's grip and realizes theres a lot to learn from being mortal in a sense

1:32 Hearing him say this to me after he killed me about 7 times during his second boss fight made me feel like he was actually insulting me, after that i got so sloppy with my movements i needed to take a break from the difficulty i was on and switched it to the next easier difficulty where i beat him first try.

I love how at first Gabriel sees V1 as an annoying obstacle to remove, then purely hates it to realise that V1 opened his eyes and will probably want to fight it for the third time but out of passion, not anger. And I guess he'd want to be killed by V1 in the end, in a fair duel, with all might they both posess.
