    After having mine for a year now, I have to say, it’s still my favorite mic in my locker 💯💯💯

    Ayyyyee wicked review man! You go far and beyond to give us a closer look at a mic without actually using it in real life by using different preamps and actually going back and forth with the V&M mode. For ur ears, how did u think the UT handled sibilance compared to other Mics?

    • @TheAudioCzar
      @TheAudioCzar  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it handles it well, especially for a mic on the brighter side.

    Great review Czar!! I think this mic is bad news for Warm. I'm loving what I heard in these examples. 👍🏻👍🏻

    I agree ..great review thanks. the brandname and clones I relate.
    I just bought a used United Twin87 with box and shockmount for the price of a neumann/sennheisr shockmount! lol
    United seems like they are blowing up and will be in the class of GraceDesign, Emperical Labs, Great River....top end product, but without the 100yr old brandname.
    some great interesting posts below too. RF switch...Im going to try that!

    I only have the 737 plugin and I wasn't crazy about it, but I surprisingly used both the 610 a and 610 b on so many sources. Keep in mind it's all been virtual sources. I actually was surprised. Big fan of the trident eq.

    I’d highly recommend turnin the RF filter on. The sound is actually very very different. Much warmer and full with it switched

    • @TheAudioCzar
      @TheAudioCzar  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@videntemusic2465 never used the slate before, but I'm not crazy about mics that make digital emulations of other mics. I'd rather just have the real thing, meaning a mic with a tube and transformer, etc

    Czar, bro you are killing it with these mic reviews. Help a brother out. Now I’m tossed between this UT87, BV-1 Mk2 and the Lauten Audio Atlantis?

    • @TheAudioCzar
      @TheAudioCzar  ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't used the Atlantis, but trust lauten as a brand. If you need the versatility UT87, but BV-1 was my favorite mic of 2022.

    I like the Phoenix audio in vintage on the song vocals, but tuck her in or bring up the track. The Presonus was good as well but needed some sparkle maybe 6 -8 nice slight shelve.

  • @richardpenrose1968

    I noticed you have reviewed most mics that I'm interested in. What are your thoughts on the UnitedTwin87 vs the Vanguard V4, Roswell mics and Warm WA87r2? Which of these has the smoothest non harsh/sibilant top end but great clarity?

    • @TheAudioCzar
      @TheAudioCzar  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      can't speak on the warm, but if I had to rank them in how well they handle high end it would be Roswell, UT, Vanguard. With that being said none of them I find harsh on the top end

  • @dannydaniel8975
    @dannydaniel8975 ปีที่แล้ว

    If I'm recording to tape, almost any condenser mic will do, but if I'm recording to a harsh sounding medium, like, protools or cubase, then, it's a tube or a ribbon mic. Condenser mics sound really harsh on protools or cubase without a very high quality tube mic pre to remove the chill.

  • @anthemmakersmusic

    The rapper I would have chosen the vintage to keep it more in line with the darkness of the track. Just give the guy a bit of a shelve at 8 k. How am I doing?

  • @DreezyBeats
    @DreezyBeats 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    would you recommend getting this over a tlm 103 for rap/rnb vocals?

    • @TheAudioCzar
      @TheAudioCzar  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would, this is more versatile, TLM is cardiod only, no pad, no hpf, no polar patterns. The UT87 gives me all of that plus modern and vintage choice

    • @TheAudioCzar
      @TheAudioCzar  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've heard great things about the rupert Neve rack. If your going to fill it up with 500 series modules that require a lot of power. Then go with the Neve. If not the API will work fine. Also check the back of each unit to make sure the connections work best for you

    I like you think of famous gear (nostalgia basically) as cliche and are interested in doing things different. Or that’s my take at least. It just gets so old w companies copying companies all the time w little innovation.
