Great video!!! I did this myself too on a Samsung tv that wouldn't turn on for longer than a minute. It's a known design fault. They used capacitors of the wrong power for the circuit board. Samsung service centres denied this and wanted to charge me for the work. I did it myself for a couple of dollars. I have another Samsung tv that has this same issue, so I will do the same fix again. As ridiculous as this is, they still make the best value tv's but it's very disappointing when such a big company won't accept responsibility for loyal customers.

Nice video. Yes, sometimes TV's fail due to faulty bulging capacitors in the power supply board, but mine were fine as were the voltage outputs, so here is another repair. My 8yr old TV was turning off and on about every 20 seconds. The red standby light and backlight were on (as seen in a dark room), but the screen was black. I removed the main (logic) board and locally slowly heated the largest chip (integrated circuit) to about 200C for a few minutes with a hot air gun (see 'reflowing mainboard' videos on youtube). On re-assembly, it all worked again. After a few years, the solder cracks around chips that get hot ie the big chips often with heatsinks. Re-heating the solder to about melting point reseals those cracks. The job takes about 1hr and requires moderate DIY skills. . If this job looks too daunting, try taking it to a repair cafe.
Helpful guide, thanks! Hopefully our TV doesn't go out, but if it does I'll have my husband try to figure out what is wrong before we just go buy a new one. They are pricey!
The fix without opening the back of tv. Unplug the AC power and all cables from the wall and power surge protectors. Make sure there's no power going to the tv. Next unplug the HDMI cord and plug into another HDMI port. If that doesn't work some have a small trap door over the power supply, if you have a trap door remove and unplug the power supply, wait about 20sec and plug back in. Last resort, remove the back and unplug power supply and plug back in or follow the video above. I have the 5300 40' and all I did was move the HDMI cord to another and viola' it worked fine for me. It's been almost 2 weeks and hasn't happened again. I don't have a trap door so I'll have to resort to removing the back as a last resort.
Hello...since I can't and do not own a soldering kit nor know anyone who does. Is there any way I can buy the board? I was able to get to the capacitor (wanted to see if I could) but had to stop since the next step involves soldering. Any help is much appreciated.
Thank You for this very informative video ... I have the same problem with my Samsung Smart TV UN40D5550RF. I first have been checking the remote and it is not the remote so next I will go inside to those capacitors. Thank You for sharing this repair information.
I just went inside my Samsung Smart TV (UN40D5550RF) and the power supply board in mine is different looking than the one you show. I looked at all capacitors and there was none that showed swelling as you mention so I cleaned the 2 connectors to the board and the TV still does the on/off. I have a picture of my power supply board and I can email to you as I am not sure which capacitors in my case would be the suspect ones. On my board there is one large long multi value capacitor so maybe that is the one that took the place of that group that you have on your board. I will keep searching for the cure. Hate to give up this TV as the picture is awesome and it is a Smart TV too.
I almost cried when you desoldered that capacitor, dude, apply fresh solder, or paste to it , it melts the old right off in a second xD, you can then pump it all off, good vid tho
Great video and thumbs up. I have this SHARP and when I power it on, I see half the panel light up then go off. I have taken it apart and tested ALL the LED strips and they check out. I have stb voltage as well as 12 vts. I am puzzled with this problem. Might it be the PS causing this, or is the problem coming from the main board, and how would I separate the two boards when I need them connected to fire up the lights? Appreciate the assistance.
I just fixed my LN52A750R. It has been more than 10 years since I bought the TV. 2 capacitors were bad. The bad one on board shows correct testing on digital multimeter. i.e. test it as ohm meter with correct positive and negative terminals and it shows the capacitor charging. The resistance is high in beginning and then drops gradually. The capacitance charge/discharge is nonlinear. So i was little skeptical about doubting the capacitors. But I noticed that the top of 2 capacitors were popping out. so I changed it anyway. The Problem solved immediately. May be the capacitors got leaky enough not to function at all over the time. 1000 Microfarad/25V both capacitirs. I replaced them with little bigger 1000Mf/50V capacitors. (you can not change capacitance. but voltage rating bit higher is ok.). Thank you for your video. It solved my problem 100% as you explained. btw, i bought a assorted bag of electrolytic capacitors from ebay few years back. It is the most likely component to be failed in any electronics. It is just the nature of the that electrical component, the electrolyte capacitor.
Very good video describing problems that can occur to power supply boards. Small amount of fresh solder applied to capacitor solder joints will help and using solder wick is a good option, too. Less likely to damage solder pads! Good point about what to look for with defective capacitors.
I just had this happen with my Samsung Q8FN, turns out it was the batteries in my Comcast remote causing it to turn on and off. Replaced the batteries and now it works perfectly. Thank God I didn’t have to take my TV apart, especially on a Sunday with football about to start!!

I have a Samsung TV that has enough power to turn the light on and turn the screen on for about a second, but then it shuts off again and bootloops from there. Do you think this could be something like a capacitor from your experience?
My problem is a bit different. Problems only started once I added a Samsung Sound Bar into the mix. Problems started a couple weeks later with random turning off and on. I did have a problem with the connector cord before not maintaining contact with the TV but fixed that by crimping the end of the cable with pliers (why Samsung insists on these cheap cords and cheap prong inputs is beyond me). I'm going to get an optical cable and connect to the sound bar that way instead of wirelessly with Bluetooth and see if that fixes the problem. There doesn't seem to be any ideas of much use on Samsung's website. If I ever need to replace components, I am extremely luck. I won the set in a contest. The first one sent was damaged in transit and they sent another but let me keep the damaged one. That means I have all the boards brand new and never been used! A handy bonus...
That is lucky to have those on hand if needed! It does sound like the sound bar could very well be the issue you are having. Keep us updated on what you find out!

You need to ensure what the capacity is and use exactly same capacity (each of those capacitors could have different capacity) The voltage is the maximum voltage the capacitor can handle and your capacitor should handle at least that voltage. Ideally try to find identical capacitors.

You're assuming it's a power board problem without any troubleshooting to determine exactly what the issue is. Many times it's not a power supply issue. Mine for example was a main board problem, and had I just taken your route I would have been wasting time and money. You should have started this video with troubleshooting steps to determine where the problem lies to begin with. For example you could disconnect the cable to the main board to see it stops cycling, thereby determining if it's a main board problem. There's also a very common issue where the wi-fi module creates this same symptom that can easily be determined by disconnecting the wi-fi module. There are a number of troubleshooting steps that should be taken BEFORE screwing with the power supply board.

All my four TVs are at most four months old. They all turn on by themselves to our annoyance; are you saying brand new TVs have something defective with their capacitors that require changing them?
@@crustman5982 Oh, it repaired itself. The software updates by itself and I think Samsung acknowledged the issue and issued the updates. None has turned on automatically ever since?
I discovered this issue was related to my Amazon Firestick when I plugged it into another tv and that one did the same thing. Eventually, it started working again so I assume the stick was overheated or something. If the issue reoccurs I'll replace the stick.
hello sir ,,, i have samsung 43 INCH 7 series INU7100 TV. After working few days, showing vertical lines and turning off and on by itself... WHAT IS THE PROBLEM HOW CAN I GET SOLUTION NOW? PLEASE ECPLAIN...
I understand TVs today (smart TVs) are very different from the original TVs (I'll call them "dumb" TVs). But even so, why the hell is a TV from the 80s still working WITHOUT ANY REPAIRS!! while my 2 year old TU8000 Samsung is requiring me to open up the back of the damn TV and replace things? It's like we improved in many ways, but aren't in others, like the freaking power (one of the most important factors). Like come on! It's not even just TVs. Kitchen appliances are lucky if you get 5 years out of them. Meanwhile, my grandfather is still using his 40 year old refrigerator like nothing.
Hi, Sheri here - agree with you! Stuff is not made like it use to be, which is quite sad. Technology is moving fast and quite often things are just cheaper to replace than fix :(
There are a lot of people who have had the capacitors changed inside their Samsung high definition or smart TV, but their TV still turns on and off on it's own. Most people don't have any more INSURANCE after a couple of years, which is a rip-off therefore, Samsung may or might as a 1st time courtesy send out a technician to change the capacitors for free as a first-time courtesy, However many people stated that it didn't stop the problem, then they call geek squad spending 150$ to $500 eventually having to change the motherboard brain inside of their Samsung TV. As we speak there is an ALLEGED LAWSUIT IN PROGRESS AGAINST Samsung concerning this MAJOR ISSUE FLAW in their COMPONENT. Point blank, no one should have to buy tools, open the back of a television to make it work again if it lived up to the hype of being the best.
Seriously? Is there an article about that lawsuit that you could point to? I'm also curious to know if recent models still have this issue or it's already fixed
@@diegocastaneda5165 by the way once I changed the batteries in my Samsung remote my TV went back to normal, it turns off and on normally again, this information also got from a video on TH-cam video as well.
I'm 74 years old I can't open the back of my TV so I'll try the other easier things if it doesn't work I'm throwing it out into the street because I received NO HELP from the Samsung help center.
Is tested all my capacitors and they were good. I even replaced two that appeared suspect as well. My TV still clicks on and off, any suggestions? Thanks.
Maybe the power supply? I have a Toshiba 55L711U18 doing that. We just bought a 65" TCL Roku tv because of the other one breaking. I might try to fix it. If it's not the capacitors I suspect it'd be the power supply.
Jesus, it's a hardware issue? I was thinking it was software related. I've never had it turn off by itself but there are times when I turn it off it turns back on by itself.
I bought a new Samsung TV for Christmas. Plugged it in and only stays on about ten seconds and the remote doesn't adequately go to the right buttons either. Closest Samsung technician is 200 miles away. And I have to pay for it myself because their warranty is bs.
My samsun TV turns off and on when it's cold. I heated the back of the TV with a heater and within 5 mins or so the TV worked but we cant keep doing that whenever we want to watch TV I order a new min board and will see if that fixed the problem
That still doesn't look right, they should be completly flat, search for a bad capacitor pictures to compare. Capacitors most of the time don't puff out noticeably, and when they do they tend to do that on the bottom, which is not visible until you remove the capacitor. You could also use multimeter to check them.
My TV having the same problem, I fixed it by replacing the capacitor. The TV worked fine for couple of days but started swith on and off again and again. Checked, all the capacitors look fine. Don't know what to do.
I can help you to fix it sir. Just follow my instructions and it will work. I repair washing machines, tvs,Refrigerators, water heaters etc. Pay after service....

well, my fix is, since TVs are at an extremely low prices now and I will just go out and buy another tv that will definitely not be a samsung under any circumstances. and because of the brand, a want to make it a point not to buy a samsung cell phone or any other product they make!

Try changing the power cord. See if you have another tv, ps4, ps5 cable that fits. I did that to my tv and it worked! 🙌🏽

My problem started just after I installed the Firestick 😢
hello sir ,,, i have samsung 43 INCH 7 series INU7100 TV. After working few days, showing vertical lines and turning off and on by itself... WHAT IS THE PROBLEM HOW CAN I GET SOLUTION NOW? PLEASE ECPLAIN...
What model is this?
This sounds like Spanish. I don’t understand anything. How much is it going to cost me to have this done?
My JVC does this aswell but it’s non stop on and of I’ve tried the remote battery issue and it wasn’t that could you help
Alex Guscott if it was not capacitors, you might need to replace tact switches)
Watched your video but capacitors look ok what next thankyou for video
An excellent video! Will you are a genius lol
Thanks, and yes he is :)
@@SheriNewton we're did you buy the capacitors
You live anywhere near pasadena, CA 😳
Just giveup and buy a new one. We did.
I probably would’ve bought a new logic board and fixed that capacitor issue later.
I'm 74 years old I can't open the back of my TV so I'll try the other easier things if it doesn't work I'm throwing it out into the street because I received NO HELP from the Samsung help center.
Go to the store, buy another one, same model. Put the bad tv in the new box and bring it back and get a refund.
@@LORDRA1DEN lmao that’s smart
@@LORDRA1DEN that’s a good idea until they put it back on the shelf and someone like me comes and buy it and have a hard time getting a refund.
Damn, so much for this kinda tv being “smart”
But thank you for showing us how you did yours
Bro thnx for very informative video
Is tested all my capacitors and they were good. I even replaced two that appeared suspect as well. My TV still clicks on and off, any suggestions? Thanks.
Maybe the power supply? I have a Toshiba 55L711U18 doing that. We just bought a 65" TCL Roku tv because of the other one breaking. I might try to fix it. If it's not the capacitors I suspect it'd be the power supply.
Is that a 35a 150ul compositor?
If you came to this video its possible that your house might be haunted
lol I mean, it is possible!
Show you some love
Thanks! :)
Jesus, it's a hardware issue? I was thinking it was software related. I've never had it turn off by itself but there are times when I turn it off it turns back on by itself.
yesssss, it never turned off by itself but it has turned on when i turned it off
Yeah guys there r are just the
I bought a new Samsung TV for Christmas. Plugged it in and only stays on about ten seconds and the remote doesn't adequately go to the right buttons either. Closest Samsung technician is 200 miles away. And I have to pay for it myself because their warranty is bs.
Thanks
My tv was doing that unplugged it all day came bak at night same issues so i just used a universal controler turned it on and boom started working
Yay!
My samsun TV turns off and on when it's cold. I heated the back of the TV with a heater and within 5 mins or so the TV worked but we cant keep doing that whenever we want to watch TV I order a new min board and will see if that fixed the problem
Interesting, I'll have to let Will see about that. Thanks - Sheri
Is the problem fixed? Mine is bad too
samsung QN50Q60TAF will not turn off picture comes on the partialy blacks out
Mine doesn’t really show a puffed out capacitor, only a millimeter bump and I’m not sure if it’s the problem
That still doesn't look right, they should be completly flat, search for a bad capacitor pictures to compare.
Capacitors most of the time don't puff out noticeably, and when they do they tend to do that on the bottom, which is not visible until you remove the capacitor. You could also use multimeter to check them.
I need to find my 2 year insurance paperwork from best buy for my 4k uhd samsung tv the pos keeps turning off in the middle of games
Don't need to they should have you on file
My TV having the same problem, I fixed it by replacing the capacitor. The TV worked fine for couple of days but started swith on and off again and again. Checked, all the capacitors look fine. Don't know what to do.
I can help you to fix it sir. Just follow my instructions and it will work. I repair washing machines, tvs,Refrigerators, water heaters etc. Pay after service....
Exelent , thanks
What was the capacitance value and voltage rating, just out of curiosity?
I ask, because I'm a repair technician about to do the same thing!
Use copper desolder braid it removes the solder with no mess
really helpful vid thnks will!
You're welcome, glad it helped!
hi buddy can you advise me
i have a samsung 7670 model
the power light flicks on off but nothing comes up - tv panel is fine as it has been working without any issues - the model is
www.samsung.com/uk/tvs/uhdtv-nu7670-eu/UE49NU7670UXXU/
no screws to open back panel
For me i just take out cable tv ,for 3 or 4 times and done :) . After 3 days of try all the possiible ways
Please my Q7c Samsung.. keeps going on and off itself. Telling me to choose language and boom off it goes and on back.
my smart tv is new and i have leds plugged into the back of it and they randomly turn on
I just punche it and it turns back on
lol whatever works I guess!
Am a woman living alone. and don’t know anything about screws.
@@gujjarareus2455 😂
Thank you, Sir!!!
You are most welcome!
well, my fix is, since TVs are at an extremely low prices now and I will just go out and buy another tv that will definitely not be a samsung under any circumstances. and because of the brand, a want to make it a point not to buy a samsung cell phone or any other product they make!
That can work too!
@@SheriNewton i've tried 2 of the fixes on here. I think Samsung should have supplied the fix once the problem was identified. But then we would not have purchased another tv; but they did not count on us not purchasing another samsung. Good luck
That's ridiculous blaming Samsung...they are State-of-the-Art on the planet....they are the highest tech screens and best memory manufacturer out there, the INVENT the stuff !....what are you going to buy instead...LG ("Lucky Goldstar") ??? Now THAT's junk ! Or some even lower quality no-name Chinese?
No, the problems described here are common to ALL electronic components, not just Samsung. Learn the repair methods, and the "Why's" of these breakdowns because they're common to all brands.
35 minutes into a boss fight and my screen goes black will the game keeps going, can’t pause.
Gg
Hate when that happens!
hello i have the same tv but my tv turns off after 20 minutes of being ON...any idea what it might be
It might be the same issue that is going on, I couldn't say for sure without seeing what is going on myself though.
@Marchall; I have same issue as yours now, did you figure this out? any luck?
Mark Zaki same problem here. Any answer?
Where do I buy a capacitor from??
Hello! Thanks for watching, Will bought them from.... www.alliedelec.com/
Mines doing the same but no picture it’s like it’s restarting itsself
I have a 40in led 5200 series smart tv that just started this crap last night guess I gotta do surgery
Same shit happened to me. started last week. Turning off and on constantly
Thanx
You're welcome!
Good
What will Happend if you stop Turning on your tv
Turning off and on by itself ?? It’s a GHOST !!!!
lol possibly!
Stay away from samsung
I just spoke to a Samsung tech. Told her my issue with my model # un50f6300af, her response was, I'm better off buying a new TV as the price is double what I paid to fix. She also stated she'd never buy a SAMSUNG TV, especially with the lack of service and warranty they allow. Enough said for me!!
If you were to see what my Samsung tv does you would think it came from a poltergeist
Oh gosh lol what is it doing?
It just at random ass time white static and chh chh chh chhhh noise then cuts back to the or in my case xbox then scares the hell out of you again?????
No way could I do that…. I shake like a shitting dog at best of times
DISCHARGE THE CAPS BEFORE PLAYING WITH THE BOARD IN YOUR TV!!!!! just sayin'
Just yellin' all caps
Oh hell no...
or u can get a replacement power board at shopjimmy.
I bought a board from Shopjimmy and I had to send it back. The board they sent was worse than what I had. However today it started again. I'll have to check it out Sunday. To bad its game day. Luckily I have a spare TV in my son's room. I'll never buy a Samsung again.
My Samsun Smart TV isn't so smart... it's a dumb TV!
I'm having that problem and I replaced the all power supply and my samsung tv still turn on and off
My tv is like 5 months old and it’s doing this
Might want to just check the warranty on yours.
you said you would show us the bad part WELL??????
Did you not see the capacitor?
Forget it
Sorry!
I don't like samsung tv
