    I started with Superboy: Man of Tomorrow with zero knowledge and slowly filled it in! Now, 6 months in, I've got 200 comics and I'm the person my friends ask for lore clarification lol. Great video!!

    TLDR; I got a very good first introduction when I first started collecting dawn of dc comics (first dc comics ever for me). Stopped after collecting monthly after a while and I am now collecting the TPB's. Definitely a recommendation!
    Dawn of DC caught my eye when it got released and I did buy some issues for a few months to start my dc comic adventure. And I am loving it! There was one problem tho; monthly issues are pretty expensive and I do feel like the marketing/advertisement in the single issues do have some impact on the reading experience. luckily I was introduced to trade paperbacks and I am collecting those at the moment. This means that I am well behind on the overall story leading to absolute power, but I guess I just gotta be patient x'D.
    So the stories I have read when I was collecting monthly issues were Superman, Batman, Nightwing, Titans, Batman and Robin and City Boy. My overall review/first impressions were pretty positive;
    I have read the first 5-7 issues from each series; 'Superman' was very cool and I LOVE the art style of Campbell. Very cool dynamic between Superman and his long lasting rival so far. 'Batman' completely lost me ngl. Issue 135 basically concludes a previous arc (which i didn't read), but I thought I would be fine with the next issue. Turned out not and I had to do some research. But then I realised that the 'Gotham war' arc was divided between different comics which really made it confusing to catch up haha. I got the overall plot at the end (with, again, some researching online xD) but I stopped reading after that arc. I ll be collection the TPB when it comes out and I believe the first volume is the arc after gotham war. So I guess that turned out perfectly xD.
    'Batman and Robin' I enjoyed very much tho. I haven't read too much since it was released a little bit later but the hush-looking villain looks very intriguing so far. Also fun to see Bruce trying to give Damian a normal live but him being a bit stubborn like his father can be xD. 'City Boy' was also a fun read. Nothing too special imo, but the mc has some very intering powers and it was interesting to see how he was handling it and his past.
    Finally, my opinion on Nightwing and Titans. Nightwing is probably my favourite DC character of all time, so I knew I would enjoy his comics regardless. But I am even more enjoying Titans. I prefer the Titans more than the justice league as a team and the first arc proved this for me. I stopped just before the whole Beast World story, but I can't wait to continue that story again. I also LOVE the Titan members designs, especially Starfire with her hair 'on fire'.
    I ll be rereading the stories I have read so far in the TPB's and continue from there. I also ordered a lot more stories like Shazam, Green Arrow, WW. Green lantern and short stories like Cyborg and Hawkgirl. But yea, Dawn of DC definitely feels like a very good starting point!

      I couldn't agree more! I started reading in 2011, and didn't even realize it was such a low point. But starting there, it made me realize how great all of the old trade paperbacks were. I didn't keep up with the modern stuff after that, but I definitely started buying all the old stuff and fell in love with it

    I still wished dc would deage Jonathan Samuel Kent superboy back to his little 10 year old self because damn it Tom Taylor witting on my boy isn’t good but really bad at least in my opinion, but overall dc has been interesting so far especially with green lantern and the main Superman book is really good next to PKJ action comics and green arrow which was amazing on my opinion.

    So I don’t consider myself a DC newcomer since I’ve been consuming DC content since my earliest memories, but I am blind in Rebirth to present. I know some stuff that happens in it but I’m very lost on a lot of parts of it. I’m wanting to hop back into DC but I don’t want go back and read every comic in rebirth. Would you say that Dawn of DC is newcomer friendly in the sense that someone is familiar with DC just not a lot of stuff from around 2016 to now.

    • @SuperSwimTeam7
      @SuperSwimTeam7  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think Dawn of DC is very newcomer friendly! A lot of the characters like Power, Girl and Superboy have had such vague and differing takes with in the last few years, even since rebirth in 2016. This is kind of like a hard reset for all of them. In a world where flash can go back in time and cause a butterfly effect, any of booster Gold or the legion of Superheroes shenanigans can be used to explain why something in Canon is slightly off or different. A lot of the times it's a plot point, even, at least with modern stories.
      I just jumped into Superman stories for the first time since the new 52 in 2011, And I've been loving the line of books! I think it's pretty newcomer friendly!

    How do I know what to read, like if I want to start dawn of dc how am I meant to what what comics I gotta read? Is there a list somewhere

  • @rebelpunk13
    @rebelpunk13 หลายเดือนก่อน

    This is rhetorical best DC has been since the 90s-00s. There was a since of legacy, events mattered, and the status quo actually changed. The New 52 was terrible and ruined so much history. Rebirth was great and got me back into DC But Heroes in Crisis left a bad taste in my mouth, they ruined Wally’s return and then Bendis taking over Superman from Gleason and Tomasi was a huge mistake. I pretty much dropped comics again and followed online but nothing really captured my attention. This new era is awesome, bringing legacy back, there’s a new art house style that I’m really digging, the events are awesome, and the universe feels connected. I love that pre Flashpoint history is established again, the JSA are back, and the Superman titles are the best they’ve been in a long time. Hopefully they keep it going. They also have a great roster of writers and artists right now. Marvel has been crap for the last 10-12 years, I think it’s DCs time to shine again. Great video

    • @SuperSwimTeam7
      @SuperSwimTeam7  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm thinking about it, but it's unlikely. I only really made the video because I read more DC books than I ever have my entire life reading comics. I can't say the same for Marvel. At DC everything's good. Right now. Green Lantern is good, Green Arrow is good, Wonder Woman is good, flash is good, Batman is good, Superman is good..
      At Marvel? Fantastic! Four is doing okay. Venom is doing good. hulk and thor are having good runs.. but the avengers and Spiderman and so many others are stuck in mediocrity hell. It's not the same bar of quality, so it's hard for me to recommend Marvel in the same way. I can recommend DC here

    Dc is about family now

    • @SuperSwimTeam7
      @SuperSwimTeam7  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      And it's all the better for it! You'd think Marvel, a company with the first family w/ Fantastic Four, would have more focus on family, but the X-Men fall out and stab each other's backs every other issue. I like that Green Arrow and Titans are about the family coming back together. I hate that X-Men and Spider-Man are dead set on keeping the families apart. They'd rather abandon character dynamics than do the hard work of growing them, evolving them, and creati g new ones.
