- When you read the title you must be thinking 'which train runs this route?'. This special route is possible because after arriving in Dordrecht I continue to Roosendaal, where the low sun shines a beautiful light over the yard. You have indicated in previous videos that you like that I emphasize the coasting a bit more. During this ride I will show you a number of times what the possibilities are to save energy. Of course there is more happening along the way. Enjoy this nice long ride!

Als je de titel leest denk je natuurlijk 'welke trein rijdt deze route?'. Deze bijzondere route is mogelijk omdat ik na aankomst in Dordrecht als leegmat doorrijdt naar Roosendaal, waar de laagstaande zon een mooi licht over het emplacement uitstraalt. Jullie hebben in eerdere video's aangegeven dat jullie het leuk vinden dat ik het uitrollen (coasting) wat meer benadruk. Tijdens deze rit laat ik weer een aantal keren zien wat de mogelijkheden zijn om energie te besparen. Er gebeurt natuurlijk nog meer onderweg.. Geniet van deze lekker lange rit. Veel kijkplezier!

Around 2:15:30 there is a huge building on the right, the largest I have ever seen on your videos. It looks like it even has rail service. Do you know what it is?

@@williamtajibnapis7571 Ah, that ugly thing. This is a very large box. I hate it. Long ago the view used to look like what you see to the left. It is gone. Forever. More and more of these views and horizons disappear by these boxes in a rapid pace. We call this phenomenon 'verdozing' or 'boxification'. Probably because we are consuming too much.. It is a Primark Distribution Center. Clothes from Ireland are being packed here and sent to France. No shop in the Netherlands.

Ja, maar niet eindeloos. De elektrische systemen blijven op de accu’s werken en de pneumatische systemen worden vanuit het hoofdreservoir gevuld.

This has always been a very unusual service to me. Somehow, despite the enormous detour, this is a faster way to Leiden from Utrecht (because the direct route is still single-track and the "ICs" there are just Sprinters).
Den Haag's train network is also ridiculous because Centraal is a final station for every train and does not allow for trains to run through. Despite the easy transfers by Sprinter and local transit, the gap between Den Haag HS and Centraal feels like an oversight.
You're not right about that. According to the timetable, the direct journey from Utrecht to Leiden takes 42 minutes, in the video the journey via Schiphol takes about 53 minutes.

There do seem to be trains on that route that don't stop at every station, and some that do. All are SLTs, but the ones that skip some stations are called "Intercity".
Would like to see them eventually invest in double track along the Utrecht-Leiden route, because 40 minutes is still very slow.
De baanvaksnelheid na hoofddorp is 160, in hoevere wordt dit in de praktijk ook echt gebruikt? Ik kan me voorstellen dat veel treintypes dit niet bereiken ivm ATB beperkingen?
Is voor de Thalys bedoeld toen die nog over de “oude lijn” reed.

Is het mogelijk om in een volgende video uit te leggen hoe het Nederlands netwerk ruwweg is opgezet met rond Utrecht een splitsing van intercity's en sprinters (vandaar 4 sporen) om afhankelijkheid te elimineren. Plus het vroegtijdig scheiden van 2 naar vier baans zo ver mogelijk van bv 030. En als laatste een compleet 4 baan traject tussen 020 en 030. Utrecht is in feite de belangrijkste hub van Nederland. Nieuwe infrastructuur maakt mogelijk om met 70 km/h Utrecht cs te passeren wat belangrijk is voor bv vracht vervoer. Minimaal aan wissels nog op Utrecht cs dus minder storingen

You should already try your hand at international travel. To travel to Belgium, Germany, Denmark and France and Luxembourg. But by the way... Rosendaal, Maastricht or Einschede have extensions there
Regarding your freewheeling ways, and using the approach to Roosendaal as data, I concluded that you applied the brakes at 2:10:58 (164.1 km). That means that the rolling resistance is a deceleration rate of 31.9 m/sec. In that time the speed reduced from 132 km/h to 98 km/h. So you lost speed at a rate of 3.77 km/h per km travelled. Confused? Me too! Oh, let's not forget the hot-air balloon over the junction with the Breda line.
As an average. Deceleration is not lineair as air resistance plays a larger role at higher speeds. Now, have you also figured out the distance to the balloon, and what temperature the air inside it has to be to stay there? ;-)

Could be several things: maintenance, cleaning, storing for the night, starting its shift there the next day.

Soms extra stabiliteit, soms beperking van schade bij ontsporing. Men zegt dat hier het laatste het geval is.

I'm wondering, do you coast the train to save electricity? Or just something you are allowed to do and have the skills to? I am just genuinely curious. When I have visited the Netherlands I have never noticed a driver coasting the train before.
I am using the recovery time to save energy.
When you cut the engine and coast, do you have to lower the pantograph?
No, I just set the speed controller to zero. Electrical systems like aircon and compressor still keep working.

Goed gezien! Ik zal het voortaan town noemen.
Het grappige is dat Den Haag eigenlijk het grootste dorp van Nederland is, want het heeft nooit stadsrechten gekregen, wel gemeenterechten. Technisch gezien is het dus eigenlijk geen stad....@@CabviewHolland

ik probeerde deze rit via de ns app te vinden maar dan kan ik alleen met overstap vinden haha of doe ik iets verkeerd? wel leuke video als altijd natuurijk :)
Dit zijn eigenlijk twee verschillende treinen die met hetzelfde materieel worden gereden. En de leegmatrit ddr-rsd zul je natuurlijk ook niet in de app vinden..

Het lijkt allemaal minder snel te gaan, alsof ik naar een Meester Paul video aan het kijken ben daar heb ik altijd hetzelfde gevoel.

Ik gebruik een lens met een wat realistischer perspectief en deze geeft ook qua snelheid meer de werkelijkheid weer. Hier kun je het verschil zien met de (in mijn ogen) overdreven groothoek van een actioncamera, die de meeste collega’s wereldwijd gebruiken.
